GENERAL TECHNICAL FIELD AND PRIOR ART

The present invention relates to the field of art and more precisely to the field of art media.

It is known for an artist, such as a painter, to use a painting medium, wrongly designated "canvas". A paint rack generally includes a rigid rectangular frame and a woven fabric stretched over the frame to form a paint rack with a flat surface. Hereinafter, the term “work” denotes a paint medium which is painted.

A painter may be required to exhibit works in an art gallery. Such an exhibition allows the painter to present his work as well as to offer his works for sale. A visitor to an exhibition can thus acquire a canvas and easily transport it to later integrate it into the interior decoration of his home.

With regard to urban art and in particular the field of graffiti, a graffiti artist creates a work not on a canvas, but generally on a portion of wall whose appearance and texture participate in the aesthetic effect sought by the artist. Similar to “classic” painters, graffiti artists can also exhibit their works in an art gallery or museum. However, such an exhibition is more complex to organize. Indeed, the portion of the wall used as a support for the work can hardly be presented at an exhibition location.

First of all, it is generally complex to cut out a portion of a wall, in particular when the latter belongs to the public space, for both practical and administrative reasons. In addition, a portion of the wall is heavy and difficult to handle, which has another drawback. Indeed, moving such a work requires the use of specialized packaging which is all the more voluminous if it is a portion of a wall. In addition, the handling of such a packaging presents many constraints, such as the use of suitable tools and transport by specialized vehicle. Such constraints are brakes which considerably limit the exhibition of graffiti artists. Finally, when such a work must be installed inside a gallery or a museum, it is installed on the ground because of its weight, which limits the number of works that can be exhibited in a gallery which is usually adapted to receive painted canvases hung on the walls of the gallery or museum.

One of the objectives of the present invention is to provide a new art medium, in particular for graffiti, making it possible to retain the aesthetic effect sought by an artist while being light and transportable in order to allow it to be displayed in a simple and practical manner. .

It is known in the prior art from the document US6237294 and US 2004/003561 a decorative panel simulating the appearance of a natural material which is intended to be glued to a vertical wall in order to produce a facing. The document US6237294 teaches the use of a wooden cleat which does not form a frame for a canvas as such, the cleat having a temporary support function. Furthermore, the element of hardened material of said document does not project from the frame.

We also know the document FR2580547 which teaches making a weather-resistant paint support by using a mold and a counter-mold. The support is attached to a frame. Said document does not teach an element of hardened material having the relief of a portion of the wall or of a frame having smaller dimensions than the element of hardened material.

GENERAL PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION

To this end, the invention relates to a method of manufacturing, according to claim 1, an art medium, in particular for producing graffiti, comprising:

• a step of injecting a hardenable material into a mold comprising an imprint representing a relief of a portion of the wall,
• a step of fixing a canvas to said hardenable material,
• a mold release step so as to form an art support comprising a canvas covered with an element of hardened material having the relief of a portion of the wall.

Such a manufacturing process makes it possible to form an art support which can be assimilated to a portion of a wall from an aesthetic point of view (shape, relief, granularity, sound, etc.) but while having a reduced weight. Unlike a portion of a wall, such an art support can be hung on a vertical wall of an exhibition gallery in a simple and practical manner in the manner of a conventional painting canvas.

Said manufacturing method comprises a step of fixing a frame to said canvas in order to stiffen the art support and to facilitate its hanging on the wall in the manner of a conventional painting canvas. The frame has dimensions smaller than the dimensions of the hardened material member, the hardened material member projecting from the frame by a distance of 1 to 4 cm, so that the peripheral edge of the art support is in relief. Said peripheral edge, made of hardened material, thus makes it possible to hide the frame laterally and to reinforce the visual impression that the art support is a portion of an existing wall.

Advantageously, the imprint of the mold is obtained by applying a hardenable material to a portion of the wall in order to adapt to its relief, making it possible to create a matrix for the manufacture of several fabrics.

Advantageously, the manufacturing process comprises a step of coloring the element of hardened material so as to imitate the color of a wall, making it possible to provide the art support with an appearance similar to a wall.

