Description
The invention relates to a method for lightening dyed textiles and the textiles produced therewith.
The undiminished fashion trend towards wash-out and used-look effects means that the majority of all denim items dyed with indigo or other dyes are lightened in further processing steps through washing processes, often in combination with chemical treatments, either completely or locally, mostly in areas exposed to wear or be bleached.
The bleaching treatment is often preceded by an abrasive wash with enzymes (cellulases) and/or pumice stones. The bleaching treatment itself can be carried out in a second bath containing a bleaching agent in order to additionally lighten the coloring of the entire article and to intensify light-dark contrasts. In addition, however, the targeted, local brightening of the items in correspondingly exposed areas is used as an essential means, for example to give jeans a really authentic look. For this purpose, the denim surface is first locally limited, for example on the thighs and in the buttocks area, mechanically roughened by grinding. A bleaching solution is then sprayed on these areas in a targeted manner, which destroys the dye to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the desired intensity of the lightening effect.
Since there is a great need on the part of consumers to purchase clothing items with a used look as new goods, the provision of the so-called used or vintage look has meanwhile become one of the commercially most important fashion effects in the leisure sector.
For a long time it was common practice to treat colored textiles in an aqueous bath in a long liquor, i.e. at a ratio of the dry weight of the textile quantity to the weight of the liquor of 1:10 or less, with hypochlorites, for example chlorine bleaching liquor, to carry out the treatment to lighten the surface of dyed textiles. Chlorine bleach was an easily available, inexpensive and efficient bleaching agent with which a large number of dyes, including indigo or indigoid dyes, can be decolorized by oxidation. However, this procedure has the disadvantage that large amounts of (adsorbable organically bound halogens) AOX-contaminated waste water are produced, which often have to be post-treated in order to comply with officially prescribed limit values. Chlorine bleach is also very toxic to aquatic organisms. The use of chlorine-based chemicals is therefore heavily criticized due to increased environmental awareness.
Another bleaching agent that is very often used to achieve such lightening effects is potassium permanganate. The use of this bleaching agent is a common procedure, especially for the partial bleaching of denim items in the spray process.
The use of permanganate as a dilute, aqueous solution has advantages in practical use: the bleaching effect takes place very quickly within a few minutes, there are no elevated temperatures necessary; the bleaching agent itself is storage-stable and the bleaching effect achieved is readily reproducible. However, serious disadvantages are also known here. Potassium permanganate is highly toxic for aquatic organisms and its massive use leads to high heavy metal levels in the wastewater. In addition, potassium permanganate has been classified as a cmr substance (toxic for reproduction category 2) in the EU since 2018. In addition, with appropriate treatment, a further process step with additional water and energy consumption is necessary to remove the manganese dioxide that is produced.
A number of approaches have been proposed in recent years as alternatives to hypochlorite and potassium permanganate, but these generally have serious disadvantages themselves and have therefore not been able to establish themselves in practice.
Beispiele sind u.a. Überführung von Indigo durch Reduktionsmittel wie Glucose (
die Verwendung von Ozon (
the use of ozone (
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method for lightening dyed textiles in the sense of the most selective possible, at least partial destruction of the dyes or pigments with which the textiles are dyed, which on the one hand makes it possible to lighten the textile over the entire surface or to lighten evenly in the desired nuance, but also to increase the bleaching effect locally, for example by spraying or brushing with variable intensity. The procedure should have comparable results in its whitening effect as using other prior art bleaches. It should be economical and universally and easily made available, while significantly reducing possible burdens and hazards both for the environment and in use.
The lightening of textiles which are dyed with vat dyes, in particular with indigo or indigoid dyes, is of particular interest.
