Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of openings, also called leaves or gates, and more precisely to the field of openings for gates such as those that can be found in private gardens.
  • the invention relates to a method of mounting an opening which can be carried out by an individual who does not have any particular skills or tools for mounting such an opening.
  • a gate comprises two posts fixed rigidly and securely in the ground, for example using a concrete slab, an opening, a connection between the opening and the posts, and a mechanism for actuating the opening.
  • the invention is also suitable for the case in which the opening is intended to remain fixed between the posts, so as to provide a definitive closure, the actuating mechanism then being absent in this case.
  • the opening is made up of stiles and rails fixed together.
  • a filler fills the space between the rails.
  • the position of the posts between which the sash is intended to be mounted is determined by the length of the sash, so if the posts are already installed, such a solution is inadequate.
  • the invention relates to a method of mounting an opening of adaptable length, in particular for a gate between two fixed posts, according to claim 1.
  • the method further comprises, before fixing the sleepers to the second upright, fixing a filler between the two sleepers.
  • Each sleeper is provided with a filler groove extending along the length of each sleeper.
  • the filler grooves of the two sleepers are opposite each other when the sleepers are fixed to the first upright.
  • the filler is inserted by sliding into the filler grooves between the two sleepers.
  • the fixing to the second upright ensures that the filler is held in position between the two sleepers.
  • the filling comprises at least one solid panel.
  • the process then includes calculating a suitable length for the panel based on the distance between the posts, and cutting the infill panel to the suitable length. This eliminates the need to cut multiple elements to fill the space between two facing crosspieces.
  • the filler panels are made from a material that is particularly suitable for user cutting.
  • the filling comprises, alternatively or in addition to a solid panel, a plurality of stacked bars or slats.
  • the opening comprises at least three crosspieces, each crosspiece being fixed at a different height on the uprights and at least two filling panels, each panel being fixed between two crosspieces.
  • the user has five elements to cut per opening, namely two filling panels and three crosspieces, to obtain a complete opening, ready to be mounted between two posts, of suitable length.
  • each crosspiece has two ends and two reference marks to identify each end, each reference mark having a unique correspondence on only one of the uprights.
  • the assembly of the crosspieces to the uprights is thus guided, limiting the risks of incorrectly positioning the crosspieces on the height of the uprights.
  • the crosspieces are fixed to the uprights by screwing.
  • the fixing can thus be easily carried out by the user using common tools.
  • the crosspieces are screwed onto the uprights by inserting screws into an outer face of each upright, the screws passing through an inner face of the upright.
  • the screws are thus easily put in place through the outer face of the uprights, which is fully accessible, the crosspieces being in contact with the inner face of the uprights.
  • At least one upright includes two tabs extending on either side of the outer face over the entire height of the upright.
  • the method then includes fixing a closure to the tabs by snap-fastening, masking the screws.
  • the aesthetics of the final gate are thus enhanced.
  • the screws are masked, in order to protect them from external elements, but also from malicious attempts at intrusion.
  • At least one upright comprises two legs extending on either side of the inner face over the entire height of the upright.
  • the method then comprises fixing a closure provided with a rebate on the legs of the upright by snap-fastening.
  • the rebate can then come into abutment against an upright of another opening, in order to provide closure of a possible space between the uprights of two openings of a gate.
  • At least one of the crosspieces comprises a reinforcement bar for fixing the motorization.
  • the invention relates to a kit for at least one opening of adaptable length according to claim 9.
  • a gate 1 comprising two openings 2 of adaptable length in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
  • the two openings 2 are installed to provide a closure between two posts 3 already installed, for example fixed to the ground in concrete slabs.
  • Each opening 2 comprises at least two uprights 4, and at least two crosspieces 5. Depending on the embodiment of the figure 1 , each opening 2 comprises three crosspieces 5.
  • a filling can fill the space between the two uprights 4 and the crosspieces 5 two by two of each opening 2.
  • the filling comprises solid panels 6.
  • the filling may comprise grid bars, a mesh, or any other suitable element such as a plurality of stacked bars or slats.
  • the filling panels 6 comprise a central layer of high-density foam pressed between two aluminum sheets.
  • the crosspieces may not be perpendicular to the uprights; the uprights may also not be vertical.
  • Each upright 4 extends in a longitudinal direction, which is substantially the same as the vertical direction according to the embodiment of the figure 1 , between two ends, called upper end 4a and lower end 4b , with reference to their position in the vertical direction when the openings 2 are assembled to the posts 3.
