Abstract
Un dispositivo de elemento de defensa para carreteras, que es sostenido por apoyos empotrados en el suelo, que está hecho de chapa delgada y que posee una capa intermedia o relleno de un material sintético, caracterizado porque el elemento de defensa está fabricado como perfil hueco no cerrado, de una pieza al menos por tres lados, y provisto, para la transmisión de los esfuerzos de flexión que se producen al chocar un vehículo contra él, de un relleno de esponja de material sintético, con preferencia de esponja de poliuretano, que va de un lado del perfil al otro, relleno que entra en unión, adherente con la superficie de la chapa provista de un recubrimiento contra la corrosión, y porque el elemento de defensa está reunido con elementos de defensa contiguos para formar una viga continua de momento resistente a la flexión sustancialmente constante, ascendiendo a más de 10 metros la distancia o separación entre los apoyos rígidos a torsión que penetran en el interior del elemento y que lo soportan.
