Abstract

Description

The invention relates to a packaging for a bicycle, in particular an electric bicycle, made of a foldable material, in particular corrugated cardboard, according to the preamble of claim 1 and a blank for such a packaging according to claim 12.

Such packaging is already known in various designs. Simple corrugated cardboard panels have been known for a long time, which are placed around a bicycle in the manner of book packaging. The disadvantage here is that the corrugated cardboard is easily destroyed on exposed parts of the bicycle, so that the corresponding parts of the bicycle are not protected.

The JP 2000-355 301 A describes a bicycle packaging made of corrugated cardboard with two essentially shell-like packaging halves, which are adapted to the size of a bicycle and which abut one another on an upper side along an abutment line. The bicycle packaging is sealed there with an adhesive tape. On the upper side, the packaging halves have fastening strips for the bicycle that are defined via perforations, which can be folded into the interior of the packaging and are fixed to a surface of the bicycle saddle with adhesive tape to fix it. Adhesive tape is necessary here as additional packaging material.

From the EP 0 765 823 A1 a parallelepiped-shaped container, at least partially made of sheet metal, plastic or cardboard, is known for receiving several bicycles. A container body made of cardboard is attached to a wooden pallet floor, the vertical edges of which are reinforced with square profiles. Wheels of the bicycles are received in receiving slots, which are angled to the pallet bottom, of receiving elements made of cardboard, which are folded into a prism shape. The construction of the container from different materials is complex and disadvantageous with regard to the removal of a worn-out container.

Due to the increasing popularity of bicycles and the increasingly extensive mail-order and Internet trade, bicycle packaging is increasingly required for shipping to private customers. The demands on bicycle packaging are increasing due to the ever increasing variability of bicycles, such as the distinction between touring bicycles, racing bicycles, mountain bikes and, most recently, electric bicycles and so-called pedelecs. Against this background, there is a need to simplify a shipping process for a bicycle.

The object of the invention is therefore to create a generic packaging or a blank for such, with which handling is simplified both when loading a bicycle and when unpacking.

The object is achieved with the features of claims 1 and 12.

In a first aspect, the invention provides a packaging for a bicycle made of a foldable material, in particular corrugated cardboard. The packaging has a base section intended to accommodate wheels of the bicycle, which is surrounded by a front wall that is essentially adapted to the longitudinal dimensions of the bicycle and a rear wall opposite this and by opposite side walls connecting the front wall and the rear wall on both sides, a holder for fixing a seat post or a saddle of the bicycle to be recorded or a holding device for a head tube or a handlebar of the bicycle to be recorded and at least one device for fixing a bicycle wheel. The packaging according to the invention or the blank according to the invention is for the transport and / or presentation of a bicycle, a bicycle with the assistance of an electric motor when the pedal is operated as intended, a so-called pedal electric cycle, which is colloquially referred to as a pedelec, and / or a Electric bike, an e-bike in which an electric motor support can also be activated without pedaling, is determined and suitable. The invention has the advantage that a bicycle can be introduced into and removed from a packaging that accommodates it from a side that essentially corresponds to the longitudinal dimensions of the bicycle. This advantageously eliminates the need for force-intensive loading of the packaging from above, as was previously necessary with the bicycle packaging known in the prior art. Another advantage is that the packaging according to the invention is constructed exclusively from the foldable material, in particular corrugated cardboard, without any additional other materials, and can be used for other purposes after use as intended. Furthermore, the packaging made from just one material is ecologically degradable.

In one embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, the front wall sections are hinged to the side walls at a distance from the bottom section. This makes it easier to open the packaging and stabilizes the opened packaging, in particular with the front wall sections unfolded, against a tipping moment.

The front wall sections preferably each have a raised standing or support section for supporting on the base, which is defined by at least one perforation line. The front wall sections can thus be more easily folded away from the front of the packaging.

In another embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, a perforation line is also provided on the front wall sections to the top of the packaging formed by the lid section, which line forms protruding support sections towards the center of the packaging and upwards.