Preferably, the curable material has, in the hardened state, a density of between 1 and 2.5, preferably 1.7. The weight of the art support is thus much less than that of a portion of a traditional wall. The art medium can thus be easily moved and displayed.

The invention also relates to an art medium, according to claim 5, comprising a canvas comprising a front face and a rear face and an element of hardened material comprising a front face having a relief of a wall portion and a rear face. attached to the front face of said canvas.

Such an art medium advantageously has an appearance comparable to a portion of a wall from an aesthetic point of view (shape, relief, granularity, sound, etc.) but while having a reduced weight.

The art support comprises a frame fixed to the rear face of said canvas, subsequently allowing the art support to be attached to a vertical wall of a gallery. In addition, the forces are advantageously supported by the frame, which protects the element made of hardened material. The frame has, moreover, dimensions smaller than the dimensions of the element of hardened material so that the element of hardened material extends projecting from the frame by a distance between 1 and 4 cm in order to that the peripheral edge of the art support is raised.

Advantageously, the canvas is stretched over said frame, making it easier to use and, in particular, to hook it up.

Preferably, the thickness of the element made of hardened material is between 1 mm and 50 mm so as to adapt to any wall relief. More preferably, the thickness of the element made of hardened material is between 2 mm and 7 mm so as to obtain a compromise between the relief characteristics and reduced weight. Preferably, the web is fixed to the element of hardened material by application of a hardenable material, in particular, by the same type as that forming the element of hardened material. Thus, the element of hardened material is intimately secured to the canvas, which improves the life of the art medium and improves the aesthetic appearance, the canvas being integrated into the element of hardened material.

More preferably, the frame is fixed to the canvas by applying a hardenable material, in particular, by the same type as that forming the element of hardened material. Thus, the chassis is aesthetically integrated and remains inconspicuous. Advantageously, the frame is fixed to said canvas without the use of attached fixing elements such as nails or staples.

Advantageously, the element made of hardened material is colored so as to imitate the color of a wall, which makes it possible to use an art support representative of all types of walls.

The art support obtained thus has a homogeneous structure in which the canvas and the frame are integrated in the hardenable material. The art support thus advantageously imitates the massive appearance of a wall. In addition, the forces are advantageously supported by the frame, which protects the element made of hardened material.

DESCRIPTION OF ONE OR MORE EMBODIMENTS AND IMPLEMENTATION

There will henceforth be presented an art support 1 for graffiti as well as a method of manufacturing such an art support 1. However, such an art support 1 is suitable for any type of art, in particular, painting, drawing, etc.

According to a preferred embodiment, with reference to figures 1 and 2 , the art support 1 comprises a canvas 3 comprising a front face 3A and a rear face 3B, an element of hardened material 2 comprising a front face 2A having a relief of a wall portion and a rear face 2B fixed to the wall. front face 3A of said canvas 3 and a frame 4 fixed to the rear face 3B of said canvas 3. Thus, like a conventional painting canvas, the art support 1 has a reduced weight while having the relief characteristics of a wall. Such an art medium 1 can be exhibited in a gallery or a museum in a practical manner in order to promote the work of artists, in particular that of graffiti artists.

The different elements of the art support 1 will henceforth be presented independently with reference to the figure 2 representing the art support 1 in an exploded view.

The frame 4 is a rigid structure, typically rectangular, made of wood, metal or synthetic materials. As shown in figure 4 , the frame 4 comprises a plurality of uprights 40 which are assembled in order to form a framework for fixing the canvas 3. The frame 4, forming the rigid structure of the art support 1, designates the rear of the art support 1 and is suitable for mounting on a vertical wall, for example in a gallery or a museum, like a conventional painting canvas. Such a frame 4 is known to those skilled in the art and can have various shapes.

The canvas 3 is made of glass fibers and stretched so as to be fixed on the frame 4. It goes without saying that the canvas 3 could be made from different fibers, in particular, linen or cotton. Preferably, a canvas 3 suitable for painting is used. With reference to the figure 2 , the fabric 3 comprises a front face 3A and a rear face 3B, by means of which the fabric 3 is fixed to the frame 4, for example, by gluing, stapling, impregnation or the like. Preferably, the fabric 3 has a thickness of between 0.3 mm and 2 mm.

