ANTES DEL REVESTIMIENTO, LOS CORCHOS SE PUEDEN IMPREGNAR EN UN DISOLVENTE PARA ELIMINAR COMPUESTOS CONTAMINANTES DE LA SUPERFICIE DEL CORCHO, REDUCIENDO DE ESTE MODO LA PROBABILIDAD DE QUE TALES COMPUESTOS SE CONCENTREN EN LA SUPERFICIE DEL REVESTIMIENTO.
