Abstract

Un método para la fabricación de una prótesis articular, por ejemplo una prótesis articular de cadera o rodilla, de un material cerámico con una alta tolerancia al esfuerzo y tejido para uso médico como una superficie que soporta biomaterial ortopédico para las superficies de desgaste en la prótesis articular artificial, caracterizado por 1.1. La preparación/mezcla de una composición en polvo conteniendo nitruro de silicio como una base que consta de 70-100% en volumen de nitruro de silicio con adición de 0-30 % en volumen de uno o la combinación de los materiales siguientes: dióxido de zirconio, dióxido de itrio, dióxido de titanio, óxido de calcio, carburo de silicio y/o 0-20 % en volumen de fibras cortas de óxido de aluminio, carburo de silicio y mullita, o mezclas independientes de estos, 1.2. Conformar el cuerpo de prótesis articular de la mezcla, 1.3. Someter el cuerpo de prótesis a altas presiones entre 50 MPa y 350 MPa y temperaturas entre 500-3000º C por presión isostática y sinterización (HIP) para adquirir una porosidad deseable del cuerpo, después de lo que 1.4. Se enfría el cuerpo y se pulen las superficies de desgaste para que el desgaste se minimice y descontamine clínicamente antes del uso médico.
