Abstract
The process is of the type which consists in producing, on a machine with two needle beds 1, 2, an independent layer 3, 4 of fabric in each of the needle beds, and it is characterized in that the yarn of one layer 3 is cotton and the yarn of the other layer 4 is synthetic fibre, transfers or crosses of certain needles periodically taking place from one needle bed 2 to the other needle bed 1, whose needles 5, 6 form joining meshes (stitches) 7 between the two layers 3, 4. A knitted fabric is obtained with a cotton layer 3 and another, synthetic-fibre layer 4, which are independent, with an inner air chamber 8, the layers being joined only at needle-transfer points 7. In the garment, the cotton layer 3 forms the inner face which is in contact with the skin and the synthetic-fibre layer 4 constitutes the outer face which acts as thermal insulation.
