LA PRESENTE INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN PROCEDIMIENTO DE TRATAMIENTO DE GASES DE ESCAPE DE MOTORES DE COMBUSTION INTERNA QUE FUNCIONAN CON UN COMBUSTIBLE QUE CONTIENE AZUFRE. ESTE PROCEDIMIENTO SE CARACTERIZA PORQUE SE UTILIZA, COMO CATALIZADOR, UNA COMPOSICION CON BASE DE UN OXIDO DE CERIO Y DE UN OXIDO DE ZIRCONIO, EN UNA PROPORCION ATOMICA CERIO/ZIRCONIO DE AL MENOS 1 Y DE AL MENOS UN OXIDO ELEGIDO ENTRE EL OXIDO DE ITRIO, DE LANTANO Y DE PRASEODIMIO Y QUE PRESENTA UNA SUPERFICIE ESPECIFICA DESPUES DE LA CALCINACION DE 6 HORAS A 900 C DE AL MENOS 35 M 2 /G.
