UN MATERIAL POLIMERICO QUE COMPRENDE GRUPOS ETER EN LA CADENA PRINCIPAL Y GRUPOS ALCOXILADOS EN UNA CADENA LATERAL Y ES EFECTIVO COMO SOPORTE PARA ADITIVOS FOTOCROMICOS. EL MATERIAL POLIMERICO TIENE PREFERENTEMENTE UNA TEMPERATURA DE TRANSICION A VIDRIO DE AL MENOS 125 (GRADOS) F Y UNA DENSIDAD DE ENTRECRUZAMIENTO DE 2 A 8 MOLES POR LITRO, Y MEJOR AUN DE 2,5 A 6 MOLES POR LITRO. CUANDO SE INCORPORAN ADITIVOS FOTOCROMICOS EN TALES MATERIALES, LA VELOCIDAD DE CAMBIO SE MANTIENE A UN ALTO NIVEL, MIENTRAS QUE EL NIVEL DE RESPUESTA FOTOCROMICA SE VUELVE RELATIVAMENTE INSENSIBLE A LOS CAMBIOS DE TEMPERATURA. EJEMPLOS DE PRODUCTOS OPTICOS EN LOS QUE SE PUEDEN INCORPORAR TALES MATERIALES COMPRENDEN LENTES OFTALMICAS, GAFAS, GAFAS DE SEGURIDAD, VENTANAS Y PARABRISAS.
