Definitions

  • the present invention relates to temporary or movable fences for to each other sites and in particular it relates to a temporary fence panel connectable with other identical fence panels to form temporary fences or barriers adapted to delimit work areas.
  • Temporary fence panels are known and widely used in construction sites to delimit and prevent access to work areas for both workers and passers-by.
  • the fence panels are movable, i.e., they are easily installable and demountable and are generally reversibly connected to each other so as to form modular fences or barriers having a desired length and shape in order to follow the peripheral extension of a given work area to be delimited.
  • the known construction site fence panels typically comprise a flat and generally rectangular metal tubular frame which forms a sort of framework to which a separating element consisting of a mesh of metal wires, a grate or grating, a screen or corrugated or flat sheet is fixed internally by welding.
  • the separating element closes an opening or passage formed by the tubular frame.
  • the wire mesh consists of a plurality of straight wires, arranged regularly spaced, parallel to each other along two orthogonal directions to form a rectangular grid, with the ends of the wires of each side of the mesh joined to each other by welding by means of a straight connecting element intended to be welded in turn to the tubular frame.
  • the tubular frame is formed by a pair of uprights to which a pair of crosspieces is fixed at opposite ends.
  • the uprights and crosspieces consist of tubular elements or tubes usually having a circular cross section.
  • frames are known in which the uprights and the upper crosspiece are made in a single body by bending a tubular element of adequate length.
  • the lower crosspiece is fixed to the uprights by inserting the ends thereof inside holes made on the external walls of said uprights and in this position the ends are fixed to the uprights by welding.
  • the diameter of the crosspiece must necessarily be smaller than that of the uprights, this creating the disadvantage of requiring tubes having two different diameters for the construction of the frame of the fence panel.
  • US 2011290194 A1 describes a circular fence for horses which is easily assembled and disassembled.
  • the fence consists of a plurality of panels fixed to each other at the ends.
  • Each panel includes a vertical pole with an L-shaped leg and six horizontal bars that are fixed vertically spaced to the vertical pole.
  • the pole and the bars consist of tubes with a circular cross section. The ends of the bars are welded to the vertical pole and for this purpose are suitably cut and shaped to conform to the curved profile of the pole.
  • US 3204606 describes a fence for livestock formed by a plurality of articulated panels which can be reversibly connected to each other.
  • Each panel is formed by a pair of uprights vertically spaced apart and connected to each other by a series of horizontal bars and a top bar so as to form a frame.
  • the horizontal bars consist of tubes with a circular cross section and are welded to the uprights.
  • the ends of the bars are suitably shaped by two 45° cuts.
  • the upper bar is preferably in a single body with the two uprights.
  • US 3002493 describes a fence for livestock formed by a plurality of panels each of which consisting of two vertical uprights and a series of vertically spaced horizontal crosspieces. The ends of the crosspieces are fixed to the uprights by welding. The horizontal crosspieces can be connected to each other by a transversal element welded thereto.
  • An object of the present invention is to improve the known temporary fence panels for construction sites and the manufacturing methods thereof.
  • Another object is to achieve a temporary fence panel for construction sites which is easy, fast and economical to be manufactured and is at the same time strong and reliable in use.
  • a further object is to provide a method for quickly and economically manufacturing a temporary fence panel for construction sites.
  • a temporary fence panel for construction sites is provided according to claim 1.
  • a method for manufacturing a temporary fence panel for construction sites is provided according to claim 10.
  • a temporary or movable fence panel 1 for construction sites of the invention is illustrated that comprises a metal tubular frame 2 and a separating element 3 internally fixed to the latter.
  • the frame 2 comprises a pair of uprights 4 and a pair of crosspieces 5, 15, one of which has opposite ends 6 fixed to the uprights 4 by welding. More precisely, in the illustrated embodiment the frame 2 comprises an upper crosspiece 15 made in a single body with the uprights 4, in particular by bending a single tubular element of adequate length, and a lower crosspiece 5 having the opposite ends 6 provided with respective coupling seats 7 fixed to the uprights 4.
  • each end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5 comprises a first portion 8 that is flattened and on which a coupling seat 7 is formed which is shaped so as to receive and abut an external wall 14 of the upright 4 to which it is fixed and to allow the lower crosspiece 5 to be fixed almost orthogonally to the upright 4.
  • the end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5 further comprises a second portion 9 that is flattened and a third portion 10 that is tapered and connected to a central body 11 of the lower crosspiece 5; the second portion 9 is interposed between the first portion 8 and the third portion 10.
  • the flattened second portion 9 is arranged almost parallel to first longitudinal axes X of the uprights 4 and second longitudinal axes Y of the crosspieces 5, 15.
  • the uprights 4 and the crosspieces 5, 15 comprise respective elongated tubular elements, for example having a circular cross section, and the coupling seat 7 has a concave semicylindrical shape, in particular with an internal diameter substantially equal to an external diameter of the upright 4, so as to receive and abut the external wall 14 of the upright 4 with reduced clearances.
  • the coupling seat 7 is obtained by plastic deformation of the respective end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5, for example using a specific die associated with a press. More precisely, the coupling seat 7 is formed by the first portion 8 of the respective end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5, which is flattened and "C" shaped by a flattening and moulding process.
  • the coupling seats 7 are made on the opposite ends 6 of the same lower crosspiece 5 so as to have the concavities facing the same side ( figure 8 ).
  • the coupling seats 7 can be made on the ends 6 of the lower crosspiece 5 so as to have the concavities opposite, i.e., facing opposite sides.