Still with reference to the figure 2 , the element made of hardened material 2 comprises a front face 2A having a relief of a wall portion and a rear face 2B fixed to the front face 3A of said fabric 3, for example, by gluing, stapling, impregnation or the like. According to a preferred embodiment, the fabric 3 is brought into contact with the curable material after drying by fixing them together by applying a first layer 61 of curable material. Such an attachment makes it possible to integrate the canvas 3 into the curable material, which improves, on the one hand, the mechanical behavior and the service life, and, on the other hand, the aesthetic appearance of the art medium 1.

The relief of a wall portion can be produced in different ways, in particular by engraving, machining, molding or the like. The expression “wall portion relief” is understood to mean a relief having a rectangular paving shape. For example, the wall portion relief can imitate a wall portion of brick, block or different types of concrete wall types as well as represent the joints, the grain of the stone or even the streaks and defects. With reference to the figure 3 , there is shown an element made of hardened material 2 comprising a relief in concrete blocks.

The element made of hardened material 2 is preferably made of resin, preferably of acrylic resin, but it goes without saying that other hardenable materials could be suitable, in particular, plaster, earth, clay. A resin advantageously has a lower density than that of a stone or concrete wall, which makes it possible to lighten a work compared to the prior art. The cured material element 2 is rigid and cannot be bent by hand, which limits wear and enhances the wall feel.

Preferably, the element made of hardened material 2 has a thickness of between 1 mm and 50 mm in order to form any type of relief. Preferably, the element made of hardened material 2 has a thickness of between 2 mm and 7 mm so as to ensure a compromise between a quality of relief and a reduced weight.

Preferably, the art support 1 comprises a peripheral edge 10 in relief so as to simulate a wall portion cut from an existing wall. Preferably, the dimensions of the element made of hardened material 2 are greater than the dimensions of the frame 4 so that the peripheral edge of the art support 1 is also in relief. Preferably, the element of hardened material 2 protrudes from the frame 4 by a distance of between 1 and 4 cm in order to form a peripheral edge independent of the frame 4. The visual impression of a torn wall is reinforced. . Preferably, the raised peripheral edge is produced during molding. In addition, this distance makes it possible to guarantee optimal support by the frame 4 while allowing the formation of a peripheral relief without impacting the frame 4.

In this embodiment, the art support 1 comprises a frame 4, making it possible to stretch the canvas 3 in order to facilitate its use and the hanging of the work on the wall of a gallery. It goes without saying that the art support 1 could not include a frame 4, the canvas 3 then being directly attached to a wall or the like.

An example of the implementation of a method for manufacturing such an art medium 1 will now be described.

• a step E5 of fixing the frame 4 on the canvas 3, and
• a step E6 of finishing the art support 1.

Such an industrial manufacturing process makes it possible to manufacture art supports conveniently, at a high rate and at a reduced cost. The different stages will now be presented individually.

The method comprises a step E1 of supplying a mold 5 comprising an imprint 50 representative of the relief of a wall. Preferably, the imprint 50 of the mold 5 is obtained by making an imprint of a portion of an existing wall. Preferably, the impression 50 is made using a hardenable material such as a polymer, in particular a silicone material. A layer of silicone is applied, in a malleable state (liquid or pasty) to a portion of an existing wall so as to fit into each gap in the existing wall and follow all the details of its relief. After a drying time, the silicone layer solidifies while remaining flexible and can be removed from the existing wall.

Preferably, the silicone layer is associated with a counter-mold, designed in a strong and light material, for example plaster, in order to increase the resistance. mechanics of the mold 5. The silicone layer is preferably associated with the counter-mold by gluing, but it goes without saying that other fixing methods could be suitable. Such a mold 5 comprising said imprint 50 can subsequently be used for the manufacture of several art supports 1. The imprint 50 thus forms a negative of the relief of the existing wall. Preferably, the indentation 50 defines the raised peripheral edge of the hardened element.

