Definitions
- the present invention relates to a screw cap intended to be mounted by screwing to close (or seal) the neck of a container and to remain attached to the container after the neck has been opened.
- the cap can be held in an open position without user intervention.
- a friction cap intended to be attached to its container after opening the neck of the container is already known. These friction caps are intended to close a container while remaining linked to the neck of the container by the effect of friction (or friction) or by clipping between the cap and the neck of the container. However, this friction cap does not have the advantages of a screw cap which makes it possible to close the neck of a container securely.
- bottling lines that are configured to mount screw caps on their containers require sometimes complex and costly adaptation to adapt the bottling line to these friction caps.
- attached caps have the disadvantage of partially closing the neck after opening, at least because of the elasticity of the device which attaches the cap to the container. Indeed, this elasticity tends to bring the plug back to a position close to a closed position.
- the neck of the container is therefore not completely open. In order to keep the neck completely open, the user is often required to manually retain the stopper in the open position in order to prevent the stopper from returning to a partially closed position of the neck.
- the object of the present invention is to overcome this drawback by proposing a screw cap intended to remain attached to the container which can be maintained in its open position (in a blocking configuration) without user intervention and at any location. around the neck of the container.
- the invention relates to a screw cap intended to remain attached to a container after the container has been opened.
- the cap attached to its container remains in the open position in a blocking configuration without the user not be obliged to manually retain the stopper in the open position after opening the container.
- the abutment has an elongated shape along a second longitudinal axis perpendicular to a plane containing the tongue.
- the abutment has an arc shape in a section plane perpendicular to the first longitudinal axis when the cylindrical wall is in the closed position.
- the abutment has a rounded free edge.
- the safety ring has a cutout adapted to accommodate the free end of the tongue.
- each of the longitudinal edges is respectively connected to the cylindrical wall by a tearable line, each tearable line being arranged to tear after the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall and a first opening of the neck of the container.
- the connecting element comprises two arms, each of the arms having a first end and a second end, the first end of each of the arms being joined to the attachment zone of the tongue to one of the longitudinal edges of the tongue, the arms diverging symmetrically on either side of the tongue towards the second end, the second end of each of the arms being connected to the safety ring.
- the second end of the cylindrical wall comprises an edge portion having an indentation, the arms being housed at least partly in the indentation by completing the edge of the second end of the cylindrical wall at the level of the notch, in that the frangible connection connects the safety ring, on the one hand, to the second end of the cylindrical wall and, on the other hand, to the arms.
- each tear line also connects each of the arms to the cylindrical wall.
- the safety ring comprises at least one blocking element arranged so that the safety ring facing the arms can press against the arms when the safety ring is forced over the retaining element. to mount the cap on the container.
- the stopper further comprises an internal cylindrical stopper skirt carried by the bottom and configured to penetrate into the neck of the container when screwing the cylindrical wall towards the closed position.
- the cylindrical wall has an outer surface comprising grip reliefs.
- the safety ring comprises an outer circular part and an inner circular part, the outer circular part extending the cylindrical wall, the inner circular part being intended to be turned over relative to the outer circular part at the interior of the safety ring during installation of the screw cap on the neck of the container, the safety ring being intended to be retained at the neck by the cooperation of the internal circular part which was turned over during its installation with the retainer.
- the safety ring comprises an external circular part and an internal circular part, the safety ring having a predefined shape in which the internal circular part is designed as a non-return clip with respect to the retaining element of the neck, the safety ring being intended to be retained on the neck by the cooperation of the internal circular part and of the retaining element.
- THE figures 1 to 4 represent several views of an embodiment of the screw cap 1 intended to remain attached to a container 2, in particular a bottle, after the container 2 has been opened.
- the stopper 1 is made of plastic material by injection molding technology.
- the plastic material can be high density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP).
- the stopper 1 comprises a cylindrical wall 3 having a longitudinal axis 4.
- the cylindrical wall 3 has the shape of a cylinder of revolution.
- the longitudinal axis 4 coincides with the cylinder axis.
- the cylindrical wall 3 has one end 5 closed by a bottom 6 and one end 7 open.
