DIOXIDO CLORHIDRICO DE PRODUCE ELECTROLITICAMENTE EN EL COMPARTIMENTO CATODICO DE UNA CELULA ELECTROLITICA USANDO UN CATODO TRIDIMENSIONAL DE GRAN SUPERFICIE. EL COMPARTIMENTO DEL CATODO ESTA SEPARADO DEL COMPARTIMENTO DEL ANODO POR UNA MEMBRANA DE INTERCAMBIO DE CATIONES. SE HACE REACCIONAR CLORURO SODICO CON IONES DE HIDROGENO E IONES DE CLORO EN EL COMPARTIMENTO CATODICO Y SE EXPULSA DIOXIDO DE CLORO EN EL COMPARTIMENTO CATODICO. EL CLORO COPRODUCIDO CON EL DIOXIDO DE CLORO SE REDUCE EN EL CATODO PARA PROVEER IONES DE CLORO PARA LA REACCION, MIENTRAS SE PRODUCEN ELECTROLITICAMENTE IONES DE HIDROGENO Y SE TRANFIEREN A TRAVES DE LA MEMBRANA ENTRE EL COMPARTIMENTO DEL ANODO Y DEL CATODO PARA PROVEER IONES DE HIDROGENO PARA LA REACCION.
