Description

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einen Wischmopp. The present invention relates to a mop.

When using a mop, dirt particles from a surface to be cleaned, such as tiles, parquet, linoleum, etc., are picked up by a wiping element. The wiping element preferably comprises a robust, soft and thick material (e.g. a fleece, a foam, a sponge or a microfiber cloth). As the wiping element is used, this material becomes dirty as dirt particles picked up from the surface to be cleaned settle on and in it.

In the prior art, this problem is usually solved by periodically replacing the mop element and/or cleaning it in an appropriate manner in an external cleaning bath. Examples of this known procedure can be found in the prior art, for example in EN 10 2004 014 371 A1 , EN 10 2005 019 624 B4 or EN 10 2005 024 745 B4 . In addition, the US 3 052 905 A a device for scrubbing horizontal surfaces is known, which comprises a frame with side plates, a base plate, a front plate, a rear wall and an upper plate inclined upwards and backwards, and a tank open at the top which is supported between the side plates and the rear wall and adjoins the rear wall, wherein the upper plate begins at the front plate and ends at the open top of the tank, and which further comprises a motor carried by the base plate in front of the tank, and a transverse drive roller extending parallel to the rear plate and located above the intersection of the tank and the upper plate.

Furthermore, the EN 10 2015 105 828 A1 a mop according to the preamble of claim 1 is known.

The aim of the present invention is to provide an alternative design for a mop which has a compact structure and in which a wiping element can be reliably cleaned of dirt particles during use of the mop without having to be replaced.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a mop according to claim 1. The further claims relate to advantageous embodiments of a mop according to the invention and a method for using the same.

Advantages and features of the present invention will become apparent in particular from the following detailed description of preferred embodiments in conjunction with the accompanying figure.

Fig.1 shows a schematic section through a mop according to the invention.

The mop 10 according to the invention comprises a housing 20. An anchoring mechanism 11 for receiving a handle 12 is attached to the top 23 of the housing 20. The handle 12 serves to guide the mop 10 over a surface to be cleaned.

For the intended use of the mop 10, it is provided with a self-contained wiping belt 30, which is guided around and through the housing 20 in a manner to be explained below. This wiping belt 30 can consist of nonwoven materials or other materials particularly suitable for absorbing dirt particles.

The housing 20 of the mop 10 comprises a bottom side 21, a first side wall 22 extending approximately vertically upwards from the bottom side 21, an upper side 23 extending approximately horizontally and parallel to the bottom side 21, and a second side wall 24 extending approximately vertically downwards from the upper side 23 to the bottom side 21.

An entry slot 40 for the wiping tape 30 is provided on the upper side 23 of the housing 23.

As explained below, these serve to collect dirt particles, to collect wiping fluids or as passages for the wiping belt 30 guided through the housing 20.

In particular, inside the housing 20 in the area of the inlet slot 40 there is a mechanical dirt separator (scraper pins 44), a coarse particle collection chamber 50, a first (upper) tank 70 which is mounted approximately next to the coarse particle collection chamber 50 and is to be filled with wiping fluid, and a second (lower) tank 80 which is mounted below the inlet slot 40, the coarse particle collection chamber 50 and the first tank 70.

The second tank 80 must also be filled with wiping fluid. The same wiping fluid can be filled into both tanks 70, 80. In the simplest case, this is water, with or without the addition of a cleaning agent concentrate. The concentration of the cleaning agent added can be the same or different in both tanks 70, 80, or different cleaning agents can be used in the two tanks 70, 80.

Passages are provided inside the housing to guide the wiping belt 30 through the housing 20. Furthermore, several deflection elements are attached to or in the housing 20, such as deflection rollers 100, 101, which serve to deflect the wiping belt 30 to be guided through the interior of the housing 20.

The mop 10 according to the invention functions as follows:
The wiping belt 30, which is designed as a self-contained "endless belt", is guided around the underside 21 of the housing, from there along the first side wall 22 and along a section of the top side 23 to the inlet slot 40, from there through the lower tank 80 and the upper tank 70, from there through an outlet slot 95 out of the interior of the housing 20, around a deflection element 101 along the second side wall 24 and from there back to the underside of the housing 21.

This allows the wiping belt 30 to move around and through the housing 20 on a self-contained path, which is in the Fig.1 selected representation runs clockwise.

