Definitions
- the objective of the invention is to remedy this drawback.
- This objective can be achieved by designing the reinforcing means in the form of means intended to at least partially fill the section of the annular channel situated between the second bottom wall and the lower part of the through hole (s) of the second tubular wall.
- a first alternative embodiment not claimed consists in at least partially filling the space of the annular channel located below the through holes with material constituting the stem.
- this solution requires more material and therefore makes the stems more expensive, it has the drawback that with certain materials, during cooling, the material can shrink too much so that the seal with the ring seal used to close the through holes of the central channel can no longer be guaranteed.
- the reinforcement means consist of a tubular insert dimensioned to be able to be introduced into the annular channel and to fill, at least over part of its height, the space located between the second bottom wall and the lower part of the through hole (s) of the second tubular wall.
- This insert is sized to support the first tubular wall during filling.
- This insert therefore occupies at least part of the space located below the through holes of the annular channel. This space can no longer be occupied by the product.
- the insert may have a tubular shape forming a third tubular wall whose inner contour of the cross section corresponds substantially to the outer contour of the cross section of the first tubular wall and whose outer contour of the cross section corresponds substantially to the contour interior of the cross section of the second tubular wall when the insert is located in the annular channel in the position of use.
- the contours are circular.
- the inside diameter of the third cylindrical wall corresponds substantially to the outside diameter of the first cylindrical wall and its outside diameter to the inside diameter of the second cylindrical wall.
- the height of the insert is less than or equal to the distance separating the second bottom wall and the lower end of the through hole (s) of the second tubular wall. This insert therefore occupies only the lower part of the annular channel, below the through holes.
- the height of the insert is greater than the distance separating the second bottom wall and the lower end of the through hole (s) of the second tubular wall, preferably the distance separating the second bottom wall and the upper end of the one or more through holes.
- the insert is provided with at least one slot extending from a slot bottom to an open upper end situated at the level of the upper end of the third tubular wall. The distance between the slot bottom and the lower end of the third tubular wall is chosen such that when the insert is located in the annular channel in the position of use, at least one through hole opens entirely into the hole (s). slits.
- the slot or slots may pass through the entire thickness of the third tubular wall.
- the second tubular wall may be traversed by one or more sets of through holes, each set of through holes consisting of at least one pair of through holes, preferably of the same diameter, placed side by side in the same plane perpendicular to the main axis.
- the width of each slot at the level of the through holes is equal to or greater than the distance separating the outer edges of the two through holes furthest from the same set of through holes.
- the insert extends above the through holes of the annular channel, it is preferable to provide indexing means to align the or at least one of the slots of the insert with a set of through holes of the second wall. tubular.
- One or more through holes are generally provided to bring the interior of the central channel into contact with the cylindrical exterior face of the main body without passing through the annular channel, the through holes of the second tubular wall opening onto the cylindrical exterior face of the main body. preferably between the through holes of the first tubular wall and the upper end of the second tubular wall.
- the lower end of the main body In order to guide the stem in the valve and fix the spring keeping it in the closed position, it is preferable to provide the lower end of the main body with a tenon to cooperate with a spring in the valve. It is also possible to provide the cylindrical outer face of the main body with an annular shoulder placed such that the through hole (s) of the second tubular wall are located between this shoulder and the upper end of the second tubular wall.
- the invention relates to a valve stem for a two-way valve used in pressure vessels.
- Such valve stems are commonly referred to as stems.
- the stems (1) for two-way valve used for the invention are of the concentric-way type. They have a generally cylindrical outer shape around a main axis (A).
- the stem is intended for use in a two-way valve (30) with parallel pockets such as the one shown by way of example on figure 1 or with concentric pockets (bag-in-bag) or even with concentric containers (for example with double piston).
- the stem and its components usually exhibit a certain rotational symmetry about a main axis (A) passing through the stem.
- A main axis
- the adjectives "axial” or “radial” refer to this main axis and define an element parallel to the axis or perpendicular to this axis respectively.
- the spatial references such as “upper” and “lower” refer to the stem and its components as represented on the figure.
- Fig. 1 or the Fig. 7 For example. These are not absolute positions, the valve in which is mounted the stem of the invention can be used upwards (as on the Fig. 1 ), downwards, or more generally in any position suitable for the product to be delivered.