It is generally known that peroxidases of the enzyme class EC 1.11.1.7, in addition to other enzymes such as laccases, are able, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide or molecular oxygen, to oxidize organic compounds which have built-in phenolic groups in the molecule. On the one hand, the oxidizing effect is largely limited to phenolic groups, on the other hand, it is not very specific in this respect, i.e. most molecules containing phenol groups can be oxidized accordingly. It has long been known that the oxidizing effect of peroxidases can therefore also be extended to other, non-phenolic molecules by adding so-called "enhancers" or mediators. These mediators, which typically contain phenolic structures, are the primary substrate for the enzyme and are oxidized to form free radicals, which in turn oxidize the actual target substances.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that a bleaching treatment of dyed textiles (such as denim articles dyed with indigo) with peroxidases of the enzyme class EC 1.11.1.7, in combination with a hydrogen peroxide source and a mediator, by a prior treatment with an organic peracid or such a peracid generating system can be significantly increased in its effectiveness or brightening effect.

A second aspect of the present invention is a textile obtainable according to the method of the first aspect of the invention. In particular, according to the second aspect, the present invention comprises a textile which can be obtained by a method according to one of embodiments [1] to [16].
Nachfolgend wird die Erfindung im Detail beschrieben. The invention is described in detail below.
This upstream treatment according to the invention (step (A)) can be carried out in different ways. It can take the form of a washing treatment in a long liquor, for example in a conventional drum washing machine (as illustrated in Examples 5 and 6). However, it can also be carried out in special machines using a so-called nebulization technique with very short liquor ratios. Such machines are currently offered by a number of manufacturers such as CORE by Tonello, E-Flow from Jeanologia, ECO Finish from CareApplications or TECHNO FLOW from VAV Technology (as illustrated in Examples 1 to 3). Preliminary application by spraying is also possible, e.g. using a conventional spray gun, whereby the treatment can be carried out over a large area (also referred to as “all over”) or specifically locally (e.g. on areas exposed during use) (as illustrated in example 4).
The upstream treatment (step (A)) can be carried out with aliphatic peroxocarboxylic acids such as peroxoformic acid, peroxoacetic acid or peroxopropionic acid or with aromatic peroxocarboxylic acids such as peroxobenzoic acid or monoperoxophthalic acid. For reasons of availability and for economic reasons, preference is given to peroxoacetic acid.
The peroxocarboxylic acid according to the invention can already be present as such or can be used in the treatment step. Peroxocarboxylic acids are usually not stable in pure form or as an aqueous dilution, ie they decompose more or less spontaneously or hydrolyze to form the corresponding carboxylic acid and hydrogen peroxide. So-called equilibrium peracids, which consist of peroxocarboxylic acid, carboxylic acid, hydrogen peroxide and water in a mixture that corresponds to the equilibrium of hydrolysis and formation from the starting materials, are therefore usually used. But you can also by combining hydrogen peroxide and a suitable active carboxyl compound such as N-acetylcaprolactam, N,N,N',N'-tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) or 1,2,3-propanetriol triacetate (triacetin) in the treatment liquor in situ are generated, the hydrogen peroxide in turn used as such or can be released from precursors such as percarbonate, perborate or carbamide peroxide.
Step (A) is typically carried out in aqueous solution, i.e. the peroxocarboxylic acid used and/or the substances used to form the peroxocarboxylic acid (and any auxiliaries used) are dissolved or dispersed in water.
The aqueous solution or dispersion typically has a pH of >5, preferably >6, more preferably >7 and even more preferably >7.5. Step (A) is preferably carried out at a pH of from 5 to 11, more preferably from 6 to 10, even more preferably from 7 to 9.5 and particularly preferably at a pH of from 7.5 to 9. Bases such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide can be used to adjust the pH.
A) can be carried out at any temperature at which the aqueous solution used is liquid. Typically, the temperature is in the range of 20°C to 70°C or even 25°C to 60°C.
The person skilled in the art is familiar with the fact that a higher concentration of the peroxocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof generally leads to a stronger bleaching effect or to a bleaching effect in a shorter time. On the other hand, an increased concentration can involve a use of material that is so high that it cannot be economical and therefore not desirable, also in view of the bleaching effect achieved. Accordingly, it may be necessary to optimize the concentration of the peroxycarboxylic acid or a salt thereof in order to achieve a particularly advantageous result. Of the A person skilled in the art can refer to the concentrations described in the examples of the present application in order to obtain corresponding points of reference for optimization.
