Abstract

The pull-out side rail for a bed (10), in particular for a hospital or nursing bed, is provided with two longitudinally adjustable side posts (28), each of which has a first guide element (30) for attachment to a longitudinal side element (22) or a lying surface (16 ) of the bed (10), a second guide element (32) slidably guided on the first guide element (30) and a third guide element (34) slidably guided on the second guide element (32). Description

The invention relates to a side rail for a bed, which is in particular a hospital bed or a nursing bed.

Side rails are an essential design element in hospital and nursing beds, which should ensure that a patient does not accidentally fall out of bed. Side rails must be extendable or positionable up to a certain height above the lying surface. On the other hand, they should also be able to be retracted so far that a patient can get out of bed or get into the bed normally without being hindered by the side rails.

As far as the extendibility of the side rails is concerned, telescopic constructions have proven themselves here. However, these side rail constructions are not always visually appealing.

Out DE-U-20 2016 107 514 , EP-A-2 052 707 and DE-C-10 2004 037 503 side rails for hospital beds or nursing beds are known which have double telescopic side posts, between which a total of three cover elements extend. The bottom and the middle cover element are at a fixed distance from each other when the height of the side posts is adjusted.

Out EP-A-2 206 486 , DE-U-20 2014 009 612 , DE-U-20 2010 011 623 and DE-U-20 2010 003 462 side rails for beds are known which have only two cover elements between telescopic side posts.

Another type of side rail is in DE-U-20 2015 105 367 and DE-U-20 2016 000 069 described. With this type of side rails Side rail struts moved up and down along side posts that are not telescopic.

In FR-A-2 986 951 describes a side rail for a hospital or care bed in which there are no cover elements between horizontal struts.

• wobei im zusammengefahrenen Zustand beider Seitenpfosten die drei Abdeckelemente nebeneinander und unterhalb der Handlaufstrebe mit dieser fluchtend positioniert sind.

The side rail according to the invention can be pulled out twice, which is realized in particular by double telescopic side posts. The length-adjustable side posts according to the invention have three guide elements guided against one another, the lowermost first guide element being attachable at its lower attachment end to the bed surface of the bed or to longitudinal side elements (longitudinal side bars or cheeks). The middle second guide element is guided on and / or in the first guide element for each side post. The uppermost third guide element is again guided on this middle guide element. The uppermost third guide elements of both side posts are connected to each other by a handrail strut. The two middle guide elements are also connected by a locking element, which in this case is designed as a cover element. Such locking elements must be provided in accordance with the standards so that the quite large free space between the handrail strut and the lying surface is blocked when the side rail is in the maximum extended state.

The lowermost first guide elements are connected to one another by a first cover element. This cover element and the other cover elements are strip-shaped, panel-like panels which, with the exception of the middle cover element, primarily have design functions. The cover element between the lowermost first guide elements serves to visually surround the lying surface and the sides of the mattress, which looks visually appealing. In the lowest position of the second guide elements relative to the first guide elements, the cover element arranged between these second guide elements is located in front of or behind the first cover element. This second cover element "disappears" optically if, for example, only the third two Guide elements are pulled out of the second guide elements and the second guide elements are in their lowest position. When the entire side rail is retracted, the third cover element, which is arranged under the handrail strut between the third guide elements, is also located in front of or behind the other cover elements. The cover elements thus act as veneers for a visually appealing design of the side rail in the lowest retracted position or in a pull-out position in which only part of the side rail is extended.

In an expedient development of the invention, it can further be provided that a cross strut extends between the second guide elements, below which the second cover element is arranged, the cross strut connecting the two second guide elements and the second cover element being connected to the cross strut. Each cross strut can be formed in one piece with the cover element in question. Alternatively, the two elements are two separately manufactured components that are then mechanically connected to each other (e.g. by screwing, gluing, welding or by other known connection techniques).

Finally, it is also conceivable for the guide elements to be displaceable one inside the other or to the side.

To the side of the lying surface 16 there is a side rail 24 on the headboard side and a side rail 26 on the footboard side. These side rail parts can be attached to the longitudinal side rails 22 (see Fig. 6 ) or be arranged on the pivotable backrest and lower leg parts of the lying surface 16. In the latter case, the side rails in question pivot when the associated parts of the lying surface 16 are pivoted.

In Fig. 5 an exploded view of the side rail 24 is shown, it being noted that the side rails 26 are constructed identically. The side rail 24 has two length-adjustable side posts 28, each of which comprises three guide elements 30, 32, 34 which are brought together. The bottom, first guide element 30 is fastened at its bed attachment end 31 to the lying surface 16 or a longitudinal side rail 22. The middle second guide element 32 is guided in the first guide element 30 and in turn receives the upper third guide element 34. In this way, the side posts 28 are guided into one another and can therefore be changed in length by telescoping.

However, the three guide elements 30, 32, 34 can also be guided laterally to one another and in this way form a length-adjustable side post.

The upper ends 36 of the third guide elements 34 are connected to one another by a handrail strut 38. Below the handrail strut 38 is a panel-like (third) cover element 40. The two middle guide elements 32 are connected to one another by a strut 42, below which there is also a panel-like (second) cover element 44.

The two first guide elements 30 are connected to one another by a (first) cover element 46. The relative arrangement of these cover elements 40, 44, 46 is in Fig. 6 shown. The cover elements 40, 44, 46 are laterally offset from one another, so that they lie one behind the other when the side rail 24 is in the closed state.

The bottom cover element 46 is located to the side of the mattress, that is to say at the level of the lying surface 16, and remains in this position regardless of whether the side rail is in its lowest, middle or in its uppermost position.