- the cylindrical wall 3 has an internal surface 8 comprising a thread 9 arranged to cooperate with a thread 10 arranged on a neck 11 of the container 2 ( figures 3 and 4 ).
- the cylindrical wall 3 is configured to be alternately in a closed position in which the cylindrical wall 3 is screwed onto the neck 11 and an open position ( figures 3 and 4 ) in which the cylindrical wall 3 is unscrewed from the neck 11 and the neck 11 is open.
- the cylindrical wall 3 further comprises a portion forming a tongue 15 extending between an attachment end 16 and a free end 17 parallel to the longitudinal axis 4.
- the attachment end 16 is connected to the cylindrical wall 3 by a hinge 18.
- the hinge 18 may correspond to a thinning of the thickness of the cylindrical wall 3 which connects the tongue 15. This thinning of thickness allows the tongue 15 to be able to be articulated to the cylindrical wall 3 at the level of the thinning.
- the tongue 15 has longitudinal edges 20 parallel to the longitudinal axis 4.
- the cap 1 further comprises a safety ring 12 extending the cylindrical wall 3.
- the safety ring 12 is intended to be retained at the neck 11 by a retaining element 13 (or counter-ring) arranged on the container 2 ( figures 3 and 4 ).
- the retaining element 13 may be a circular projection or at least a circular projection portion arranged on the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the safety ring 12 may have a cutout 30 adapted to accommodate the free end 17 of the tongue 15.
- the safety ring 12 can also be retained by an additional retaining element 29 preventing the safety ring 12 from descending towards the container 2 ( figures 3 and 4 ). Thus, the safety ring 12 is located between the retaining element 13 and the additional retaining element 29.
- the safety ring 12 is connected to the end 7 of the cylindrical wall 3 by at least one breakable connection 14.
- the breakable connection 14 is arranged to break during a first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3.
- the cap 1 also comprises a connecting element 19.
- This connecting element 19 connects an attachment zone 25 of the tab 15 to the safety ring 12.
- the connecting element 19 is arranged to allow movement (in translation) of the cylindrical wall 3 along the longitudinal axis 4 when the cylindrical wall 3 is unscrewed.
- the connecting element 19 has sufficient elasticity to allow this movement.
- the attachment zone 25 is located between the attachment end 16 and the free end 17.
- the attachment zone 25 can be located substantially halfway between the attachment end 16 and the free end 17 of the tab 15.
- the stopper also includes a stop 34 which protrudes from the tongue 15 towards the outside of the cylindrical wall 3 between the free end 17 and the attachment zone 25 of tongue 15.
- abutment 34 is adjacent to attachment zone 25.
- the tongue 15 has a blocking portion 37 between the abutment 34 and the free end 17 of the tongue 15.
- the abutment 34 is arranged so that part of the retaining element 13 is housed between the abutment 34 and the portion of blocking 37 after a tilting of the tongue 15 when the cylindrical wall 3 is brought into a blocking configuration of the plug 1 ( picture 3 ).
- the blocking configuration represented on the picture 3 corresponds to a configuration of the open position of the cylindrical wall 3 in which the circular wall 3 is prevented from returning to the closed position.
- the free end 17 of the tongue 15 forms a hard point around which the tilting is carried out to pass towards the blocking configuration.
- a wedge 38 is thus formed between the abutment 34 and the blocking portion 37.
- the retaining element 13 is housed in this corner 38 after the tilting of the tab 15 to bring the cylindrical wall 3 into the blocking configuration of the stopper 1
- the abutment 34 is then under the retaining element 13 and not on the retaining element 13.
- the elasticity of the connecting element 19 tends to prevent the release of the retaining element 13 from the corner formed by the stop 34 and the blocking portion 37.
- the retaining element 13 can be disengaged by pulling the stopper 1 by a user, for example.
- the stopper 1 can be brought into the locking configuration at any location around the neck 11.
- no element of the container 2, such as the thread 10 on the neck 11 of the container 2 prevents the stopper 1 to be brought into the blocking configuration.
- the abutment was arranged to be brought over the retaining element 13 and not under the retaining element 13, the abutment 34 and/or the blocking portion 37 could have been hindered by the thread 10 on the neck 11.
