LA INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN PROCEDIMIENTO DE TRATAMIENTO DE UN CATALIZADOR SOPORTADO QUE PRESENTA UNA FASE ACTIVA A BASE DE UN COMPUESTO DE AZUFRE Y UN SOPORTE MINERAL, CONTAMINADO POR UN COMPUESTO DE MERCURIO. ESTE PROCEDIMIENTO CONSISTE EN LLEVAR A CABO LAS SIGUIENTES ETAPAS: SE PONE EN CONTACTO DICHO CATALIZADOR CON UNA SOLUCION ACUOSA BASICA DE AL MENOS UN SULFURO ELEGIDO ENTRE LOS SULFUROS DE METALES ALCALINOS, LOS SULFUROS DE METALES ALCALINOTERREOS O EL SULFURO DE AMONIO Y A CONTINUACION, SE SEPARA EL CATALIZADOR ACUOSO BASICO. AL FINAL DE ESTE TRATAMIENTO EL CATALIZADOR TRATADO PRESENTA LAS MISMAS CARACTERISTICAS QUE POSEIA ANTES DE CONTAMINACION POR EL MERCURIO.
