Abstract

A cylindrical body 3 holds the steering column 1 so that the body can move axially and has a top flange 4 and a bottom flange 5 between which an eccentric lever 9 is disposed and is secured to the shaft of the ignition key lock. The top flange 4 bears ascending rods 11 extending through a block 12 secured to the steering wheel 10. A locking cross-member 14 is mounted at the top end, with an inner block 20 secured to the steering column 1 when it is disposed in radial recesses 24, so as to secure the steering wheel to the steering column or release it when required, when the cross-member 14 is raised and disposed in recesses 26 formed in an upper plug 28 screwed to the outer block 12.
