EL CATALIZADOR ESTA COMPUESTO POR OXIDO DE ALUMINIO ACTIVO, SOBRE EL QUE SE HA PRECIPITADO COMO PROMOTOR DE UN 5 A UN 25 % EN PESO DE VOLFRAMATO DE POTASIO. MEDIANTE UNA IMPREGNACION EN DOS FASES CON SECADO INTERMEDIO, SE OBTIENE UN CATALIZADOR QUE MUESTRA, FRENTE A CATALIZADORES QUE HAN SIDO OBTENIDOS MEDIANTE UNA IMPREGNACION EN UNA SOLA FASE, UNA SELECTIVIDAD CLARAMENTE MEJOR PARA LA FORMACION DEL METILMERCAPTANO.