  • the dimension of the uprights 4 between the two ends 4a and 4b is called height.
  • the crosspieces 5 extend in a longitudinal direction, which is substantially the same as the horizontal direction according to the embodiment of the figure 1 , between two ends 5a, 5b.
  • the dimension between the two ends 5a, 5b of the crosspieces is called length.
  • Each upright 4 is in the form of a profile, for example made of steel or aluminum or plastic and for example obtained by extrusion.
  • the section of each upright 4 is the same over the entire height of the upright 4.
  • the two uprights 4 of an opening are identical, facilitating stock management and reducing manufacturing costs. However, it may be otherwise.
  • Each upright 4 thus comprises a core 7, of substantially rectangular or square section.
  • the core 7 may be hollow, and may comprise ribs and grooves in the hollow in order to provide the mechanical resistance, in particular in terms of bending and buckling, required.
  • the core 7 comprises four outer faces, that is to say oriented towards the outside of the hollow, and designated as an inner face 7a , an outer face 7b and two lateral faces 7c connecting the inner face 7a to the outer face 7b.
  • the upright 4 comprises two legs 8, each extending in the extension of a lateral face 7c, on either side of the inner face 7a. The minimum distance between the legs 8 is greater than or equal to a dimension of the crosspieces 5 other than their length, as will be explained later.
  • the upright 4 further comprises two tabs 9 each extending in the extension of a lateral face 7c, on either side of the outer face 7b.
  • the free end 9a of the two tabs 9 are opposite each other, the two tabs 9 and the outer face 7b forming a C, and are shaped to allow the snap-fastening assembly of a closure, as will be seen later.
  • the legs 8 and the tabs 9 are preferably aligned with the lateral faces 7c which they extend, so that a person placed in front of one of the lateral faces 7c sees only a single continuous face, for a pleasant visual rendering of the upright 4.
  • each crosspiece 5 is in the form of a profile, for example made of steel or aluminum or plastic and is for example obtained by extrusion.
  • the section of each crosspiece 5 is the same over the entire length of the crosspiece 5.
  • each crosspiece 5 also comprises a core 10 of substantially rectangular section, and hollow in its center. Ribs and/or grooves may be provided on the core 10 in its center in order to provide the required mechanical resistance, particularly in terms of bending.
  • the core 10 of each crosspiece 5 then comprises an upper face 10a, a lower face 10b and two lateral faces 10c connecting the upper face 10a to the lower face 10b.
  • the dimension of the crosspiece 5 measured between the two lateral faces 10c is less than or equal to the minimum distance between the legs 8 of the uprights 4.
  • the crosspieces 5 may be identical, but not necessarily.
  • the opening 2 comprises three crosspieces 5, namely an upper crosspiece, a lower crosspiece and an intermediate crosspiece placed between the upper crosspiece and the lower crosspiece according to the height of the uprights 4, the intermediate crosspiece 5 must allow the assembly of two filling panels 6, while each of the upper crosspiece 5 and the lower crosspiece 5 must only allow the assembly of one assembly panel 6.
  • Crossing 5 of the figure 3 thus comprises two pairs of arms 11 extending in the extension of lateral faces 10c of the web 10 of the crosspiece 5. More precisely, the two arms 11 of a first pair extend on either side of the upper face 10a and two arms 11 of the second pair extend on either side of the lower face 10b. The free ends of the arms 11 of a pair are opposite each other, so that the arms 11 form a C with the upper face 10a or the lower face 10b which they frame.
  • the distance between the free ends of the arms 11 of a pair defines the maximum thickness of the filling panel 6.
  • the thickness of the panel 6 is substantially equal to the distance between the free ends of the arms 11 of a pair.
  • ribs 12 may be provided projecting from the face 10a and from the lower face 10b.
  • the ribs 12 define with the arms 11, for each face 10a, 10b, a filling groove, to allow a filling panel 6 to be inserted therein.
  • a reinforcing bar 13 can be assembled on the crosspiece 5.
  • the reinforcing bar 13 is a bar, for example made of steel or aluminum, slid into the hollow of the web 10 of the crosspiece 5, on a face opposite one of the lateral faces 10c.
  • the thickness of the reinforcing bar 13 is greater than the thickness of the wall of the web 10 of the crosspiece 5.