In a further embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, one of the front wall sections between the bottom and the lid is penetrated by a tear-off perforation, laterally projecting a connecting tab that is connected to the other front wall section when the packaging is closed. The connecting strap is preferably connected to the other front wall section in a force-locking manner.

In one embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, the tear perforation runs parallel to the side walls. This makes the process of opening the package easier.

In a further embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, a preferably circular engagement section is provided at one end of the tear perforation, with which opening of the closed packaging can be initiated. In a preferred embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, the receiving section of the one front wall section for fixing or fixing the connecting tab of the other front wall section is formed by a preferably elongated recess at the edge of the one front wall section, which is opposite the associated side wall, and a recess surrounding the recess and protruding from the front wall section Flap formed. Both the retaining strip and the hinge strip are advantageously formed from the foldable material of the packaging, in particular from corrugated cardboard, which on the one hand facilitates the manufacture of the packaging and the recycling of the packaging.

Preferably, the hinge strip for fixing the head tube at a free end has a lock surrounding the head tube for securing or securing the head tube of the bicycle to be picked up against movement perpendicular to the front or rear wall with a dovetail lock.

The at least one device for fixing a bicycle wheel can be formed within the scope of the invention by a fixing strip hinged to one of the side walls and the bottom section. The fixing strip advantageously fixes the bicycle wheel with two strip sections angled to one another.

In a preferred embodiment, the fixing strip has a recess section for receiving the bicycle wheel, which is surrounded on at least one side by mutually opposite tab sections. If two fixing strips are provided, the strips secure the respective wheel of the bicycle against movement in the opposite direction.

In a further preferred embodiment of the packaging according to the invention, both the holder for fixing a seat post or a saddle of the bicycle to be picked up and the holding device for a head tube or a handlebar of the bike to be picked up are provided.

If the packaging according to the invention is equipped with the strips described above, a second use can be achieved after removing the transported bicycle, in which elements serving to fix parts of the bicycle can be used as shelf elements to be positioned horizontally. The packaging can then be used with advantage as a shelf or, when the front wall sections are closed, as a cabinet.

It goes without saying that in addition to the adhesive bonds closing the packaging, clamps can also be used. It is also to be considered within the scope of the invention to include connections between two parts instead of to be carried out by gluing by clamping and other equivalent connection techniques.

In a preferred embodiment of the blank according to the invention, an extension of at least one of the front wall sections along the side wall section is shortened relative to the latter, so that the fixing strip and the at least one front wall section are spaced from one another. Both front wall sections are preferably correspondingly shortened in relation to the respective side wall section, so that a gap is formed in the blank between the fixing strips and the front wall sections.

A packaging can be erected from the different variants of the blank, which can be adapted to different types of bicycles. The front wall sections 10, 12 have, in the region of their edges opposite the respective strips 28, 44, 28, 56, perforation lines 67 that are introduced from the side wall sections 14, 16 and run parallel to the edges. The perforation lines 67 run out towards the free edges of the front wall sections 10, 12 with the formation of upright or support sections 68 in a curve.

The fixing strips 28, the holding strips 44 and the hinge strips 56 are locked with the aid of the locking elements 30, 33 when a package is set up. For this purpose, slots 69 are provided on the locking elements 30, 33, which interact with locking tabs 71 positioned precisely on the side wall sections 14, 16.

If the packaging 11 according to the invention is to be equipped with a bicycle, the fixing strips 28 must first be attached to the bottom section 4 with the aid of the connecting elements 32. The wheels 75, 77 are partially surrounded towards the rear wall 2 and towards the front by longitudinal halves of the strip sections 36, 38 divided by the cutting line 37. If a bicycle is received with the packaging 11 according to the invention, the wheels of which have a smaller diameter than the wheels 75, 77 shown, then it goes without saying that the wheels are then correspondingly surrounded in the area of the side walls 14, 16 by several pairs of strap sections 42. In the case of the bicycle 73 shown, a recess is formed to accommodate the wheels 75, 77, which recess is longer than the recess portion 40 of the blank 1 specifies.