  • the coupling seat 7 is substantially coaxial to a first longitudinal axis X of the upright 4 to which it is coupled and extends along the upright 4 for a length greater than the diameter of the lower crosspiece 5, due to the flattening undergone by the end 6. Thereby, the coupling seat 7 surrounds a portion of the external wall 14 of the upright 4 large enough to ensure a correct and stable positioning at 90° between the upright 4 and the lower crosspiece 5.
  • Each end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5 is irreversibly fixed to the respective upright 4 by a weld 20 extending parallel to the first longitudinal axis X of the upright 4 and joining the external wall 14 of the upright 4 to a junction area 12 of the end 6 of the lower crosspiece 5, that is interposed between the flattened first portion 8 and the flattened second portion 9.
  • Each upright 4 further comprises a lower free end 16 arranged to engage a respective supporting element 18 in order to allow the fence panel 1 to be arranged in an erect operating configuration ( figure 3 ).
  • the separating element comprises, for example in the embodiment illustrated in figures 1 to 5 , a mesh 3 of metal wires that consists of a plurality of straight metal wires 3a arranged parallel to each other and regularly spaced along two orthogonal directions, i.e., parallel to the first and second longitudinal axes X, Y respectively of uprights and crosspieces, so as to form a substantially rectangular grid.
  • the ends of the wires 3a of each side of the mesh 3 are joined by welding to a respective connection element 3b that is welded in turn to the frame 2, so that the mesh 3 covers an opening or passage formed internally by the frame 2.
  • FIG 10 another embodiment of the fence panel 1 of the invention is illustrated which differs from the embodiment previously illustrated for the frame 2, which comprises an upper crosspiece 25 and a lower crosspiece 5 almost identical, parallel and spaced apart, having respective opposite ends 6 provided with coupling seats 7 fixed to the uprights 4 by welding.
  • the upper crosspieces 25 and the lower crosspiece 5 have the same features as the lower crosspiece 5 of the embodiment described above and illustrated in figures 1 to 8 .
  • FIG 11 illustrates a further embodiment of the fence panel 1 of the invention which differs from the embodiment illustrated in figures 1-8 for the separating element, which comprises a corrugated screen or sheet 30, in particular a trapezoidal or undulated sheet, fixed to the frame 2 so as to create also a visual barrier.
  • the separating element which comprises a corrugated screen or sheet 30, in particular a trapezoidal or undulated sheet, fixed to the frame 2 so as to create also a visual barrier.
  • the separating element 30 can alternatively comprise a flat or profiled screen or sheet, or a grate formed by vertical and/or horizontal bars.
  • the temporary fence panel 1 for construction sites of the invention is easy, fast and economical to be manufactured since it comprises at least one crosspiece 5 having opposite ends 6 fixed to the uprights 4 by welding.
  • a crosspiece 5 by virtue of the coupling seats 7 made by plastically deforming the ends 6, can be easily coupled to the uprights 4 and fixed thereto by welds 20 of adequate dimensions to ensure a solid and reliable connection.
  • the coupling seats 7 are formed according to a diameter of the upright 4 which can be greater than, less than or equal to the diameter of the crosspiece 5.
  • the coupling seat 7, which has a concave semicylindrical shape with an internal diameter substantially equal to an external diameter of the upright 4 so as to receive and abut the external wall 14 of the latter with reduced clearances, in fact allows a correct positioning of the crosspiece 5 almost orthogonal to the upright 4 and a mutual solid connection through a solid and robust weld 20.
  • the method according to the invention for manufacturing a temporary fence panel 1 for construction sites comprises the following steps:
  • the method includes plastically deforming the ends 4 of the crosspiece 5 by means of a specific die associated with a press.
  • the method also includes that the tubular elements of the uprights 4 and of the crosspieces 5, 15, 25 have a circular cross section and that plastically deforming an end 6 of the crosspiece 5, 25 comprises shaping each coupling seat 7 with a concave semicylindrical shape, in particular with an internal diameter substantially equal to an external diameter of the upright 4.
  • fixing by welding each end 6 of the crosspiece 5, 25 to the external wall 14 of the respective upright 4 comprises making a weld 20 that extends parallel to a first longitudinal axis X of the upright 4 and joining the external wall 14 of the upright 4 to a junction area 12 of the end 6, said junction area 12 being interposed between the first flattened portion 8 and the second flattened portion 9.
  • the method also includes providing a pair of uprights 4 and an upper crosspiece 15 made integral or in a single body by bending a single tubular element, and a lower crosspiece 5 having opposite ends 6 provided with respective coupling seats 7 and fixed to the uprights 4 by welds 20.
  • the method of the invention comprises:
  • the crosspieces can be securely and effectively fixed to the uprights 4, in particular orthogonally to the uprights, regardless of a diameter of the tubular elements with circular cross section which constitute such uprights and crosspieces.
  • the coupling seat 7 is formed by plastic deformation of the respective end 6 based on a diameter of the upright 4 which may be larger than, smaller than or equal to the diameter of the crosspiece 5, 25.
  • the coupling seat 7, which has a concave semicylindrical shape with an internal diameter substantially equal to an external diameter of the upright 4 so as to receive and abut the external wall 14 of the upright with reduced clearances, allows correct positioning the crosspiece 5, 25 with respect to the upright 4 and a mutual solid and robust connection by means of a weld.
  • no specific equipment is required to arrange the two tubular elements orthogonally to each other in the correct position.