Schritt (B):
Step (B):
The subsequent treatment (step (B)) with the peroxidase/mediator combination can likewise be carried out either in a long liquor or by means of nebulization technology in a closed machine. A spray application is also possible in principle, but since in this case the release of enzyme-containing aerosols must be avoided due to the risk of sensitization of the respiratory tract, this variant is not preferred due to the risk potential and the protective devices that must therefore be provided.
In principle, all possible forms of application of the preceding treatment can be combined in any way with all possible forms of the subsequent peroxidase treatment. Appropriate combinations can be used to control the appearance of the resulting brightening effect (e.g. in terms of contrast or color tone).
The subsequent treatment (step B) is carried out with peroxidases of the enzyme class EC 1.11.1.7 in combination with a hydrogen peroxide source and a mediator. Compounds from the group of 5-(hydroxyimino)barbituric acid derivatives such as, for example, violet acid, 1-alkylviolet acid, 1,3-dialkylviolet acid or their esters, ethers, salts or hydrates are preferably used as mediators. 5-(Hydroxyimino)barbituric acid (violet acid) is particularly preferred.
Als Peroxidquelle kann Wasserstoffperoxid als solches eingesetzt werden, es kann aber auch aus Precursoren wie z.B.Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a source of peroxide, but it can also be obtained from precursors such as e.g.
Alkalipercarbonaten, Alkaliperboraten oder Carbamidperoxid freigesetzt werden.Alkali percarbonates, alkali perborates or carbamide peroxide are released.
The pH of the aqueous solution depends on the optimum activity of the peroxidase used and must be adjusted accordingly, independently of step (A). Commercially available peroxidases often have an activity optimum in the acidic pH range. In this case, the pH can be adjusted with suitable organic and inorganic acids such as adipic acid, maleic acid, citric acid, phosphoric acid, phosphonic acid or organophosphonates and optionally buffered with bases such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. If the optimum activity of the peroxidase is at pH values above the neutral point, the pH value can be adjusted accordingly with bases. For example, alkali metal carbonates, hydrogen carbonates, acetates, citrates, phosphates or phosphonates as well as ammonia or amines are suitable for this. The aqueous solution typically has a pH <10.0, preferably <7.0, more preferably <6.0, even more preferably <5.5. Typically, the pH is in a range from 2.5 to 10.0, preferably in a range from 3.0 to 7.0, more preferably in due to the general availability of suitable peroxidases a range of 3.0 to 6.0, more preferably in a range of 3.5 to 5.5.
Typischerweise liegt die Temperatur im Bereich von 20 °C bis 70 °C oder auch 30 °C bis 60 °C.Step (B) can be carried out at any desired temperature, preferably at the activity optimum of the peroxidase used. Typically, the temperature is in the range of 20°C to 70°C or also 30°C to 60°C.
The textile is not particularly restricted in terms of its composition, i.e. it can consist of common natural or synthetic fibers or a combination of both, provided that the dyes applied are amenable to bleaching in an aqueous medium under atmospheric conditions. The textiles are preferably made of cellulosic fibers such as cotton, viscose or lyocell fibers, alone or in a mixture, or in a mixture with synthetic fibers such as polyester or elastane fibers. A preferred textile form is denim.
Direct Red 75, C.I. Direct Blue 71, C.I. Direct Black 62, C.I. Sulphur Black 1 oder C.I. Pigment Blue 66 (Indigo). The textile can be dyed with any dye or pigment, ie the dye or pigment is not limited, provided that the dye or pigment can be destroyed by the action of a peroxoxic acid in aqueous solution and/or by the action of a peroxidase in combination with hydrogen peroxide. It is preferred that the fabric is dyed with a direct, reactive, sulfur or vat dye such as CI Direct Red 75, CI Direct Blue 71, CI Direct Black 62, CI Sulfur Black 1 or CI Pigment Blue 66 (Indigo ). In particularly preferred embodiments, the textile is dyed with indigo.
