Abstract

Retractable railing for beds. Retractable railing for beds.

Object of the invention

The present invention relates to a railing  retractable, which is especially suitable for clinical beds but that can be equally usable in any other type of bed.

The object of the invention is to achieve a structurally simple railing, which also offers a large ease of handling for your passage from the operating situation to the of inoperance and vice versa.

Background of the invention

In certain practical cases, how it happens mainly in clinical beds, it is necessary to provide them with railings that suppose a means of lateral containment upper extension of the mattress, to avoid a possible fall of the patient but that in other circumstances can leave The mattress area is completely clear, for example to facilitate the rise and fall of the patient, the change of bedding, etc.

A classic solution is to provide the bed of a rigid railing that, mounted on vertical guides and extreme, is able to move vertically, so which in an elevated situation establishes the appropriate degree of protection, while in descent situation its upper edge is located at or below the top plane of the mattress, said railing must have locking / unlocking means in the aforementioned upper limit situation.

This solution, perfectly valid from the protection point of view, presents as fundamental problem the  fact that in an inoperative situation the railing closes mostly the defined space between the bed and the floor, constituting an obstacle that hinders the approach to the bed and that especially prevents the coupling under the bed of the base support roll for an auxiliary table, for a support application of medicinal products, such as serum and similar, etc.

Trying to ignore this problem are known folding railings, based on a reticular structure and articulated, in which at least one pair of stringers participate, one upper and one lower, related to each other by a series of vertical uprights, configuring a whole kind of deformable parallelogram, which in operant situation covers a large rectangular surface on the side of the bed, by on the mattress and in an inoperative situation tends to linear configuration adapting laterally to the bed, below of the mattress operating plane.

This solution, besides being structurally complex and consequently expensive, does not allow an enclosure integral of the corresponding side of the bed, since in folding situation its length is substantially increased, in such an inoperative situation is substantially prominent with with respect to the side of the bed, constituting an obstacle unwanted, and its aesthetic appearance leaves much to be desired.

To partially solve the problem previously mentioned are known folding railings and retractable, which, once folded the they are likely to move transversely under the bed base, to remain hidden and not constitute elements prominent that hinder the approach to the bed. This solution further complicates the structure of the railing and the handling of the same, contributing equally to make it more expensive.

Description of the invention

The railing proposed by the invention resolves in a fully satisfactory way the problem previously exposed, in each and every one of the different aspects commented.

The railing is structured by a series of stringers, intended to be established between the headboard and bed footrest, stringers capable of stacking inside a same plane inoperative situation for the railing, or of conveniently distance each other in an operating situation.

To do this and more specifically each stringer account, at each of its ends, with a block intended for slide into a vertical guide operatively established on the corresponding side of the headboard and the footboard, guides materialized in a grooved profile of mouthpiece strangled, which can be embedded in the headboard and in the footboard or be mounted externally on these elements, so that the tacos that finish the ends of each ribbon immobilize transversely to them with respect to corresponding guides, allowing however a displacement vertical of them.

Each of these studs is provided with a stud  side, which serves a double function, on the one hand constitute a longitudinal fixing link for the lath, and on the other hand allow to relate adjacent slats to each other, specifically with the collaboration of a longitudinally grooved plate or similar, in whose groove play the teats of two stringers contiguous, so that the length of said plate determines the maximum distance in height between the mentioned stringers.

According to this structuring the stringers they will tend by simple gravity to remain superimposed and intimately adapted, and when pulling upwards on the crossbar that occupies the upper extreme position, after a certain degree of elevation of the latter, the drag up the second stringer, and so on successively to the full extent of the railing.

For fixing the railing in situation operant it is planned that each block corresponding to the crossbar upper end also incorporates a second stud, retractable in against the tension of the spring, sliding on one of the faces side of the guide, specifically on its outer side face, that in the upper limit situation tends to interlock automatically due to the aforementioned spring, in an orifice operatively practiced in the guide and the one that remains coaxially faced a push button that, acting against said spring, causes the retraction of the pin to unlock the railing and consequent step of it to the folding situation or inoperance

In order to avoid accidental sneaking of the  railing, it is planned that the aforementioned second stud, the retractable, incorporate a groove in its lower area through the that locks, by simple gravity, over the hole in the wall of the guide through which he is an intern, so that the operation on the push button is inoperative as long as a slight elevation of the upper crossbar of the railing.

The mentioned push button can be indistinctly established on the upper crossbar of the railing or on the headboard / footboard of the bed.

From this basic structuring there are different constructive possibilities, one of which is that the lower railing of the railing is immovable, constituting the stiffening means between headboard and footboard, with respect to which the rest of the stringers are movable, or that using others means for fixing the headboard and footboard, the lower crossbar is also mobile, being able to be dragged together with the rest of the stringers, so that while in situation inoperative of the railing these stringers configure a kind with a single stringer, which covers the mattress laterally and can stay even below it, when the extension of the same all the stringers are located above the plane Operation of the mattress, boosting the covering surface or protection defined by the railing as a whole.

