Description

  • The subject of the invention is a terrace skylight with many glass unit panels, which, in a building partition which is essentially horizontal, can be arranged in a linear arrangement to create a light band or a two-dimensional extended surface, for example a glass unit terrace above a garage or above a room with an indoor pool.
  • The terrace skylight is a glass unit surface of a ceiling, permeable to natural light in order to illuminate the space below - and despite its structural similarity to fixed skylights and the structure of the façade panel fixing and its association with the function of a recreational area - is a rare solution in building architecture. One publication known for many years that depicts a terrace skylight with a surface formed of many adjacent rectangular glass unit plate is patent document GB 163667 . This skylight includes a support frame mounted on the periphery of the opening in the ceiling building partition. The internal surface of the support frame is partitioned by beams in a grid arrangement. Rectangular fields separated by beams are covered by glass unit plates, supported along the edges on beams in a common plane of supporting surfaces. Water permeating through the slots between the glass unit plates is discharged outside through a gutter system formed of support beams. The terrace elements do not protrude above the outer surface of the panels, but the gutter and grid arrangement of the beams requires sealing in all cross nodes. Moreover, the skylight is characterized by a very low level of thermal insulation.
  • Sealed solutions for skylights are used today, with sealed areas between the edges of adjacent glass unit panels. Among others, such solutions are described in patents EP1020578 , PL201511 and RU163667Y . These solutions have a support frame with beams in a grid arrangement. The surfaces separated between the beams are filled with glass unit panels with at least one inter-glass chamber. The beams have a rectangular cross-section, wherein edge areas of adjacent panels are pressed to their upper wall using a screw connector through a termination bar, covered by the upper and lower seal. The termination bar is located on the outer glass. In prototypes EP1020578 and PL201511 , the termination bar with the screw connector head is protected from above by a snap-fitted cover bar. In the EP1020578 version, an insulating element is additionally placed on the bolt of the screw connector in the inter-panel chamber, with laterally protruding elastic slats along the inter-panel chamber, which adhere to the spacers and front surfaces of the glass of adjacent panels after assembly - with the task of eliminating the thermal air bridge along the grid system of the inter-panel chambers. The cited inventions with easy access from the outside to the screw connector do not prevent criminals from breaking into the building through the skylight. Patent application US5291705 describes structural support members, which are surrounded with a cover that insulates the outer envelope of the support member. The cover may be made of an elastomeric material sufficiently flexible to permit the cover to be physically installed about the structural member. The structural member and cover may also be provided with interlocking means that will retain the cover on the support member once it is installed.
  • Glass unit panels are offered with inter-glass chambers limited by spacers located in the alignment position or centered at the edges of the inner glass plate.
  • The present invention solves the technical problem of developing a terrace skylight with a technologically simple structure with an outer surface without any protrusions, without unevenness hindering the movement of people, especially the disabled, and at the same time preventing the building from being easily broken into via a skylight. This problem is solved by a terrace skylight according to the appended claims.
  • This terrace skylight, according to its invention and similarly to existing skylight solutions, includes a support frame whose internal surface is divided in a grid arrangement by box-shaped beams. Rectangular fields separated between the beams are covered with glass unit panels with at least one inter-glass chamber, tightly limited by spacers centered at the edges of the inner glass plate. The panels are pressed against the supporting surfaces of the beams and the supporting frame by means of screw connectors through the seals, which are located in a common plane.
  • The disclosure of the invention is based on the fact that the support surfaces are comprised of the flat surfaces of the upper wall of each beam and that along the median plane of symmetry of the beams - in their upper and lower wall - there are holes from which screw connectors are inserted through the holes in the top wall. The fasteners press against the supporting surfaces, edge areas of the internal glass plate covered by bottom and top seals, and from above by rigid termination bar. The bolts of the screw connectors between the support surface and the termination bar are covered by flexible sleeves, specially made of elastomer. The inter-panel chambers between the edges of adjacent panels, limited by a termination bar, spacers and edge areas of the outer glass plate are filled with heat-insulating material, preferably lightweight concrete, while the gaps between the edges of the outer glass plate are closed with a one-component polyurethane sealant. The holes in the bottom walls of the beams are closed by detachably push-in plugs.
