EL MATERIAL DE MADERA, EN FORMA DE VIRUTAS, SE IMPREGNA EN UNA O DOS ETAPAS A UNA TEMPERATURA INFERIOR A 80GC CON 15-40 KG DE NAOH Y 0-30 KG DE NASI2SOSI3 POR TONELADA DE PASTA. DESPUES DE ELLO, LAS VIRUTAS SE REFINAN A PRESION, DE TAL MODO QUE LA TEMPERATURA DE LAS VIRUTAS ANTES DEL REFINO NO EXCEDE DE 80GC DURANTE UN TIEMPO MAYOR QUE DIEZ SEGUNDOS. BLANQUEO DE LA PASTA CON PEROXIDO, EN CUYO BLANQUEO SE CARGAN ADICIONALMENTE AL MENOS 15 KG DE NAOH POR TONELADA DE PASTA, DE TAL MANERA QUE LA CANTIDAD TOTAL DE NAOH CARGADA ES 30-80 KG POR TONELADA DE PASTA.
