Gattungsgemäße Druckmaschinen gehen beispielsweise aus der EP 3 427 962 A1 , der US 2015/273866 A1 oder der EP 2 130 680 A1 hervor.Generic printing presses go, for example, from the EP 3 427 962 A1 , the U.S. 2015/273866 A1 or the EP 2 130 680 A1 out.

When printing a textile, it is generally known to carry out a pretreatment with a pretreatment fluid before the printing ink is applied. Such a separate off-line pretreatment device is, for example, from EP 3 461 646 A1 known. The
Basically, pretreatment fluid is not a paint, but a preferably transparent liquid, which serves to penetrate the fibers of the textile fabric and to pretreat them in such a way that an undesired flow of the printing inks to be applied later is counteracted. The pre-treatment usually takes place in a separate station, preferably on a separate machine. After spraying on a pretreatment fluid, the textile is dried under the influence of heat, which can be done by means of radiant heaters or hot plates.

Furthermore, it is known, particularly when printing colored, in particular black, textiles, to apply a primer color, in particular a white color, before the actual print motif is applied. The application of the primer color can be done with a digital printing press with the same print head as the following colors or with a separate print head. Such a printing machine is, for example, from EP 2 130 680 A1 known.

Furthermore, it is fundamentally known to fix the applied print motif at the end of the printing process, in particular under the influence of heat. For this purpose it is also known to use radiant heaters or heating plates for the final processing step.

When printing textiles, the goal is to apply a print motif that is as precise and sharply contoured as possible to the three-dimensional fabric structure of the textile.

The invention is based on the object of specifying a printing machine and a method for printing textiles, with which a high-quality print motif can be applied to a textile in a particularly efficient manner.

The object is achieved on the one hand by a printing machine having the features of claim 1 and on the other hand by a method having the features of claim 7 . Preferred embodiments of the invention are given in the dependent claims.

The printing machine according to the invention is characterized in that at least one press device is arranged between the priming device and the printing device along the processing path, which press device is used for pressing the Motive area is formed with the applied priming color, and that the textile can be transported by means of the at least one conveyor from the priming device to the press device and from the press device to the printing device.

A basic idea of the invention can be seen in applying a primer color in a primer device and then pressing it in a press station before it is printed with the actual print motif. In this way, a smoothed motif area can be created, in particular on a partial area of the textile. In this motif area, the three-dimensional structure of the fabric of the textile is leveled and leveled to a considerable extent by the applied primer color and the subsequent pressing, so that the actual print motif can then be applied to this leveled motif area. Since the macroscopic, three-dimensional fabric structure in the motif area is reduced or even largely eliminated, the printed motif can be applied with particularly great precision and contour sharpness. The step of pressing the primer color before printing also increases the longevity of the applied print motif.

In principle, the pressing in the printing machine can be carried out with any suitable press device, for example with a press roller. According to one embodiment of the invention, it is particularly preferred that the press device has at least one press plate which can be heated. The size of the pressing plate corresponds at least to the size of the motif area. The press plate can preferably be heated to a defined press temperature, which is in particular between 60° C. and 150° C., depending on the primer color used. The textile is preferably clamped and pressed between a lower press or base plate and an upper press plate.

By pressing with a press plate, a particularly even and flat structure of the motif area is achieved, even with a relatively coarse fabric. In addition, an additional smoothing and pressing of fine fiber filaments can be achieved especially with multifilament fibers, especially fibers with natural components or natural fibers, especially a cotton or cotton blend fabric, which from the natural fibers, even with a previously carried out pretreatment with a pretreatment fluid, above. The heating achieves particularly good smoothing and also rapid drying of the primer paint.

A preferred embodiment of the printing machine according to the invention consists in the fact that the priming device has at least one application nozzle for applying the priming color. The one or more application nozzles can be arranged in a print head which extends statically over the motif area of the textile to be primed or which can be moved transversely to the direction of movement of the textile.

In principle, the at least one conveyor device can have a single pallet or a plurality of pallets, each of which holds a textile and is moved linearly reversing or revolving along the processing path. A particularly preferred embodiment of the invention can be seen in the fact that at least two parallel, adjacent conveying devices are provided, and that the at least one priming device and/or the at least one printing device have the same position for each conveying device in relation to the respective processing path. The conveying devices can also have linearly reversing moving pallets or circulating conveyor belts. With such a twin arrangement with two adjacent conveying devices, efficient use of personnel and also efficient use of the processing units on the priming device or the printing devices can be achieved.

It is particularly advantageous that the adjacent priming devices and/or printing devices each have a common guide bar above the conveyor device, along which application nozzles for the priming color and/or print heads of the printing devices are mounted so as to be movable transversely to the processing path. The applicator nozzles and/or the print heads are mounted on a respective common guide bar in such a way that they can basically process a textile both on the first conveyor device and on the second conveyor device. This allows a particularly efficient use of the processing units and also allows continued operation of the printing press, even if a print head on one of the conveyor devices fails is, since this function can be performed by the second print head on the conveyor.

A preferred embodiment of the invention is that the priming device and the printing device are formed in one station. The priming device and the printing device can thus be formed at the same place, with the press device being spaced therefrom. The textile is first provided with a primer color by the priming device, the textile treated in this way being conveyed to the press device by the conveying device. The textile is then conveyed back to the first processing location, in which case the textile is then printed by the printing device. The primer color can be applied using the same print heads that are also provided for the printing inks.

