Abstract

Bacterial strain capable of metabolizing textile dyes. The bacterium was obtained in an activated sludge pilot plant used for the treatment of a textile wastewater and selected in solid medium for subsequent isolation and identification. The biochemical identification reactions (API 20E and complementary tests) indicate that the species selected is Enterobacter aerogenes. Its application for the removal of dyes from textile wastewaters makes it possible to degrade molecules of this type which give rise to major environmental problems.
