Definitions

  • the invention relates to a strength training device, such as is used to strengthen the muscles in the upper body area and/or the leg or torso muscles of a trainee.
  • the strength training device can be used in gyms as well as in the home or other environments.
  • a strength training device In connection with a device body for a strength training device, a strength training device has become known which is characterized by the fact that it can be used for different purposes, i.e. for training different body muscle groups, thanks to an optional arrangement of axes within the device body.
  • strength training devices serve to strengthen the chest or shoulder muscles and are designed in the form of a so-called chest press or a so-called shoulder press.
  • the company eGym has made known a strength training device in the form of a chest press under the name "M5", which has the features of the generic term of claim 1 (https://egym.com/de/fitnessgeraete/brustpresse/).
  • US5362297A shows a training device suitable for training upper body muscle groups of an exerciser or wheelchair user.
  • the operating arm comprises: (i) an upwardly extending first lever which is pivotally attached to the columns; and (ii) a downwardly extending second lever which is firmly connected to the upwardly extending first lever, the downwardly extending second lever terminating in a handlebar for the training device.
  • the exerciser while in the training machine, can easily change or select the type of exercise desired using the arm bar, wherein a movement of the arm in one direction firmly connects the first lever and the second lever and enables an upward and downward movement of the handle, and wherein an opposite movement of the handle firmly connects the first lever to the columns and enables a forward and backward movement of the handle.
  • Such strength training devices known from the prior art are characterized in that they are essentially only designed or suitable for training a specific muscle group. If several muscle groups are to be trained, a separate strength training device is required for each muscle group.
  • the present invention provides a strength training device according to claim 1.
  • the strength training device according to the invention with the features of claim 1 has the advantage that it is at least suitable for selectively training at least two different muscle groups. It is therefore not necessary to use a separate strength training device for each of the muscle groups.
  • the idea is to use the strength training device according to the invention to replace two training devices that are designed as a chest press or shoulder press.
  • the invention is based on the idea of being able to use a lever mechanism modified compared to the prior art to train different muscle groups. It has been found that the modification required for this can be designed relatively simply, so that the costs or the (additional) construction effort for the strength training device according to the invention are relatively low compared to a strength training device that is only used to train a single muscle group.
  • the teaching of the invention according to claim 1 proposes modifying a strength training device known from the prior art in that the at least one second articulated lever of the lever mechanism is connected to the second axis via a coupling member, and that the two axes can each be individually locked and operatively connected to the at least one unit that generates the resistance to the movement of the axis.
  • the at least two articulated levers are arranged on the same side of a rod of the operating element (i.e., for example, in the direction of a standing side of the strength training device).
  • a further embodiment of the invention proposes that when the first axis is locked, the gripping element is arranged to pivot about the second joint, and that when the second axis is locked, the gripping element is arranged to move approximately linearly.
  • the coupling member when the first axis is blocked, the coupling member is arranged either on the side facing away from or facing the first axis, and when the second axis is blocked, the coupling member is arranged on the side facing the first axis. This makes it particularly easy to implement the pivoting movement of the handle element on the one hand and its linear movement on the other.
  • a first structural design provides that the two axes are each connected to a separate unit (as a source of resistance).
  • This type of design has the advantage that no coupling device or similar elements need to be present in order to be able to bring a single unit into alternating connection with the two different axes.
  • the two axles are connected to a common unit (as a source of resistance) which can be coupled to the first or the second axle via a coupling device.
  • a further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one axis is provided which is operatively connected to an additional unit that generates resistance and is connected to an additional control element via an additional articulated lever, and that a neutral position of the axis can be set in at least two different angular positions of the additional articulated lever.
  • Such an embodiment of the strength training device makes it possible, for example, to train both the thigh muscles and the abdominal muscles or back muscles according to the different neutral positions of the articulated levers.
  • a further design of the strength training device provides that the axes coupled to the resistances or units run parallel to each other.
  • the control element and the additional control element are arranged parallel and laterally offset from one another.
  • a preferred embodiment of the strength training device has a housing in which at least the units generating the resistance are arranged within the housing, and wherein the operating element outside the housing is aligned with a plane of symmetry of the housing. This minimizes tipping moments or similar on the strength training device when forces or moments are introduced into the control elements.
  • a multifunctional strength training device 10 is shown, which is designed to be able to carry out different exercises for training different muscle groups of a trainee 1.
