Definitions

  • Projecting member for shovels and portable shovel including said projecting member
  • the present invention finds application in the field of equipment for removing loose material (such as snow or soil) and the projection thereof at a distance far from the equipment.
  • the present invention relates to shovels, i.e., to equipment of the aforesaid type, whose “projecting” member (i.e., the component of the equipment which repeatedly picks up loose material from the ground and, imparting a high speed thereto, projects said material far from the equipment) is provided with an impeller preferably, but not necessarily, with blades.
  • impeller means the rotating part of a rotary machine.
  • the present invention relates to a projecting member for shovels.
  • the present invention further relates to a shovel including said projecting member.
  • the object of the present invention is to overcome the aforesaid drawbacks by indicating a “portable” shovel, i.e., a shovel which can be maneuvered by an operator while keeping the projecting member raised from the ground.
  • Another object of the present invention is to indicate a projecting member for using shovels which, in place of the cutting member of a brush cutter, it is possible to convert the latter into a portable shovel.
  • cutting member of a brush cutter means the component of the latter hanging from the handle of the brush cutter and including a rotating blade or wire.
  • the object of the present invention is a device, which can be defined as a “projecting member”, connectable to a handle of a brush cutter in place of a cutting member of the latter so as to convert said brush cutter into a portable shovel, said brush cutter comprising:
  • said at least partially hollow handle said handle including a first end and a second end opposite said first end;
  • a first shaft housed at least partially in said handle, said first shaft comprising a first end and a second end opposite said first end thereof, said first end of said first shaft being closer to said first end of said handle than to said second end of the latter, said second end of said first shaft being closer to said second end of said handle than to said first end of the latter;
  • first connecting means of said first shaft to said handle said first connecting means constraining said first shaft to said handle so that said first shaft can rotate, with respect to said handle, about a first axis;
  • said device comprises:
  • a second shaft including a first end and a second end opposite said first end thereof;
  • third connecting means suitable for connecting said second shaft, at said first end thereof, to said first shaft, at said first end of the latter, when said support structure is connected to said handle, so that a rotation of said first shaft about said first axis (by means of said motor) causes a rotation of said second shaft about said second axis, said third connecting means being further suitable for connecting said second shaft to said first shaft so that said first and second shaft are neither coaxial nor parallel to each other;
  • projection means comprising at least a first wall, said projection means being connected to said second shaft so that, when said device is immersed, at least partially, in loose material (for example, snow), to a rotation of said second shaft about said second axis, said projection means rotate by exerting a thrust on an amount of said loose material at at least one face, preferably concave, of said first wall;
  • said projection means projecting said amount of loose material away from said second shaft to an outflow of said amount of loose material from said portion of space.
  • the second shaft and the projection means form the impeller of the projecting member.
  • said face of said first wall is delimited by an edge coplanar to said second axis at least at a stretch of said edge closest to said second axis with respect to the remaining portion of said edge.
  • said projection means comprise a plurality of thread-like elements each of which including a first end and a second end opposite the first end thereof, each of said thread-like elements being connected to said second shaft at the first end thereof, at least some of said thread-like elements being connected to said second shaft side by side so as to substantially give rise to at least said first wall.
  • the projecting member also acts as a brush which is connectable to a brush cutter in place of the cutting member of the latter, so as to be operable (i.e., to be able to be rotated) by the brush cutter motor.
  • said device comprises at least a second wall connected to said second shaft so that said second wall and said second axis are neither coplanar nor parallel to each other.
  • the device comprises a wall substantially acting as a “rotating blade” integrally with the second shaft and suitable for cutting the loose material intended to be pushed by the projection means into the portion of space at least partially interposed between the casing and the second shaft.
  • said second wall cuts or breaks up any agglomerates of loose material, facilitating the thrust and subsequent projection thereof by the projection means.
  • said second wall is connected to said second shaft orthogonally to said second axis.
  • said first wall is not in contact with said second shaft and is connected to the latter through said second wall.
  • the first wall is connected to the second wall which is in turn connected to the second shaft. Therefore, there is a sort of opening between the second shaft and the first wall which is crossable by loose material.
  • said casing comprises a side wall shaped as a portion of cylindrical surface, said side wall including a first and a second edge opposite each other and each of which shaped like an arc of circumference, said side wall being connected to said support structure coaxially to said second shaft, said casing further comprising a first and a second base opposite each other and each of which preferably shaped almost like a circular sector, said first and second base being connected to said side wall at said first and second edge, respectively, said casing being connected to said support structure at least at said first base, said second connecting means being connecting means for connecting said second shaft at least to said second base, said second connecting means therefore being connecting means for connecting said second shaft to said support structure through said casing.
  • the bases advantageously prevent an amount of loose material crossing (pushed by the projection means) the aforesaid portion of space partially interposed between the casing and the second shaft, from falling laterally (with respect to the second shaft) from the projecting member (and therefore without being projected away from said second shaft).
  • said projection means have, overall, an axis of symmetry, both from a geometric point of view and in terms of mass, coinciding with said second rotation axis.
  • the projection means, as well as the second wall if present, are advantageously balanced during a rotation thereof about the second axis.
  • Another object of the invention is an apparatus, which can be defined “shovel”, comprising:
  • a first shaft housed at least partially in said handle, said first shaft comprising a first end and a second end opposite said first end thereof, said first end of said first shaft being closer to said first end of said handle than to said second end of the latter, said second end of said first shaft being closer to said second end of said handle than to said first end of the latter;
  • first connecting means of said first shaft to said handle said first connecting means constraining said first shaft to said handle so that said first shaft can rotate, with respect to said handle, about a first axis;
  • a casing at least partially concave, connected to said support structure with the concavity thereof facing said second shaft and so as to delimit, at least partially, together with said second shaft, a portion of space crossable by said projection means upon a rotation of said second shaft about said second axis, when said projecting member is immersed, at least partially, in a loose material, to a rotation of said second shaft about said second axis: an amount of said loose material crossing said portion of space pushed by said projection means, said casing preventing said amount of loose material crossing said portion of space, from distancing from said second shaft as long as said loose material crosses said portion of space and said projection means projecting said amount of loose material away from said second shaft to an outflow of said amount of loose material from said portion of space.
