Abstract

A cable termination for paper- insulated medium voltage cables, includes a multi-fingered termination sleeve (39) fitting sealingly on the cable sheath (13) and on exposed core end portions (31, 33, 35) and enclosing an encapsulating resin (51) which forms a solid insulating body surrounding a crotch area, and is sufficiently flexible in the core fingers to prevent the creation of gap- forming forces in the crotch area under the influence of movements of the core ends, the spreading of the core end portions in the crotch area being determined by a rigid spreading body (29) interposed between the cores. The resin is thicker in the crotch region than elsewhere.