  • the strength training device 10 comprises a housing 12 with a plane of symmetry 14, which runs parallel to the two side walls 16 of the housing 12. According to the representation of the Fig. 1 to 5
  • the strength training device 10 has a lever mechanism 20 which serves to train both a chest muscle and a shoulder muscle and upper back muscle of a Fig. 4 to 9 symbolically represented trainee 1.
  • the lever mechanism 20 comprises a first axis 21 and a second axis 22, which are arranged parallel to each other, whereby according to the representation of the Fig.1 the first axis 21 is arranged (slightly) above the second axis 22 on the housing 12.
  • the first axis 22 is connected to a first articulated lever 25, the connection between the first articulated lever 25 and the first axis 21 being designed to be rotationally fixed or rigid.
  • the two first articulated levers 25 are each coupled to a first joint 26.
  • the two first joints 26 are also coupled to two rods 28 of an operating element 30 arranged parallel to one another. As a result, the rods 28 are arranged in the area of the first joint 26 so that they can pivot relative to the first articulated lever 25.
  • the control element 30 can alternatively be designed with two or more separate handle elements 32.
  • a second joint 35 is arranged, via which a second articulated lever 36 is pivotably attached.
  • an exemplary rod-shaped coupling member 38 is pivotably connected to the second articulated lever 36 on the one hand, and is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the second axis 22 on the other hand, via a third joint 37.
  • the two axes 21, 22 of the strength training device 10 are alternately arranged so that they are either movable or rotatable or lockable or rigid, or alternatively they can be pivoted by a small angle to the lockable or rigid arrangement.
  • Fig. 2 In a first embodiment, it is explained that the first axis 21 is operatively connected to a first unit 41 and the second axis 22 is operatively connected to a second unit 42.
  • the two units 41, 42 are designed as electromotive components, for example in the form of a permanently excited synchronous motor, and serve to provide resistance when the axis 21, 22 is rotated by the trainee 1 moving the lever mechanism 20, against which the trainee 1 must apply a force or torque in order to cause the first axis 21 or second axis 22 to rotate.
  • the two axes 21, 22 are each connected to a locking device 43, 44, which, however, instead of acting as a lock, also allows rotation by a small angle, for example an angle of a maximum of 30° of the corresponding axis 21, 22.
  • the control of both the units 39, 41, 42 and the two locking devices 43, 44 is carried out purely by way of example via a common Control device 50.
  • the control device 50 is again exemplary with a only in the Fig. 2 and 3 shown input unit 52 and a display 54.
  • the trainee 1 can select different programs or resistances of the two axes 21, 22 or the units 39, 41, 42.
  • the settings can be shown, for example, on the display 54, as can the correct execution of the movements of the trainee 1.
  • the units 39, 41, 42 or the two axes 21, 22 are connected to corresponding sensor devices for detecting the rotational angular speed or rotation or position.
  • Essential in the embodiment according to the Fig.2 is that when the first unit 41 or the first axis 21 is activated, the second axis 22 is simultaneously locked by means of the corresponding locking device 44. Conversely, when the second axis 22 or the second unit 42 is activated, the first axis 21 is locked by activating the locking device 43.
  • the sequence of figures 4a to 4c explains the functionality of the lever mechanism 20 for training different muscle groups using a so-called chest press, which serves to strengthen the chest muscles of the trainee 1.
  • the trainee 1 sits on a seat 2, which is arranged in particular in a height-adjustable manner. Starting from the Fig. 4a the trainee 1 stretches his arms 3 away from himself from a position close to his chest, in such a way that they are in accordance with the Fig. 4c are at least approximately in the stretched state.
  • the trainee 1 grasps the handle element 32 of the first lever mechanism 20 with his hands.
  • the state is shown in which the trainee 1 performs a rowing movement in which the handle element 32 is pulled towards him from a position away from the trainee 1.
  • the correspondingly adjustable seat 2 or its seat back 4 serves in particular to support the chest of the trainee 1.
  • the first unit 41 on the first axis 21 generates a resistance against the direction of the arrow 56, ie in an anti-clockwise direction.
  • the strength training device 10 is used to train the shoulder muscles of the trainee 1.
  • the first axis 21 is locked via the locking device 43, while the second axis 22 is arranged in operative connection with the second unit 42.
  • the trainee 1 pushes the handle element 32 upwards from a position approximately at shoulder height.