  • the core 10 further has receiving members 10d extending into the hollow of the core 10, these receiving members 10d being provided to allow tightening by screwing with the uprights 4 as will be seen later.
  • the upper crosspiece 5 and the lower crosspiece 5 only cooperate with a filling panel 6, they can each have only one pair of arms 11. More precisely, the upper crosspiece 5 does not include an arm 11 framing the upper face 10a, and the lower crosspiece 5 does not include an arm 11 framing the lower face 10b. No reinforcement for fixing the motorization is also required on the upper crosspiece 5 and the lower crosspiece 5.
  • the opening 2 further comprises a closure for each upright, intended to close the opening between the ends 9a free of tabs, as will be explained later.
  • two types of closure are provided: a first type of closure 14 called simple, shown in the figure 4 , and a closure 15 called a beaten one, shown on the Figure 5 .
  • the simple closure 14 is for example a profile obtained by extrusion, in steel, aluminum, or plastic, and comprises two snap-on tabs 14a , which are shaped and sized to snap between the tabs 9 of the uprights 4.
  • the tabs 14a of the simple closure 14 have a flexibility suitable for obtaining the snap-on.
  • the simple closure 14 further comprises a cap 14b connecting the two tabs 14a and intended to cover the opening between the tabs 9 of the uprights 4.
  • the rebate closure 15 is substantially similar to the simple closure 14, in that it has tabs 15a for snapping between the tabs 9 of an upright 4, and a substantially flat cap 15b intended to cover the space between the tabs 9 of the upright 4. However, it additionally comprises a rebate 15c, extending in projection from the cap 15b.
  • the rebate 15c may have at its free end a claw 15d intended to engage with an element of an upright 4 of another opening 2 in order to ensure good closure between two uprights 4 of the two openings 2 of the gate 1.
  • a kit for opening 2 that is to say a set comprising the components of the opening 2 unassembled, is delivered to a user in separate parts.
  • the two uprights 4, the three crosspieces 5, the two filling panels 6 and the closures 14, 15 are not assembled.
  • the dimensions of these elements are standard, they are not personalized by the user at the time of ordering.
  • the screws necessary for assembly are also provided.
  • a user manual is advantageously provided with the opening 2.
  • a gate generally comprising two openings 2
  • the kit includes the components to mount the two openings 2.
  • the user makes a simple calculation to obtain a suitable length of the crosspieces 5 of the opening 2. This is typically a subtraction from the length L between the posts 3 of the dimensions to be taken into account, the whole being divided by two in the case where the gate 1 includes two openings 2.
  • each crosspiece 5 may be provided to cut each crosspiece 5 to a specific length, different from those of the other crosspieces 5, to obtain an opening deviating from the general rectangular shape.
  • the instructions then include instructions for calculating the length of each crosspiece 5 for this purpose.
  • the instructions indicate a calculation to be carried out in order to obtain a suitable length for the infill panels 6.
  • the other dimension of the panels 6, namely their height, is not modified in this embodiment. This calculation can be made from the measurement L of the length between the two posts 3, or from the suitable length calculated for the crosspieces 5.
  • the calculation of the suitable length of the infill panels 6 is again simple, being a subtraction and possibly a division by two.
  • solid infill panels 6 is particularly suitable for the process involving the cutting of the infill. Indeed, most known gate openings comprise a plurality of stacked bars or slats, so that a step involving the cutting of all these elements would be tedious for the user. Thanks to the solid panels, the number of elements to be cut is limited, in this case to two panels 6 according to the embodiment of the figures, per opening 2. In addition, the production of the panels 6 which comprise a central layer of high-density foam pressed between two aluminum sheets makes it easy to cut the panels 6 to the correct length for a user equipped with general public, non-specific tools.
  • the upright 4 may include holes provided for the insertion of screws, the holes passing through the inner face 7a and the outer face 7b of the web 7 of the upright 4 to cooperate with the receiving members 10d of the corresponding crosspiece 5.
  • the screws are preferably self-tapping, so as to form the thread in the receiving members 10d of the crosspieces 5 to ensure tightening.
  • the position of the screws on the upright 4 is provided to be in conformity with the height of the infill panels 6.
  • the screws are manipulated from the outer face 7b of the second upright 4, which is easily accessible to the user.