In direct comparison to a peroxidase bleach alone (corresponding to step (B) of the method according to the invention), the combination of step (A) and step (B) in the method according to the present invention shows an improved effect, i.e. a more pronounced lightening of the textile.

The Y value according to CIE (as described under "Determination of the bleaching effect") was determined at 3 points (front of pants, middle thigh area) of the samples obtained in this way as the base value for assessing the application examples listed below.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=16.5 and for denim 2 Y=15.2.
In all of the exemplary embodiments described below, only materials with this standard pretreatment were used.
Zur Charakterisierung des visuellen Eindrucks der Artikel nach erfolgter Behandlung wurden auf beiden Denim-Waren jeweils die Y-Werte nach CIE mittels Datacolor International SF 600 Plus-CT, Blende 30 mm LAV, 4-fach-Messung, Kalibrierung Normlicht D 65 bestimmt. To characterize the visual impression of the items after treatment, the Y values according to CIE were determined on both denim goods using Datacolor International SF 600 Plus CT, aperture 30 mm LAV, quadruple measurement, calibration standard light D 65.
A value ΔY was calculated as a measure of the bleaching effect obtained.
This results from the Y value after treatment according to the exemplary embodiment, from which the Y value of the reference example in the corresponding type of treatment (long liquor or nebulization technique) was subtracted (exception Comparative Example 2, see there).
First, a blind treatment (simulation of treatment step A without chemicals) was carried out: denim jeans with standard pre-treatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first treated with water without additives using the misting technique (pick-up 25%, 25 min) to ensure comparability to ensure the result in terms of mechanical stress and treatment time with the examples according to the invention.
This was followed immediately by a 2-stage treatment with peroxidase (treatment step B) at room temperature (15 g/l Novozym 59127, pH 4.5 with sodium hydrogen phosphate adipic acid buffer, 45% pick-up, then 3.2 g/l H 2 O 2 , 30% pick-up, 10 min run-on), followed by an alkaline post-wash at 40 °C in a long liquor (2.5 g/l Na 2 CO 3 , FV 1:8, 10 min), finally rinsing, centrifuging and drying in a tumble dryer.
The Y-value according to CIE was determined as described in each case at 3 locations (trousers front, middle thigh area) of the samples obtained in this way.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=26.2 and for denim 2 Y=22.0.
Denim-Jeans mit Standardvorbehandlung (Denim 1 und Denim 2) wurden zunächst einem erfindungsgemäßen Behandlungsschritt A mit Triacetin und Wasserstoffperoxid in Vernebelungstechnik (3,0 ml/l Triacetin, 6,0 ml/l H2O2 35%, pH 8,5 mit NaOH eingestellt, 25% Pick-Up, 25 min) unterzogen.Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first treated in a treatment step A according to the invention with triacetin and hydrogen peroxide using the nebulization technique (3.0 ml/l triacetin, 6.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, pH 8.5 adjusted with NaOH, 25% pick-up, 25 min).
This was immediately followed by a 2-stage treatment (treatment step B) analogous to reference example 1 (peroxidase, sodium hydrogen phosphate adipic acid buffer, H 2 O 2 ) with alkaline afterwashing, rinsing, centrifuging and drying in a tumble dryer.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=34.1 and for denim 2 Y=28.6.
Im Vergleich zum Referenzbeispiel (nur Schritt (B)) führt der zusätzliche Schritt (A) zu einer deutlichen Steigerung des Bleicheffekts (Denim 1: Δ Y = 7,9; Denim 2: ΔY = 6,6).Compared to the reference example (only step (B)), the additional step (A) leads to a significant increase in the bleaching effect (denim 1: ΔY=7.9; denim 2: ΔY=6.6).
