Definitions

  • the invention generally relates to material processing of workpieces by severing the workpiece along provided lines.
  • the method of scratching is often used.
  • the glass is first scratched along a line and then broken by exerting a bending stress on the line.
  • the edge surface resulting from rupture on the line can no longer run along it and then no longer stands perpendicular to the side surfaces.
  • a method for fracture preparation of a substrate with one or a group of ultrashort laser pulses is achieved by generating spaced-apart lilaments
  • WO 2017 / 009379A1 describes an extension of this method, whereby modifications running obliquely to the surface of the substrate are produced.

While the methods described in these references do not produce equidistant material modifications with lower breaking stress in the thickness direction of the material, the length of the material modification is disadvantageously limited to typically not more than about 3 mm. Another disadvantageous effect of the uneven intensity distribution on the required high positional accuracy of the glass plate relative to Line focus off: Even if the glass plate is much thinner than the length of the line focus, it must be kept at a distance of about 50mhi between the plate and the optics.