  • the screws are suggested by broken lines on the figure 7
  • a system of locating marks in which the two ends 5a, 5b of the crosspieces 5 are identified, for example A, D for a first crosspiece 5, B, E for a second crosspiece 5 and C, F for a third crosspiece 5, as illustrated in the figure 7 .
  • Each upright 4 then also includes three reference marks, each corresponding to a single mark on a single crosspiece 5.
  • the first upright 4 includes the marks A, B, C, distributed over its height, at the location where the screws are intended to be inserted
  • the second upright 4 includes the marks D, E and F, distributed over its height, at the location where the screws are intended to be inserted.
  • the reference marks are for example carried by labels stuck on a single lateral face 7c of the uprights 4 and a single lateral face 10c of the crosspieces 5 before delivery to the user. They can however be stuck by the user according to the instructions provided in the instructions.
  • the marks of the crosspieces 5 are either distributed at regular intervals along the length of the crosspiece 5, or are easily repositionable, so as to be visible even after cutting to the appropriate length.
  • a crosspiece 5 intended to be an intermediate crosspiece will not be positioned like a crosspiece 5 intended to be an upper or lower crosspiece.
  • errors in orientation of the crosspieces are limited.
  • the crosspiece 5 intended to be the upper crosspiece will be correctly oriented so that its single filling groove formed by the arms 11 and the ribs 12 is opposite a filling groove of the intermediate crosspiece. The same is true for the lower crosspiece 5.
  • Each filling panel 6 is then slid between two crosspieces 5, in the filling grooves opposite the two crosspieces 5.
  • the crosspieces 5 are fixed to the second upright 4, following the reference marks.
  • the second end 5b of the crosspieces is brought into contact with the inner face 7a of the second upright 4.
  • One or more screws are inserted between the second upright and each crosspiece 5 in the same manner as described for the first upright 4, ensuring the clamping between the second upright 4 and the crosspieces 5.
  • the screws are manipulated from the outer face 7b of the second upright 4, which is easily accessible to the user.
  • the filling panels 6 are thus at this stage trapped between the crosspieces 5 and the uprights 6, and can no longer be removed except by dismantling an upright 4.
  • the filling can alternatively be bars of a grid, or a wire mesh element or any other element suitable for closing the space between the crosspieces 5.
  • the legs 8 of the uprights make it possible to hide the connection between the uprights 4 and the crosspieces 5 and partially cover the filling panels 6, limiting the risk of damage, for example in the event of an attempted intrusion.
  • a simple closure 14 and a rebated closure 15 can be put into position by snapping onto the tabs 9 of the uprights 4.
  • the closures 14, 15 ensure the closure of the uprights to limit access to the screws and reinforcing the security provided by the gate 1, while providing a pleasant visual appearance.
  • caps can be added to the ends of the closures and/or uprights, for example by gluing.
  • the gate 1 When the gate 1 includes a second opening 2, this is mounted in the same way, except that its two uprights 4 are each closed by a simple closure 4.
  • the two openings 2 can be assembled to the posts 3.
  • the elements for creating a hinge connection are provided to the user.
  • a stop 16 intended to be fixed in the ground, can also be provided.
  • the actuating mechanism can be put in place, for example between each post and the intermediate crosspiece 5 reinforced by the bar 13 of each opening 2.
  • the user can adapt the length of the leaves themselves to suit an existing configuration.
  • the elements of the 2-leaf can all be delivered in standard dimensions, so manufacturing costs are reduced.
  • the user simply follows the assembly instructions to obtain a gate adapted to their needs.
  • the number of elements to be cut to the correct length is limited to the three crosspieces 5 and the two filling panels 6 per opening, which can be easily done by the user.
  • the height of the uprights 4 can also be adapted to suit requirements by also proposing to cut them to a specific height.
  • the height of the infill panels 6 is also adapted by a cutting step.
  • the instructions for this purpose are included in the instructions.
  • the gate 20 is sliding and comprises two openings 2 similar to those described above, with the difference that they share a common lower crosspiece 21 , and a common upper crosspiece 22 , extending along the length of the two openings 2 and beyond.
  • the crosspiece 22 lower is then provided with wheels 23 to ensure the sliding of the gate 20 for example by cooperating with a rail fixed to the ground.
  • the instructions then provide the calculation to be carried out to obtain the appropriate length for the upper crosspiece 21, the lower crosspiece 22 and each of the intermediate crosspieces 5, from the distance L measured between two posts between which the openings extend when the gate 20 is closed.