  • An embodiment in which the thermal insulation material consists of three linear fittings wedge-fastened is preferred along with filled inter-panel chambers. The central fitting has a lower end in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid with a larger upper base with a gap dimension between the outer glass plate and two side fittings with the same cross-section adhere on both sides to the wedge-narrowing walls of the central fitting and the remaining dimensions fill the other areas of the internal space.
  • It is also preferred if the panels located on the perimeter of the skylight are pressed - through seals covering the edge areas of the inner unit - to the support surfaces of the support frame by brackets attached to the support frame with screws so that they can slide.
  • The skylight, according to the invention, is described by the outline of the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, where Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross-section through the edge portion of the skylight surface and in Fig. (2) the enlarged detail of the inter-panel chamber is shown, fastening the adjacent panels.
  • The described example of a skylight terrace is built into the highest horizontal partition in a high multi-apartment building. The reinforced concrete glass ceiling serves as a recreational terrace for residents and at the same time separates the swimming pool located below. The surface of the skylight is made of many panels (1) of the glass unit, tightly fixed on the support frame (2), which is peripherally attached to the building partition. The inner surface of the support frame (2) is divided in a lattice arrangement by beams (3) with a rectangular cross section, which are welded or rigidly bolted together with the support frame (2). The dimensions of the beams (3) are adapted to the loads associated with the dimensions of the skylight surface and the operational load. Three rectangular fields separated between the beams are covered by glass panels (1), having two inter-glass chambers, tightly separated and connected by spacers (4) between two bonded inner glass plates (5), middle glass plate (6) and three bonded outer glass plates (7). The spacers (4) are centered off the edges internal glass plate (5).
  • On the support frame (2) and beams (3) there are support surfaces P located in a common O-O plane, which in beams (3) consist of the flat upper surfaces of the upper walls. Along the median symmetry plane of the beams (3), there are holes in their upper and lower walls, from which screw connectors are routed through the holes in the upper wall (8). Screw connectors (8) - through the bottom (9) and upper (10) seals covering the edge areas of the inner glass plate (5) and through the rigid termination bar (11) - tightly press the panels (1) to the support surfaces P. The bolts of the screw connectors (8) between the support surfaces P and the termination bar (11) are covered by flexible sleeves (12), specially made of elastomer- protecting against damage to the glass during assembly. The inter-panel chambers (X), located between the edges of adjacent panels (1) and bounded by termination bars (11), spacers (4) and edge areas of the outer glass plate (7) are filled with thermal insulation material (13), preferably lightweight concrete. The slots between the edges of the outer glass plate (7) are closed by a seal (14) of a one-component polyurethane mass, and the mounting holes (15) in the bottom walls of the beams (3) are closed by detachably pressed plugs (16). Installation operations are significantly simplified when the thermal insulation material (13) consists of three linear fittings: the middle (17) and two side (18), wedge-fastened and filling inter-panel chambers (X). The middle fitting (17) has a cross-section in the cross section in the shape of an isosceles wedge with the upper larger base having the dimension of gap s, while the side fittings 18 have the same cross section, on both sides adhere to the wedge-shaped inclined walls of the central fitting (17) and the remaining dimensions fill the areas of the inner space (X). The fittings (17) and (18), in addition to the thermal insulation of the inter-panel space (X), relieve the screw connectors (8) in transferring pressure from the outer glass plate (7).
  • In the described example of skylight solution, the panels (1) located on the perimeter are pressed - by seals (9) and (10) covering the edge areas of the inner glass plate (5) - to the support surfaces (P) of the support frame (2) by means of brackets (19) fastened with screws (20) to the vertical wall of the support frame (2). Supporting frame (2) has a profile that opens outwards downwards, which allows the pool surface to be exposed to natural light. From the inside, the slots of the support frame (2) and beams (3) are covered with alubutyl tape, and the surface of the beams (3) is masked with protective elements made of aluminum sheets with powder coating.