- the stem of the invention has a main body (10) and an insert (20).
- the main body includes a first central tubular wall (11) surrounded in part by a second tubular wall (12). These two walls are preferably substantially cylindrical. In practice, they can deviate almost imperceptibly from the absolutely cylindrical shape to facilitate demolding.
- the first cylindrical wall (11) is open at its upper end (111) and closed at its lower end (112) by a bottom wall (13) which is preferably radial.
- This first cylindrical wall (11) and the bottom wall (13) define a space in the form of a central channel (113).
- Two through holes (114) are made in the main body (10), near the lower end (112) of the central channel (113). These through holes (114) each connect the interior of the central channel (113) and the cylindrical exterior face of the main body (10).
- the central channel (113) and the through holes (114) constitute the first path of the stem (1).
- the second cylindrical wall (12) concentrically surrounds the first cylindrical wall (11). It (12) is open at its upper end (121) and closed at its lower end (122) by a second bottom wall (14) preferably radial.
- the second cylindrical wall (12) and the second bottom wall (14) define a space in the form of an annular channel (123).
- the second bottom wall (14) is located between the first through holes (114) and the upper end (121) of the second cylindrical wall (12) so that the first through holes (114) do not pass through the annular channel (123).
- Two pairs of two through holes (124) are made in the second cylindrical wall (12), at a distance from the upper end (121) and from the second wall (14). These second through holes (124) each connect the interior of the annular channel (123) and the cylindrical outer face of the main body (1).
- the annular channel (123) and the second through holes (124) form the second path of the stem (1).
- the main body has on its outer face an annular shoulder (15) serving to retain the stem in the valve body when it is mounted in a valve.
- the upper face of this shoulder is radial and comes to bear against a first annular seal (31) of the valve serving to close the second through holes (124) when the valve is in the closed position.
- the lower face of the shoulder can be inclined.
- the outer face of the first cylindrical wall (11) widens from the lower end (122) of the second cylindrical wall (12) to come into alignment with the outer face thereof so that the The outer shell of the main body (10) remains uniform from the annular shoulder (15) to below the first through holes (114).
- the second bottom wall (14) can be considered to be part of the outer face of the first cylindrical wall (11) at the level where it widens to align with the second cylindrical wall (12).
- the inner face of the second cylindrical wall (12) is cylindrical in its upper part.
- two vertical flats (125) extend from the bottom of the annular channel (123) to above the second through-holes (124) as can be seen in the figure. Fig. 11 . These flats need not extend to above the second through-holes (124); they could stop lower. Their width is equal to or slightly greater than the distance separating the two opposite ends of two through holes (124) of the same pair of second through holes.
- the vertical radial plane of symmetry of each plate (125) is identical to the vertical radial plane of symmetry passing between two through holes (124) of the same pair.
- the dishes (125) must not be too large to always leave sufficient space between their vertical face and the outer face of the first cylindrical wall (11).
- the lower end of the main body (10) is provided with a tenon (16) serving as a support for a spring (32) of the valve.
- the objective of the invention is to eliminate the ribs (N) usually present in the bottom of the annular canal (cf. Fig. 12 ) to avoid dead volumes in which product can stagnate. But simply removing these ribs weakens the main body and in particular the first cylindrical wall (11) which during filling risks breaking.
- a first alternative embodiment not claimed is to eliminate at least part of the section of the annular channel (123) located below the second through holes (124) by replacing it with material used for the manufacture of the main body, as is shown on the Fig. 13 .
- the stem consists only of the main body. This consists in its upper part of two concentric cylindrical walls (11, 12) extending to below the second through holes (124), then these two walls meet in a single cylindrical wall of a thickness noticeably equal to the combined thickness of the first cylindrical wall (11), the annular channel (123) and the second cylindrical wall (12). It can also be considered that the upper face of the second radial bottom wall (14) is located near, but below, the second through holes (124) whereas it is usually just above the first through holes ( 114).
- This section of the annular channel can be filled up to the immediate vicinity of the second through-holes, or even flush with them, or simply up to an intermediate height corresponding for example to the height of the traditional radial ribs (N).
