Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lighting device, namely designed for use in extractor hoods for extracting cooking fumes.
- Hoods equipped with lighting devices are commonly designed for use both in homes and in restaurants, canteens, public spaces or more.
- Countless types of lighting devices for extractor hoods such as spotlights, are known in the art. Examples of known spotlights are disclosed in DE102016122388, US2019338899 and CN210153660.
- a known spotlight typically comprises a hollow enclosure having a bottom.
- Lighting means usually LEDs, are placed on the bottom of the enclosure.
- the LEDs are soldered to a printed circuit board which is then fixed to the bottom of the enclosure.
- the LEDs are powered by electric cables which have a first end soldered to the support and a second end connected to a connector which, in use, is connected to the mains through the power supply of the hood on which it is installed.
- a concave reflector is fixed inside the enclosure.
- the reflector has an opening, close to the bottom of the enclosure.
- the LEDs are located at the opening, in such positions relative to the reflector as to cause the emitted light to be concentrated toward the desired area.
- DEI 02016122388 discloses a spotlight adapted to be fixed to a wall by means of the interaction between an enclosure of the spotlight and the wall itself.
- this spotlight comprises a hollow enclosure having a bottom opening.
- the printed circuit board, with the LEDs soldered thereupon, is entirely held inside the enclosure by the action of the magnetic force between the wall and the enclosure.
- the DEI 02016122388 enclosure has multiple openings located on the side walls of the enclosure and configured to allow the passage of the power cables welded to the printed circuit board.
- US2019338899 discloses a spotlight in which the printed circuit board is entirely located inside the enclosure and is fixed by the interaction between the transparent cover and the enclosure itself. In particular, the transparent cover is fixed to the enclosure by means of screws.
- the LEDs of the spotlight disclosed in US2019338899 are powered by means of power cables soldered to the printed circuit board.
- CN210153660 discloses a spotlight having an opening located on the bottom wall of the enclosure. This opening is configured to allow the passage of the electric cables for powering the lighting means soldered to the printed circuit board.
- the first end of the cables soldered to the printed circuit board is located inside the enclosure and the second end is located outside the enclosure for connection to the mains.
- the printed circuit board as disclosed in CN210153660 is entirely located inside the enclosure and is fixed by means of the interaction between the enclosure and the reflector. More in detail, this reflector is fixed to the enclosure by means of screws.
- the technical purpose of the present invention is to provide a lighting device for extractor hoods, that can obviate the aforementioned prior art drawbacks.
- a lighting device for extractor hoods that comprises the technical features as disclosed in one or more of the accompanying claims.
- the device of the invention solves the technical problem in that it affords direct access to the support of the lighting means.
- the power connector can be formed directly on the support, and no additional electrical wiring is needed.

- the enclosure 2 has a side wall 2a, which surrounds the central axis “A”. At a first end of the side wall 2a, the enclosure 2 also has a bottom wall 2b. Preferably, the bottom wall 2b is substantially flat. This bottom wall is arranged transverse, namely perpendicular to the central axis “A”. In use, the bottom wall 2b is hidden from view.
- the enclosure 2 has a recess 10 proximate to the bottom wall 2b.
- Such recess 10 is defined by at least one outer wall 12, which is continuous with the bottom wall 2b and the side wall 2a.
- the outer wall 12 has at least one first portion 12a transverse, namely perpendicular to the bottom wall 2b.
- the outer wall 12 also has a second portion 12b, which is arranged substantially parallel to the bottom wall 2b.
- the device 1 has at least one spring 5 arranged along the outer perimeter of the enclosure 2.

- the device 1 comprises a concave reflector 4.
- Such reflector 4 is fixed inside the enclosure 2, and has an at least partially reflecting inner surface 7.
- the reflector 4 may have a parabolic, conical, hemispherical or any other shape, depending on how the light beam will be directed or focused.
- the reflector 4 has an opening 6 proximate to the bottom wall 2b of the enclosure 2.
- the lighting means 3 are located at the opening 6, so as to emit light toward the inner surface 7.
- a flange 4a extends outwards, i.e. away from the opening 6.
- the flange 4a is arranged transverse, namely perpendicular to the central axis “A”.
- the flange 4a of the reflector 4 and the bottom wall 2b of the enclosure 2 are substantially parallel.
- the flange 4a may be visible to the user or hidden by other elements of the hood.
- a cover element 8 which is preferably substantially flat and at least partly transparent, is arranged to close the enclosure 2 at the flange 4a of the reflector 4.
- the cover element 8 contacts the reflector 4 and is placed opposite to the opening 6.
- This cover element 8 locks the reflector 4 inside the enclosure 2 with known methods, for example by means of interference.
- the device 1 comprises a support 9, arranged between the reflector 4 and the enclosure 2, with the lighting means 3 fixed thereto.
- This support 9 is particularly arranged on the bottom wall 2b of the enclosure 2.
- the support 9 is fixed to the enclosure 2 by means of interference between the support 9, the reflector 4 and the enclosure 2.
- the support 9 is locked between the reflector 4 and the casing 2 without requiring special fixation devices such as screws or rivets, and without any treatments such as soldering or bonding.
- the support 9 comprises a board 23.
- This board 23 is namely defined by a printed circuit board.
- the board 23 at least partially contacts the bottom wall 2b of the enclosure 2 and is pressed against the bottom wall 2b by the reflector 4.
- the enclosure 2 has a slot 11 formed on the aforementioned outer wall 12, in particular on the first portion 12a.
- This slot 11 is namely located proximate to the bottom wall 2b of the enclosure 2.
- the support 9 fits in the slot 11, and therefore partially projects outside the enclosure 2, namely into the recess 10.
- the lighting means 3 comprise at least a first 14 and a second 15 light sources fixed to the support 9, and located at the opening 6 of the reflector 4. More in detail, the light sources 14, 15 are preferably LEDs and more preferably are arranged to emit light at distinct color temperatures.

- the power supply means 13 are configured to selectively supply power to the first light source 14 when the connector 17 is connected to the socket 16 in the first mode. Alternatively, when the connector 17 is connected to the socket 16 in the second mode, the power supply means 13 activate the second light source 15.
- the socket 16 comprises a first zone 16a and second zone 16b.
- the socket 16 is connected to the connector 17 in the first mode when the connector 17 fits on the first zone 16a.

- the first zone 16a and the second zone 16b of the socket 16 may be either totally distinct from each other, or partially coincident.
- each zone 16a, 16b will carry the terminals 21, 22 of a respective circuit.
- both terminals 21, 22 will be exposed in both zones 16a, 16b but in reversed positions, so that the polarity of the circuit may be reversed by simply moving the connector 17 from the first zone 16a to the second zone 16b and vice versa.
- the socket 16 is not divided into zones 16a, 16b.
- the socket 16 exposes a single contact for each terminal 21, 22.