With regard to the method, the invention is characterized in that the primed motif area of the textile is pressed before the print motif is printed using at least one press station, which is arranged between the at least one primer device and the at least one printing device.

The method can be carried out in particular by the printing machine according to the invention described above. The advantages described above with regard to applying the print motif in high quality can be achieved in this way.

In principle, the base color could be selected depending on a base color of the textile to be printed. The purpose of the primer is to ensure that an intense base color of the textile does not affect the colors of the print motif to be printed. According to the invention, the primer color is white. In this way, a basic color of the textile, even a black color, can be reliably covered.

According to the process according to the invention, the primer paint is applied with a layer thickness which can be between 10 μm and 500 μm. In particular, filaments protruding from the fibers are covered by a primer color and bound into the applied primer layer at least during the subsequent pressing. The base color can only extend on a top side of the fibers and threads of the motif area of the textile. At a With the appropriate amount applied, the primer can also completely cover the pores or mesh openings of the textile, so that a largely closed surface is then formed. Overall, the motif area can therefore form a flat surface after pressing, which is free of mesh openings or still has exposed mesh openings.

In any case, an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention consists in the fact that the applied primer color forms a continuous base area when pressed onto the motif area of the textile, which is preferably flat. The base has a flat surface that is printed on.

Furthermore, according to one embodiment of the method according to the invention, it is advantageous that, before the application of the primer, the motif area is pretreated with a treatment medium to an extent that is less than the extent of a pretreatment for the direct application of a printing ink. The textile is preferably pretreated with a pretreatment fluid, however, only about one third to one half of the pretreatment fluid is required as in a normal textile printing process. One reason for this can be seen in the fact that the primer ink also helps to seal the individual fibers and thus prevents the printing inks from running through the fiber structure. In principle, with a corresponding application of the primer, it is also possible that a pretreatment with a pretreatment fluid is dispensed with altogether.

It is further preferred that several printing colors are printed, one of which is white. In the method according to the invention, a white primer can thus be applied with the primer device. After pressing, a white printing ink can be applied, which provides what is known as highlighting in the motif area.

The pressing of the motif area of the textile after priming and before the actual printing can basically be done in any way, for example by means of press rollers. According to a development of the invention, it is particularly preferred that the pressing takes place with a pressing plate which is heated to a defined temperature range. The press plate has a flat contact surface which is preferably provided with an appropriate coating to prevent paint from sticking. A corresponding abutment or base plate can be provided underneath the textile, which is not heated or is also heated. The press plate applied to the print motif from above is preferably electrically heated to a temperature range between 60°C and 150°C. In this way, not only is a good smoothing of the applied primer layer achieved, but also rapid drying and hardening of the primer paint.

The invention is explained in more detail below using a preferred exemplary embodiment, which is shown schematically in the attached drawing. The drawing shows a schematic plan view of a printing machine according to the invention.

The single figure shows a printing machine 10 according to the invention with a machine bed 12 that is rectangular in plan view. On the machine bed 12, two belt-shaped conveyor devices 20a, 20b are arranged parallel to one another in a longitudinal direction. For transporting a textile, for example a T-shirt, the conveying devices 20 can be moved from a front input area in a movement or processing direction, each of which is identified by an arrow, to an end or removal area. Along the processing path, the textiles to be processed first arrive at a priming device 30 on the conveying device 20. The priming device 30 has a portal-like guide beam 34 which is arranged above the conveying devices 20 on the machine bed 12. A first applicator head 32 for the first conveyor device 20a and a second applicator head 32 for the second conveyor device 20b are arranged on an underside of the guide bar 34 for applying a primer color to a motif area of the textile.

The application heads 32 are designed with one or more application nozzles which are directed downwards towards the textile. The application heads 32 are mounted so that they can be moved along the guide beam 34 transversely to the conveying direction or the processing path of the textile. The application heads 32 can thus cover the entire width of the conveying device 20 and apply the primer paint in this area. Also, the application head 32 of the first conveyor 20a to the second Conveyor 20b are moved to possibly replace the application head 32 provided there or to support.

After the application of a primer color, the textile with the primed motif area is conveyed further to a press device 50 in the conveying direction. A height-adjustable press plate 52 is arranged on the press device 50 for each conveyor device 20, which can be pressed, preferably with a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder, from an upper retracted position to a lower processing position, in which the press plate 52 is pressed onto an upper side of the textile on the conveyor device 20 becomes. The press plates 52 can likewise be mounted on a portal-like guide beam 54 above the conveyor device 20 on the machine bed 12 . The pressing plates 52 are preferably electrically heated, so that the motif area provided with the primer color can be pressed on the textile and dried at the same time.

According to the invention, a particularly flat motif area can also be produced on a coarsely woven textile in the press station 50 . The textile is then conveyed to one or more printing devices 40 by means of the conveying device 20 . In the exemplary embodiment shown, the printing machine 10 has only a single printing device with a portal-like guide beam 44 which is mounted on the machine bed 12 above the conveyor device 20 .

Similar to the design of the priming device 30, two print heads 42 with print nozzles are arranged on the underside of the guide bar 44 of the print device 40, through which a print motif can be applied to the motif area of the textile in a basically known manner by digitally controlling the print nozzles. The print heads 42 can also be adjusted along the guide beam 44 transversely to the processing path of the textile, so that a print head 42 for the first conveyor device 20a can replace the print head 42 for the second conveyor device 20b. Conversely, the print head 42 of the second conveyor device 20b can also replace or support the print head 42 of the first conveyor device 20a.