The part of the wiping belt 30 which is in Fig.1 facing away from the underside 21 of the housing 20 is referred to as the outer side (cleaning side) 31 of the wiping belt 30 and is the side which, when the mop 30 is used, is guided over a surface to be cleaned and comes into direct contact with dirt particles and detaches or strips them from the surface to be cleaned.

The other side of the wiping belt 30, which is opposite the cleaning side 31 and rests against the underside 21 of the housing 20, is hereinafter referred to as the inner side 32 of the wiping belt 30.

After the wiping process has been completed, a part of the wiping belt 30 that was originally in contact with the underside 21 of the housing is guided through the entry slot 40 into the interior of the housing 20. The wiping belt can be driven forward, for example, by manually rotating a drive wheel 200 connected to the deflection roller 101. In an alternative embodiment, however, servomotors can also be provided together with control electronics and operating elements that ensure the desired drive of the wiping belt 30.

The inlet slot 40 is formed by a first cheek 42 and a second cheek 43, which are opposite each other. The distance between the two cheeks 42, 43 is dimensioned such that the cheeks rest relatively tightly against the inner side 32 and the outer side 31 of the wiping belt 30 guided through them, but at the same time still allow it to slide through the two cheeks 42, 43.

The first cheek 42 at the inlet slot 40 in the housing 20 is provided with stripping pins 44 and with through openings 45 which lead from the inlet chamber 40 to a coarse particle collection chamber 50. The stripping pins 44 come into close contact with the outside 31 of the wiping belt 30 and act like a rake or a comb which, when the wiping belt 30 is moved through the two cheeks 42, 43, strips loose coarse dirt particles from the cleaning side 31 of the wiping belt 30 which have been picked up by the cleaning side 31 when wiping over a surface to be cleaned and which adhere to it.

Between the stripping pins 44 in the first cheek 42 are the through openings 45 through which the dirt particles stripped by the stripping pins 44 from the cleaning side 31 of the wiping belt 30 can reach the coarse particle collection chamber 50. Due to the interaction of the stripping pins 44 and through openings 45, the two cheeks 42, 43 of the inlet slot 40 act as dirt separators for coarse particles.

The coarse particle collection chamber 50 is provided with a flap or other suitable opening device (not shown) and can preferably be temporarily removed in its entirety from the housing 20. This enables access to the interior of the coarse particle collection chamber 50 and the dirt particles that accumulate inside it over time during use of the mop according to the invention can be removed from it and the coarse particle collection chamber 50 can thus be emptied and cleaned again.

The lower ends of the first and second cheeks 42, 43 form a passage for the wiping belt 30 into the lower tank 80. This lower tank 80 is also to be filled with a wiping fluid. The wiping belt 30 is guided from the lower end of the cheeks 43, 44 to a deflection element 100 located essentially at the bottom of the lower tank 80, from where it is then guided back up in the lower tank 80 to a passage slot 90 between the lower tank 80 and the upper tank 70 above it. This deflection element 100 can be a freely rotatable roller. The deflection element 100 can also be a rigid, essentially circular cylinder section over which the wiping belt 30 slides. Optionally, this deflection element 100 can be provided with a roughened surface on which further dirt particles are stripped from the surface of the wiping belt 30 to remain in the lower tank 80.

Because the wiping belt 30 in the lower tank 80 is first guided diagonally downwards and then diagonally upwards again, it travels a relatively long path in the wiping fluid in the lower tank 80. The wiping fluid in the lower tank 80 can thereby have an extensive effect on the dirt still in the wiping belt 30 after the rough cleaning in the dirt separator explained above and can loosen it from the wiping belt 30.

When the wiping belt 30 exits the lower tank 80, it enters the upper tank 70 located above the lower tank 80 through closely fitting cheeks 91, 92 of a passage slot 90. The distance between the cheeks 91, 92 of this passage slot 90 is dimensioned such that the material of the wiping belt 30 is slightly compressed as it slides through the gap of the passage slot formed between the cheeks 91, 92. As a result, the wiping fluid absorbed by the wiping belt 30 in the lower tank 80 is essentially pressed out of the wiping belt 30 and remains in the lower tank 80. At the same time, the dimensions of the passage slot 90 between the cheeks 91, 92 at the transition from the lower tank 80 to the upper tank 70 and the dimensions of the wiping belt 30 in the transverse and longitudinal directions of the first passage slot 90 are selected such that the wiping belt 30 guided through between the cheeks 91, 92 seals the interior of the upper tank 70 located above the lower tank 80 from the interior of the lower tank 80. As a result, the wiping fluid located in the lower second tank 80 and the wiping fluid located in the upper tank 70 practically do not mix with one another.