- the stop 34 has an elongated shape along a longitudinal axis perpendicular to a plane containing the tongue 15.
- the stop 34 can have the shape of an arc in a section plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 4 when the cylindrical wall 3 is in the closed position.

- Each tearable line 21 is arranged to tear after the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3 and a first opening of the neck 11 of the container 2.
- each tearable line 21 can correspond to a pre-cut line which tears when the cylindrical wall 3 is disengaged from the neck 11 of the container 2 then tilted with respect to the tongue 15, after the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3 .
- each of the longitudinal edges 20 of the tongue 15 can be connected respectively to the cylindrical wall 3 by a non-tearable line.
- the connecting element 19 may comprise at least two arms 22.
- Each of the arms has an end 23 and an end 24.
- the end 23 of each of the arms 22 is joined to the attachment zone 25 of the tab 15 to one of the longitudinal edges 20 of the tongue 15.

- the end 24 is connected to the safety ring 12.
- the assembly comprising the tongue 15 and the arms 22 may have the general shape of a cross in which the tongue 15 corresponds to the first bar of the cross and the arms correspond to the second bar of the cross.
- the attachment zone 25 corresponds to a portion of the tongue 15 to which the connecting element 19, in particular the arms 22, is connected. This portion may be substantially rectangular.
- the rectangular portion of the attachment zone 25 may substantially correspond to a rectangle, the length of which corresponds to the width of the tab 15 and the width corresponds to the width of an arm 22.
- Each of the arms 22 are sized to provide flexibility allowing the cylindrical wall 3 to move in translation along the longitudinal axis 4 when unscrewing the cylindrical wall 3 until the cylindrical wall is completely unscrewed.
- the tab 15 and the connecting element 19 then hold the cylindrical wall 3 to the safety ring 12 which is held to the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the arms 22 are sized to withstand a maximum tensile force sufficient to prevent tearing of the cylindrical wall 3 of the container. Pulling force can be set according to normal use of the cap.
- the maximum tensile force can be defined according to standards set for the opening of a cap 1.
- the arms 22 are dimensioned so that the maximum tensile force is substantially equal to 35 N.
- the end 7 of the cylindrical wall 3 can comprise an edge portion having an indentation 26.
- the arms 22 are housed at least in part in the indentation 26. At least a part of each of the arms 22 complete the edge of the end 7 of the cylindrical wall 3 at the level of the notch 26. At least a part of each of the arms 22 thus fills the space left by the notch 26.
- the notch 26 may have a shape making it possible to facilitate the screwing of the cylindrical wall 3 while avoiding a collision between the thread 9 and the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the spacing between the edge of the notch 26 and the arm 22 gradually widens starting from end 24 towards end 23.
- each tearable line 21 also connects each of the arms 22 to the cylindrical wall 3.
- the tearable line 21 which connects each of the longitudinal edges 20 to the cylindrical wall 3 extends to connect each of the arms 22 to the cylindrical wall 3
- the tearable line 21 between each of the arms 22 and the cylindrical wall 3 makes it possible to improve the hygiene of the stopper 1 when the cylindrical wall 3 is in the closed position before the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3.
- the line which connects each of the arms 22 to the cylindrical wall 3 and each of the longitudinal edges to the cylindrical wall 3 is tearable only between each of the arms 22 and the cylindrical wall 3. Said line remains non-tearable between each of the longitudinal edges to the cylindrical wall 3.
- the tearable line which connects each of the arms 22 to the cylindrical wall 3 can comprise at least one bridge which breaks after the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3 and a first opening of the neck 11 of the container 2.
- Another bridge can also connect each of the arms 22 to the safety ring 12. This bridge also breaks after the first unscrewing of the cylindrical wall 3 and a first opening of the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the safety ring 12 may comprise at least one blocking element 28. This or these blocking elements 28 are arranged so that the safety ring 12 facing the arms 22 can press against the arms 22 during a passage in force of the security ring 12 on the retainer 13 to mount the stopper 1 on the container 2 on a bottling line.
- THE figures 1 and 2 show blocking elements 28 distributed over the safety ring 12 opposite the arms 22.
