Abstract
A fuel injection nozzle of the outwardly opening type has a resiliently loaded valve member having a stem 28 extending into a chamber 27. Fuel under pressure from a inlet 22 can flow into the chamber 27 to assist the opening movement of the valve member but after a predetermined movement of the valve member a valve element 26 closes onto its seating to prevent, further fuel flow into the chamber 27, the continued opening movement of the valve member resulting from the action of fuel under pressure on a smaller area of the valve member. The valve element 26 is engaged by the valve member.
