Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren mit den Merkmalen des einleitenden Teils von Anspruch 1.The invention relates to a method having the features of the introductory part of claim 1.

In the manufacture of insulating glass, apart from spacer frames formed from hollow metal profiles, thermoplastic spacers are also used, which are applied either as prefabricated strands or in situ to one of the glass panes of the insulating glass.

Connecting the ends of thermoplastic spacers is problematic because problems with tightness and air inclusions can arise in the area of the connected ends.

Various proposals for connecting the ends of thermoplastic spacers are known from the state of the art. AT 391 681 B A method and a device for closing openings in spacers are known in which plastic closing compound is pressed from a nozzle into the openings.

Out of DE 44 33 749 A1 A method and a device for applying a plastic spacer to a glass panel are known, in which the ends of the strand forming the spacer are tapered in a wedge shape, so that between the ends of the spacer applied to the glass pane there is an abutment surface which is inclined to the longitudinal direction of the spacer.

Ähnliche Vorschläge sind aus DE 10 2014 115 218 B3 und aus DE 10 2015 122 882 A1 bekannt.Similar proposals are from EN 10 2014 115 218 B3 and from EN 10 2015 122 882 A1 known.

Out of EN 10 2005 044 860 A1 is a process for producing Insulating glass is known in which spacers made from a prefabricated plastic strand are used. Between the beginning and the end of the strand, sealing compound is to be pressed in between the end surfaces of the strand.

Out of AT 390 946 B A device for forming corners and for pressing the ends of a flexible spacer that is placed on a glass panel is known. The known device has a clamp that can be pivoted through 90°, whereby one of the two clamping jaws presses the section of the spacer held by the clamp against an abutment when the clamp is pivoted. In addition, a pressure stamp that can be pushed forward transversely to the glass panel is provided, which presses the bent end of the spacer against the glass panel. A perforation tool can be provided on the clamp device, which perforates the spacer when it is held by the clamp.

Out of AT 14 493 U1 It is known to form sharp-edged corners in corner areas of a strand of deformable material applied to a pane of glass, which forms a spacer for insulating glass, by pressing a tool onto the outer corner and a tool onto the inner corner. The tools have effective surfaces that correspond to the shape of the outer corner and the shape of the inner corner.

DE 24 5 707 A1 discloses a method for producing multi-pane insulating glass, in which two panes of glass are kept at a distance by a spacer running around the edge of the panes, whereby a narrow strip of glass remains free up to the edge of the pane for a sealing compound to fill the sealing space thus formed. A closure is attached around the edge of the pane, sealing the sealing space against the outer surfaces of the panes of glass, with at least one opening through which the sealing compound can then be introduced into is introduced in liquid form while air escapes from one or more openings until the sealing space is completely filled and the sealing compound sets.

EP 1 018 590 A2 relates to a method for producing a spacer made of thermoplastic material on glass panes during the production of insulating glass panes, in which thermoplastic material is sprayed along the edge of the glass pane and in the form of a strand onto the glass pane.

Out of WO98/50664 A1 It is known to insert sealing compound into a free space between the ends of sections of a spacer.

The invention is based on the object of providing a method of the type mentioned at the outset with which the ends of spacers made of thermoplastic material can be connected in the area of corners without any problems and reliably. The invention is also based on the object of providing a device with which the method can be carried out.

This object is achieved according to the invention with a method having the features of claim 1.

The object underlying the invention is also achieved with a device which has the features of the independent claim directed to the device.

Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the method according to the invention on the one hand and of the device according to the invention on the other hand are the subject of the dependent claims.

Since the method according to the invention is used in the space between If a solidifying, in particular thermoplastic, material is introduced, in particular injected, into the ends of a spacer made of thermoplastic material, not only is air channels reliably avoided, but a visually improved appearance of the area between the ends of a spacer made of thermoplastic material is also achieved.

One advantage of the method according to the invention is that it can be used without any problems in the area of spacer corners. It is advantageous that even sharp corners of spacers can be formed.

Since in the method according to the invention the material which connects the ends of the spacer made of thermoplastic material to one another is introduced, for example injected, into a formwork made of panels, the connection, which is often unsatisfactory in the prior art, is also optically flawless.