- This solution admittedly more expensive in terms of material than the traditional radial ribs, makes it possible to support the first cylindrical wall (11) better than the ribs do, and this while maintaining the same external shape of the main body. It is necessary to choose materials which, despite the increased thickness in the lower part of the main body, do not shrink significantly during cooling following molding in order to avoid potential risks of leakage at the level of the lower seal of the valve (gasket). which seals at the level of the first through holes (114) of the first channel).
- Another variant embodiment consists not in eliminating the lower part of the annular channel (123) by filling it, but in placing an insert (20) therein (cf. Fig. 7 ).
- This tubular insert (20) consists of a third cylindrical wall (21) open at both ends.
- the inside diameter of the third cylindrical wall (21) corresponds substantially to the outside diameter of the first cylindrical wall (11) and its outside diameter to that of the inside diameter of the second cylindrical wall (12). It is preferable that the part of the insert below the second through-holes (124) is slightly oversized in relation to the available space so that it is necessary to force it into the annular channel (123) . In other words, its inside diameter will be slightly less than the outside diameter of the first cylindrical wall (11) and / or its outside diameter slightly greater than the inside diameter of the second cylindrical wall (12). This ensures that the insert will not move when using the valve. This also prevents the product from entering the gap between the insert and the walls of the annular channel (123) in the part located below the second through holes.
- the insert contributes to reinforcing the stability of the stem and in particular of its first cylindrical wall (11).
- This insert has the advantage over filling the space with material as mentioned with reference to the Fig. 13 not to pose the problem of excessive shrinkage of the material during cooling of the main body after molding.
- the second cylindrical wall (12) extends on either side of the second through-holes (124) with the same thickness, except near the shoulder (15).
- the height (H) of the insert is less than or equal to the height of the annular channel (123). It is inserted into the annular canal until it touches the second bottom wall (14) as can be seen on the Fig. 7 .
- the height (H) of the insert is less than or equal to the distance between the bottom of the second through-holes (124) and the second bottom wall (14). In practice, this height will be chosen so that the upper end of the insert comes as close as possible to the through holes (124) without however ever encroaching on them. However, it would be possible to choose a lower height, as are generally the reinforcing ribs (N) of traditional stems (cf. Fig. 12 ).
- the height (H) of the insert is greater than the distance separating the second bottom wall (14) and the top of the through holes (124).
- the slits preferably pass through the entire thickness of the cylindrical wall (21).
- the width (I) of the slots is greater than or equal to the distance separating the outer ends of two through holes (124) of the same pair (cf. Fig. 8 ). In practice, it does not have to be greater than this distance.
- the bottom (221) is flat with arcuate angles of the same radius as the second through holes (124) as can be seen in the figure. Fig. 8 .
- the length (L) of the slot, from the lower end of the bottom (221) to its upper end (222), is chosen such that, depending on the geometry of the bottom, the through holes (124) open entirely in the slots, without the third cylindrical wall (21) encroaching on the through holes (124).
- These slots (22) constitute flow channels for the product, thus limiting the available space and the volume of stagnant product after filling and after each use.
- Each slot (22) continues, on the outer face of the insert, by a flat (23) of the same width.
- the width of the plates (23) of the insert is substantially identical to the width of the plates (125) of the inner face of the second cylindrical wall (12). It is therefore understood that these complementary plates (125/23) serve for the alignment of slots (22) on the pairs of through holes (124).
- the inserts have a height (H) less than the distance between the second wall (14) and the through holes (124), the angular orientation of the insert with respect to the main body is irrelevant and it is possible to dispense with the flats (125) of the second channel (123) and the flats of the insert.
- the main body is preferably made of a rigid material, for example polyoxymethylene (POM), poly (butylene terephthalate) (PBT) or polyamide (PA).
- POM polyoxymethylene
- PBT poly (butylene terephthalate)
- PA polyamide
- a softer material such as polyethylene or polypropylene will preferably be chosen.
- the material retained for the insert is softer than that used for the main body so that the first deforms without the second being damaged during the forceful introduction of the insert into the main body.
- the insert of the invention has several advantages. First of all, it provides a reinforcing function making it possible to stabilize the first cylindrical wall (11) during the filling of the product in the container provided with a valve equipped with the stem of the invention. In addition, it avoids or at least reduces the dead spaces between the through holes (124) and the second bottom wall (14), dead spaces in which the product can stagnate. Finally, when the insert protrudes above the through holes (124), it limits the space available for the product.
