CUANDO LA FUENTE DE ALIMENTACION ESTA ENCENDIDA, UN VALOR COMPLEMENTARIO QUE COMPLEMENTA PARA CONFIGURAR LA SUMA DE LOS DATOS ALMACENADOS EN TODAS LAS DIRECCIONES DE LA ROM COMO UN DETERMINADO VALOR ESPECIFICO, ROMCHK, QUE ES EL CONTENIDO DE LOS DATOS ALMACENADOS DENTRO DE UNA DIRECCION ESPECIFICA DE LA ROM, SE COMPARA CON NVMCHK QUE ES EL CONTENIDO DE LOS DATOS ALMACENADOS PREVIAMENTE EN UNA DIRECCION ESPECIFICA DE UNA MEMORIA NO VOLATIL CON EL MISIMO VALOR QUE LA ROMCHK. SI NO COINCIDEN, ENTONCES EL CONTENIDO DE LOS DATOS EN EL AREA ENTERA DE LA ROM SE CALCULA PARA DIAGNOSIS. EN ESTE CASO, EL CONTENIDO ALMACENADO EN LA DIRECCION ESPECIFICA DE LA ROM ES LA SUMA DE LOS VALORES DE LOS DATOS EN EL AREA ENTERA DE LA ROM Y EL CONTENIDO ALMACENADO EN LA DIRECCION ESPECIFICA DE LA MEMORIA NO VOLATIL ES EL MISMO QUE ESTE VALOR SUMA.
