  10. Method for operating a household dishwasher (1) with a control device (100) for carrying out a washing program selected from a number of washing programs for washing items to be washed arranged in a washing compartment (4), comprising:
    receiving (S1) a start signal (S) sent from an external control unit (160) for starting the washing program remotely,
    acquisition (S2) of an optical sensor signal of the washing compartment (4) by means of an optical sensor (110),
    identification of a living creature (140) in the washing compartment (4) as a function of the acquired optical sensor signal,
    identification (S3) of a safe operating state of the household dishwasher (1) by an evaluation unit (120) as a function of an identified living creature (140), and
    blocking or releasing a start of the washing program initiated by the received start signal (S).
  11. Computer program product, which initiates the execution of the method according to claim 10 on a program-controlled device.