Denim-Jeans mit Standardvorbehandlung (Denim 1 und Denim 2) wurden zunächst einem erfindungsgemäßen Behandlungsschritt A mit Triacetin und Wasserstoffperoxid in Vernebelungstechnik (1,5 ml/l Triacetin, 3,0 ml/l H2O2 35%, pH 8,5 mit NaOH eingestellt, 25% Pick-Up, 25 min) unterzogen.Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first treated in a treatment step A according to the invention with triacetin and hydrogen peroxide using the nebulization technique (1.5 ml/l triacetin, 3.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, pH 8.5 adjusted with NaOH, 25% pick-up, 25 min).
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=31.3 and for denim 2 Y=27.0.
Entsprechend der geringeren Menge an Peroxocarbonsäure in Schritt (A) fällt die Steigerung des Bleicheffekts geringer aus (Denim 1: Δ Y = 5,1; Denim 2: ΔY = 5,0).Corresponding to the lower amount of peroxocarboxylic acid in step (A), the increase in the bleaching effect is less (denim 1: ΔY=5.1; denim 2: ΔY=5.0).
Denim-Jeans mit Standardvorbehandlung (Denim 1 und Denim 2) wurden zunächst einem erfindungsgemäßen Behandlungsschritt A mit N-Acetylcaprolactam und Wasserstoffperoxid in Vernebelungstechnik (3,0 ml/l N-Acetylcaprolactam, 6,0 ml/l H2O2 35%, pH 8,5 mit NaOH eingestellt, 25% Pick-Up, 25 min) unterzogen.Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first subjected to a treatment step A according to the invention with N-acetylcaprolactam and hydrogen peroxide using the atomization technique (3.0 ml/l N-acetylcaprolactam, 6.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, pH 8.5 adjusted with NaOH, 25% pick-up, 25 min).
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=33.8 and for denim 2 Y=28.4.
The use of N-acetylcaprolactam instead of triacetin as a precursor to generate the percarboxylic acid leads to a comparable increase in the bleaching effect (denim 1: ΔY = 7.6; denim 2: ΔY = 6.4)
Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (Denim 1 and Denim 2) were first sprayed on the front of a trouser leg in the thigh area to locally intensify the effect using a standard spray gun with a liquor according to the invention (6.0 ml/l triacetin, 12.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, 0.5 g/l NaOH 50%) (20% pick-up) and then subjected to a treatment analogous to example 1 without any further waiting time.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
On the trouser leg with local spray pretreatment, the mean value for denim 1 was 44.8 and for denim 2 37.2 in the center of the spray area
Durch den lokal stark erhöhten Sprühauftrag in Schritt (A) wird der Bleicheffekt in der Sprühfläche nochmals deutlich verstärkt (Denim 1: Δ Y = 18,6; Denim 2: ΔY = 15,2)Due to the locally strongly increased spray application in step (A), the bleaching effect in the spray area is again significantly intensified (denim 1: ΔY = 18.6; denim 2: ΔY = 15.2)
Denim-Jeans mit Standardvorbehandlung (Denim 1 und Denim 2) wurden zunächst einer nicht erfindungsgemäßen Behandlung, analog Schritt (A) aber nur mit Wasserstoffperoxid, in Vernebelungstechnik (6,0 ml/l H2O2 35%, 25% Pick-Up, 25 min) unterzogen.Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first treated not according to the invention, analogous to step (A) but only with hydrogen peroxide, using the nebulization technique (6.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, 25% pick-up , 25 min).
This was followed immediately by a 2-stage treatment analogous to reference example 1 (peroxidase, sodium hydrogen phosphate adipic acid buffer, H 2 O 2 ) with alkaline afterwashing, rinsing, centrifuging and drying in a tumble dryer.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=26.8 and for denim 2 Y=22.8.
A pretreatment analogous to step (A) without the presence of a peroxocarboxylic acid therefore does not lead to a significant increase in the bleaching effect of the peroxidase treatment (denim 1: ΔY = 0.6; denim 2: ΔY = 0.8)
Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first treated analogously to reference example 1 with water without additives using the nebulization technique (pick-up 25%, 25 min).