The method according to the invention also avoids inaccuracies in dosing, which could result in a break in the spacer if underdosed (leading to a leaky insulating glass element). Overdosing is also avoided. This avoids overdosing of the material introduced between the ends of the spacer, which could cause problems during the subsequent sealing of insulating glass blanks.

It is preferred within the scope of the invention if the method is used for in situ applied spacers made of thermoplastic material. The mass introduced into the area between the ends of the spacer can also be a thermoplastic material or a plastic material which is mixed with the mass from which the spacer is formed. is compatible.

Further details and features of the invention emerge from the following description with reference to the drawings showing examples. It shows:
Fig.1
a part of a spacer, the distance ("clearance") between the ends being in the region of a corner of the spacer,
Fig.2
a complete formwork installed in the area of a sharp-edged corner of a spacer,
Fig. 3
a complete formwork installed in the area of a rounded corner of a spacer and
Fig.4
in cross-section a complete formwork which is installed in the area of the ends of the spacer.

In Fig.1 a glass pane 1 is shown, onto which a spacer 2 is applied. The spacer 2 consists essentially of thermoplastic material and is produced in situ, ie it is sprayed directly onto the glass pane 1. Alternatively, the spacer 2 can be a prefabricated strand of (thermoplastic) material that has been applied to the glass pane 1.

There is a free space 4 between the ends 3 of the spacer 2. This free space 4 is formed, for example, by stopping the application of the plastic strand forming the spacer 2 a little before the start of the application. This creates a free space 4 that has a length of 30 mm, for example.

As in Fig.1 As shown, the free space 4 between the ends 3 of the spacer 2 is in the region of a corner of the glass pane 1.

It should also be pointed out that a free space 4 between ends 3 of a spacer 2 can be present not only at the beginning and at the end of an otherwise closed spacer 2, but also in other sections of spacers 2 that have been applied (for example sprayed on) to a glass pane 1.

A formwork 8 is now arranged in the area of the free space 4 between the ends 3 of the spacer 2. In the area of the free space 4, a lateral cover plate 5 is first attached to one side, in particular the outside, of the spacer 2, adjacent to the side thereof. Then a further cover plate 6 is attached to the other side, in particular the inside, of the spacer 2, adjacent to the side thereof.

Thereafter, an upper cover plate 7 (stamp) is inserted between the areas of the cover plates 5 and 6 that protrude from the glass pane 1 beyond the spacer 2 and is moved until it rests against the free surfaces 10 of the spacer 2 facing away from the glass pane 1.

As soon as - as in the Fig.2 and 3 shown in various embodiments - by attaching the two side cover plates 5 and 6 and the upper cover plate 7, a formwork 8 (this forms a mold with a mold cavity which is delimited by the cover plates 5, 6 and 7, by the ends 3 of the spacer 2 and by the glass pane 1) which surrounds the free space 4 between the ends 3 of the spacer 2, thermoplastic material is introduced, for example injected, through the line 9 which is connected to the upper cover plate 7 and extends through it, into the free space 4 enclosed by the formwork 8 (i.e. into the mold cavity). This is shown, for example, in the sectional view of Fig.4 where it can also be seen that the side cover plates 5 and 6 may be strip-shaped ribs 11 rest against the glass pane 1.

After the thermoplastic material has been introduced into the free space 4, the ends 3 of the spacer 2 are connected to one another, and after the introduced plastic has hardened, the formwork 8 can be removed by lifting the cover plate 7 and moving the side cover plates 5 and 6 away, as shown by arrows in Fig.4 is symbolized.

The described method of closing a free space 4 between the ends 3 of a spacer 2 results in one or more of the following advantages:
  • no air duct,
  • improved adhesion to the glass pane,
  • no overflow of material next to the closure point,
  • no wear on the cover plates 5, 6 and 7 forming the formwork 8,
  • less maintenance and
  • A sharp corner can be created in the corner area.

In order to prevent the adhesion of plastic, which is introduced into the free space 4 enclosed by the formwork 8 between the ends 3 of the spacer 2, to the surfaces of the cover plates 5, 6 and 7 facing the mold cavity of the formwork 8, various measures are possible, namely:
  • Coating with release agent,
  • (at least) surfaces of the cover plates 5, 6 and 7 facing the free space 4 are made of non-stick material or
  • Cooling the cover plates 5, 6 and 7 below the dew point so that a film of water (water droplets) acting as a separating and anti-stick agent is deposited on the cover plates 5, 6 and 7.
