Abstract

Convertidor catalítico para la depuración de gas de escape de un motor de combustión interna, en especial de un motor diesel o de un motor para mezcla pobre, con por lo menos un cuerpo de alvéolos en forma de panal (6) cubierto con material catalíticamente activo, que tiene canales (3) separados entre sí por medio de paredes (4, 5) y que pueden ser atravesados por la corriente de gas de escape, teniendo el convertidor consecutivamente entre sí una primera zona (1) y una segunda zona (2) en el sentido de paso (S) de la corriente de gas de escape, teniendo la primera zona (1) una menor capacidad térmica por unidad de volumen del cuerpo de alvéolos (6) que la segunda zona (2), caracterizado porque la segunda zona (2) tiene una capacidad térmica de por lo menos 800 Julios por litro y Kelvin (J/lK), pero preferentemente por lo menos 900 Julios.