When using the mop 10 according to the invention, this leads to a larger amount of dirt particles accumulating over time in the lower tank 80 due to the squeezing out of the wiping fluid held in the lower tank in the passage slot 90 than in the wiping fluid in the upper tank 70.

The wiping belt 30, which has been wrung out at the second transition passage by the contact pressure of the cheeks 91, 92, is washed out again in the upper tank 70 in a wiping liquid that is significantly less contaminated than the wiping liquid in the lower tank 80, whereby even the last fine dirt particles are released from the wiping belt 30. At the same time, the wiping belt 30 in the upper tank 70 absorbs the relatively clean second wiping liquid contained therein. The upper tank 70 thus serves as a reservoir for a relatively clean second wiping liquid, even after prolonged use of the wiping mop according to the invention, with which the wiping belt 30 is wetted or saturated when it exits the housing 20.

Both the first and the second tank 70, 80 have closable drain or filling openings (not shown) through which the liquids generated during use by Wiper fluids contaminated by dirt particles can be drained and fresh, uncontaminated wiper fluids can be added.

On the side of the upper tank 70 facing the upper side 23 of the housing 20 there is an outlet slot 95 which is formed by cheeks 96, 97 and through which the wiping belt 30 is guided from the interior of the housing 20 of the mop 10.

These can again be two rigid cheeks 96, 97, similar to the cheeks 91, 92 provided in the passage slot 90 between the lower tank 80 and the upper tank 70. Preferably, the cheeks 96, 97 are attached to the outlet slot 95 so that they can be moved relative to one another. For example, a first cheek 96 (left in Fig.1 ) of the outlet slot 95, while the second cheek 97 of the outlet slot 95 is a wedge-shaped contact jaw that can be moved relative to the first cheek 96 and whose position can be adjusted from the outside using suitable means. For example, a worm gear (not shown) can be provided which, when the operator turns an adjusting wheel, ensures that the contact jaw (second cheek 97) is moved relative to the first cheek 96, thereby varying the gap width between the first cheek 96 and the second cheek 97.

By varying the gap width between the first and second cheeks 96, 97 of the outlet slot 95, the contact pressure of the contact jaw (second cheek 97) on the wiping belt 30 can be regulated and thus the degree to which the second wiping liquid absorbed by the wiping belt 30 in the upper tank 70 is wrung out again. This makes it possible to control the residual moisture of the second wiping liquid remaining in the wiping belt 30 after it exits the outlet slot 90. The residual moisture can be adjusted as required to the surface condition of the surface to be cleaned with the mop 10.

After the wiping belt 30 has exited the exit slot 95, the wiping belt 30 is guided around a deflection roller 101, which ensures that the wiping belt 30 experiences a change in its direction of movement and then rests with its inner side on the second side wall 24, along which it is guided downwards again to the underside 21 of the housing 20. Thus, the Fig.1 clockwise guided path of the wiping belt 30 around the housing 20 of the mop 10 and through it is self-contained.

In order to achieve the desired advance of the wiping belt 30, the deflection roller 101 can optionally be designed as a manually rotatable deflection roller or, in a higher-quality embodiment, as a deflection roller that can be set in rotation by electric servomotors (not shown).

The structure of the housing 20 of the mop 10 according to the invention thus comprises:
  • A dirt separator for coarse particles (scraper pins 44),
  • a first (lower) tank 80 with a long path section of the wiping belt 30 in the wiping fluid of the lower tank 80 for thoroughly removing dirt particles,
  • a passage slot 90 between the lower and upper tanks 80 and 70, which presses the wiping fluid from the lower tank 80 to a large extent out of the wiping belt 30 before the wiping belt 30 is guided into the wiping fluid in the upper tank 70, and
  • an outlet slot 95 with a variable slot width, which allows the degree of moistening of the wiping belt 30 with the wiping fluid from the upper tank 70 to be regulated.

This provides a mop according to the invention which has a compact structure and allows a wiping belt 30 to be used in a continuous operation in which a relatively clean cleaning section of the wiping belt 30, wetted with the wiping liquid supplied from the upper tank 70, is made available as required by means of manual or motor-driven advancement of the wiping belt.

Thus, with the mop according to the invention, larger areas can be cleaned quickly and thoroughly without having to replace the cleaning agents in the housing or without having to provide additional external aids such as cleaning buckets filled with cleaning agents or additional manual wringing aids for the mop belt.
