Abstract

Multipurpose equipment and process for the manufacture of water-based explosives. Multipurpose equipment for the continuous manufacture of water-based explosives such as hydrogels and emulsions which comprises tanks 5,6, liquid/liquid mixers 13,22, a liquid/solid mixer 14, a solid/solid mixer 24, metering pumps 7,8,18,21,23, solid metering devices 15,16 and flow meters 9,10,19. For the manufacture of hydrogels the solution of oxidizing agents, fuels and thickeners is mixed in a mixer 14 with (a) the other solid components metered by metering device 16, (b) the other oxidizing agents metered by metering device 15 and with the gasifying solution. For the manufacture of emulsions the aqueous and oil phases are mixed in mixer 13 and the resulting emulsion can be (a) mixed with hollow particles or solid fuels in mixer 14 or (b) passed through mixer 22 where it is refined or homogenized, and/or mixed with a gas generating agent.