- the blocking element(s) 28 may correspond to one or more projections of substantially parallelepipedal shape in one piece with the safety ring 12.
- the stopper 1 may further comprise a cylindrical skirt 31 for internal stopper carried by the bottom 6 and configured to penetrate into the neck 11 of the container 2 when screwing the cylindrical wall 3 to the closed position.
- the cylindrical skirt 31 has a longitudinal axis or cylinder axis coinciding with the longitudinal axis 4 of the cylindrical wall 3.
- the bottom 6 of the stopper 1 is arranged so that the free end of the neck 11 comes into abutment against the bottom 6 of the stopper 1 when the cylindrical wall is in the closed position.
- the cylindrical skirt 31 has the role of sealing the neck 11.
- the part of the bottom 6 which is in correspondence with the cylindrical skirt 31 can be externally raised to increase the outer surface of the stopper 1.
- the cavity delimited by the cylindrical skirt 31 and the cavity generated by the external raising of the bottom 6 adding together to form a single large smooth-walled cavity.
- a circular recess is formed between the raised part and the non-raised part of the bottom 6.
- the free end of the neck 11 of the container comes into abutment against the non-raised part of the bottom 6, when the cylindrical wall is in the closed position. This makes it possible to seal cap 1.
- the attachment end 16 connecting the tongue 15 to the cylindrical wall 3 can be at a height less than or equal to a height located at the level of the bottom 6 of the stopper 1 against which the free end of the neck 11 of the container 2 comes into abutment. , when the cylindrical wall 3 is in the closed position.
- the cylindrical skirt 31 may include a free edge having a notch (not shown) facing the tongue 15. This notch makes it easier to disengage the cylindrical wall 3 from the neck 11 of the container 2 after it has been unscrewed. It also facilitates the positioning of the cylindrical wall 3 on the neck 11 of the container 2 before the screwing of the cylindrical wall 3 on the neck 11.
- the cylindrical wall 3 may have an outer surface comprising gripping reliefs 33.
- the gripping reliefs correspond to diametrical fins regularly distributed over the outer surface of the cylindrical wall 3. These gripping reliefs 33 facilitate the unscrewing and screwing back of the cap 1.
- the tongue 15 may comprise ribs 27 projecting from the tongue 15 towards the outside of the cylindrical wall 3 ( figures 1 and 2 ). These ribs 27 originate at the level of the hinge 18 and extend substantially as far as the attachment zone 25. These ribs 27 can contribute to the rigidity of the tab 15 and to the gripping of the cap 1 to facilitate unscrewing and the screwing of the cap 1. The rigidity provided by the ribs 27 contributes to facilitating the installation of the screw cap 1 to the neck 11.
- the figures 1 and 2 have a tongue 15 comprising four parallel ribs 27.
- the safety ring 12 comprises an external circular part and an internal circular part.
- the outer circular part comes as an extension of the cylindrical wall 3.
- the inner circular part is intended to be turned over relative to the outer circular part inside the safety ring 12 during installation of the screw cap 1 at the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the safety ring 12 is thus intended to be retained at the neck 11 by the cooperation (by hooking) of the internal circular part with the retaining element 13 after the internal circular part has been turned over during its installation at the neck 11 of the container 2.
- the screw cap 1 is installed when the safety ring 12 is retained by the retaining element 13.
- the safety ring 12 comprises an external circular part and an internal circular part.
- the safety ring 12 having a predefined shape in which the internal circular part is designed in the form of a non-return clip with respect to the retaining element 13 of the neck 11.
- the safety ring 12 is thus intended to be retained at the neck 11 by the cooperation (by hooking) of the internal circular part and the retaining element 13.
- the inner circular part can be continuous all around the outer circular part. It can also be discontinuous. When it is discontinuous, it comprises a plurality of petals all around the outer circular part. Each of the petals play the role of a harpoon which retains the safety ring 12 retained at the neck 11 by the retaining element 13 arranged on the container 2.
- the cap can be used for any container 2 having a screw neck 11 .
- the stopper 1 can also have a suitable diameter for any screw container neck 11 .