This was followed immediately by treatment with triacetin and hydrogen peroxide (corresponding to treatment step A) using the nebulization technique (3.0 ml/l triacetin, 6.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, 0.25 g/l NaOH 50%, 25 % Pick-Up, 25 min), followed by an alkaline Subsequent washing at 40 °C in a long liquor (2.5 g/l Na 2 CO 3 , 10 min), finally rinsing, spinning and drying in the tumble dryer.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
This resulted in an average value of Y=18.2 for denim 1 and Y=17.3 for denim 2.
The increase in fabric preparation (enzyme pretreatment) is significantly lower (denim 1: ΔY = 1.7; denim 2: ΔY = 2.1) than the synergistic effect of the combination of steps (A) and (B) in example 1.
Diese Behandlung wurde ein zweites Mal wiederholt (Doppelbehandlung).Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were directly (without treatment step A) a 2-stage treatment (treatment step B) analogous to reference example 1 (peroxidase, sodium hydrogen phosphate adipic acid buffer, H 2 O 2 ) with alkaline After washing, rinsing, spinning and drying in a tumble dryer. This treatment was repeated a second time (double treatment).
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=37.5 and for denim 2 Y=31.8.
If, instead of the combined treatment from steps (A) and (B), a double treatment with peroxidase is carried out, this leads to a comparable or slightly stronger bleaching effect. There one Peroxidase treatment but at the same time corresponds to a multiple of the costs of step (A) according to the invention, the combination according to the invention is considerably more economical.
Denim jeans with standard pre-treatment (Denim 1 and Denim 2) were initially only treated with water without additives (simulation of treatment step A without chemicals) in a drum washing machine (liquor ratio 1:7, 20 min at 35 °C) in order to be able to compare the results to ensure in terms of mechanical stress and treatment time with the examples of the invention.
Immediately after changing the bath, a 3-stage treatment in a long liquor (liquor ratio 1:7) with peroxidase (treatment step B) at 35 °C (5 min pre-run with sodium hydrogen phosphate adipic acid buffer at pH 3.5, addition of 5 g /l Novozym 59127, after 15 min addition of 3.2 g/l H 2 O 2 , 15 min follow-up), followed by an alkaline after-wash at 40 °C in a long liquor (FV 1:8, 2.5 g/l Na 2 CO 3 , 10 min), finally rinsing, spinning and drying in a tumble dryer.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=29.2 and for denim 2 Y=25.7.
Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first subjected to a treatment step A according to the invention in a drum washing machine with triacetin and hydrogen peroxide (3.0 ml/l triacetin, 6.0 ml/l H 2 O 2 35%, 0, 25 g/l NaOH 50%, liquor ratio 1:7, 20 min at 35 °C). After changing the bath, a 3-stage treatment (treatment step B) analogous to reference example 2 (peroxidase, sodium hydrogen phosphate-adipic acid buffer, H 2 O 2 ) followed immediately after washing with alkaline, rinsing, centrifuging and drying in a tumble dryer.
The CIE Y value of the samples obtained in this way was determined analogously to reference example 1.
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=36.0 and for denim 2 Y=31.7.
The significant increase in the bleaching effect (denim 1: ΔY = 6.8; denim 2: ΔY = 6.0) through a combination of steps (A) and (B) is therefore independent of the type of treatment chosen.
Denim jeans with standard pretreatment (denim 1 and denim 2) were first subjected to a treatment step A according to the invention in a drum washing machine with 15% equilibrium peracetic acid (7.0 ml/l BEIBLEACH PE 15, 5.0 ml/l NaOH 50%, liquor ratio 1 :7, 20 min at 35 °C).
The mean value for denim 1 was Y=35.6 and for denim 2 Y=31.6.
The direct use of the percarboxylic acid instead of generating it from a precursor leads to a comparable increase in the bleaching effect (denim 1: ΔY = 6.4; denim 2: ΔY = 5.9)