In any case and given the perfect continuity surface that the different stringers suppose for the railing as a whole in a sneaking situation, the upper beam incorporates at least one recess over its edge bottom that facilitates the introduction of the fingers, to carry out the ascension traction maneuver of said stringer, and after the rest.

Preferred Embodiment of the Invention

In view of the figures outlined you can observe how the railing that is recommended is constituted by a plurality of stringers (1), which in the example of practical implementation chosen are three, but whose number can vary without affecting the essence of the invention, stringers that in an inoperative situation of the railing are stacked together, establishing surface continuity, as the right handrail of figure 1, or that are capable of distance yourself properly, as is the case with the railing left of the aforementioned figure 1, when it adopts the situation operant, for which purpose the ends of said stringers (1) are movable on vertical and marginal guides (2) conveniently fixed to the headboard (3) and the footboard (4) of the bed and that will preferably be embedded in these elements.

More specifically each stringer (1) incorporates, at each of its ends, a prismatic plug (5), laterally flattened, intended to penetrate into the guide (2) corresponding, which materializes in a corrugated profile of rectangular section and strangulated mouth, whose mouth It allows free access to the mentioned tacos (5).

Each block has a side stud (6) topped in an expanded head, so that between every two lugs (6) corresponding to adjacent stringers (1), a slotted plate (7) or similar element, such as a annular and flattened rod, which in any case must be configured a groove (8) of adequate width to the diameter of the initial sector of the lugs (6) and of adequate length with the distance maximum expected between stringers (1).

More specifically the grooved plates (7) allow free movement along its groove (8) of the lugs (6) housed in its bosom, until said lugs contact with the ends of said slot (8), limiting the distance between them.

According to this structuring and at pulling upwards on the upper crossbar (1) is produces the elevation of the same, initially of said stringer exclusively, until their slotted plates (7) cause the drag of the second crossbar (1), and so on until the total extension of the railing.

To conveniently lock the railing in extension or operation situation, each corresponding block (5) to the crossbar (1) upper end, it also incorporates a second bumper (9), transverse, retractable against the tension of a spring (10) and housed together with the latter within a bushing (11) with one of its ends (12) closed and the other equipped with an emergency hole outside a python lock (13), interlockable in an operationally practiced hole on the side wall of the guide (2), so that said spring permanently tends to project the python (13) towards the blocking situation, which occurs automatically when It reaches the situation of confrontation with the aforementioned hole.

With this busty (9) and more specifically with its Python (13), collaborates a push button (14) mounted in turn on a second bushing (15), conveniently in solidarity with the guide (2) on the outside of the same and in a situation of blocking for the railing is coaxial with said stud (9), so that a Manual operation on the mentioned button (6) causes the retraction of the pin (9) and the consequent release of the crossbar upper (1) that will automatically descend by simple gravity.

On the other hand and as shown in Figure 5 is perfectly possible to mount the button (14) on the headboard / footboard (3-4) of the bed, instead of do it on the top rail of the railing, as in the case of the previous figures, keeping the rest unchanged of the structure described.

Since in folded situation for the railing and as seen in figure 1, the stringers (1) they are perfectly superimposed, with a monobloc appearance and a continuous lateral and external surface, the upper beam (1) incorporate, in correspondence with its edge bottom, at least one recess (17), in the example of practical embodiment depicted in figures two, which allows the introduction of the fingers of the hand to carry out the ascent maneuver of said upper beam (1) and, consequently, the extension of the railing.

Figure 6 shows the preferred embodiment of when the retention latch is incorporated in the headboard and / or footboard, for which a tongue will be available metal (17) attached directly to the bars of the railing (1), tongue that will run through the guide (18) made in the interior of the headboard or footboard. Retractable railing for beds, especially for clinical beds, characterized by being constituted from a plurality of stringers (1), associated with movable character by their ends to guides (2) operatively established in the marginal areas of the headboard (3 ) and the footboard (4) of the bed, so that said stringers (1) are capable of stacking, with a monobloc appearance and preferably with perfect surface continuity, in an inoperative situation of the railing, or of conveniently distancing themselves in height, in the operating situation of the railing, in which the upper beam (1) is blocked to said guides (2) and the rest of the stringers (1) suspended from the first. 2. A retractable railing for beds, according to previous claims, characterized in that the upper beam (1) incorporates, at each of its ends, specifically in the corresponding block (5), a second transverse stud (9), retractable against the tension of a spring (10), topped off by a python (13) opposed to said spring (10), capable of being housed in a locked position in a hole operatively practiced in the side and corresponding wall of the guide (2), so that said python slides on the inner face of said lateral wall of the guide in the upward displacement of the upper stringer (1), to automatically engage in the guide when it reaches the situation of facing the said hole, it being provided that in said lateral side of the guide (2) and externally to it, a push button (14) is established which in a locked situation is coaxially facing the python (13) for unlocking the rail nipple by axial displacement of the pin (9) against the spring (10), push button (14) that can optionally be located in the headboard / footboard (3-4). 4. A retractable railing for beds, according to claim 3, characterized in that the rail (9) for retaining the railing can be incorporated both in the rails of the railing, as in the headboard and / or footboard of the bed. 5.