It goes without saying that the mold 5 could be manufactured in a different way, for example, using a three-dimensional printer, by carving, engraving or machining a mold, etc.

Still with reference to the figure 5 , the method comprises a step E2 of injecting a curable material, here an acrylic resin, into said mold 5 comprising the imprint 50 of a wall. The resin in the liquid state is inserted into each interstice of the mold 5 in order to follow all the details of its imprint 50. Hereinafter, “element made of hardened material” 2 is designated as the element made of resin obtained after drying and solidification. liquid resin. During the injection of the resin, the mold 5 is positioned horizontally as illustrated in figure 5 . It goes without saying that any curable material could be used as a replacement for the resin. The resin is advantageous because it is simple to use and allows to form reliefs having many details, which is advantageous for forming the joints of the walls.

Advantageously, the height of the mold 5 is determined so as to adapt to the thickness of the element made of hardened material 2 which it is desired to obtain, in this example, between 2 and 7 mm.

In a third step E3, the fabric 3 is then deposited in the mold 5, in contact with the element of hardened material 2 and fixed to said element of hardened material 2. Preferably, a first layer 61 of hardenable material is applied to the rear face 2B of the hardened material element 2 when fixing the front face 3A of the fabric 3 to the hardened material element 2, thus allowing intimate adhesion of the fabric 3 with the hardened material element 2 by impregnation of the fabric 3. However, it goes without saying that the fabric 3 could also be glued.

In a fourth step E4, the frame 4 is positioned on the rear face 3B of the canvas 3 in order to be fixed to the latter. With reference to the figure 5 , a second layer 62 of hardenable material is applied to the rear face 3B of the canvas 3 prior to the installation of the frame 4. The frame 4 is positioned horizontally in the mold 5 against the rear face 3B of the canvas 3, which allows membership.

The canvas 3 is then fixed stretched over the frame 4 in a fifth step E5 so as to form an integral assembly. For this purpose, with reference to the figure 5 , the peripheral edge of the canvas 3 is folded over the rear of the frame 4 so as to stretch the canvas 3 on the front face of the frame 4. Preferably, the canvas 3 is pressed against the frame 4, which also allows mechanically reinforce the art support 1 and protect the hardened material element 2 against impacts. Preferably, with reference to the figure 5 , a third layer 63 of hardenable material is applied to the canvas 3 folded over the frame 4 in order to impregnate it and thus stiffen it, which makes it possible to fix the frame 4 and the canvas 3 intimately, to improve the mechanical resistance and to reinforce the aesthetic appearance After drying, the fabric 3 is thus directly fixed to the frame 4. Preferably, the fixing of the frame 4 is carried out before the second layer 62 of hardenable material dries in order to be able to fix. the canvas 3 stretched over the frame 4.

It goes without saying that the fixing could also be carried out using nails or staples fixed to the rear or to the peripheral edge of the frame 4.

Preferably, the same type of hardenable material is applied at each fixing step in order to mechanically merge the canvas 3 and the frame 4 to the element made of hardened material 2. Preferably, one and the same hardenable material is used, from preferably, resin.

Finally, after a drying time, the assembly composed of the element made of hardened material 2, the canvas 3 and the frame 4 is unmolded in a sixth finishing step E6, so as to form an art support 1 comprising a canvas 3 covered with an element of hardened material 2 which is rigid, having the relief of a portion of the wall, the whole fixed to a rigid frame 4. During this finishing step E6, the hardened material element 2 can be sculpted again in order to improve the rendering of the art support 1. By in particular, the peripheral edge 10 of the element made of hardened material 2 can be worked in order to improve the aesthetic appearance. Optionally, the front face 2A of the element made of hardened material 2 is colored so as to imitate the coloring of a wall. Thus, the art support 1 has all the advantageous characteristics of a wall while having a reduced weight. The front face 2A of the element made of hardened material 2 of the art support 1 can subsequently be used directly for the production of a graffiti.

Such an art support 1 representative of a wall surface is then light, transportable and practical to use. The art support 1, thus designated “canvas-wall”, also has the aesthetic characteristics of a wall such as its texture, its granularity, its sound or its appearance to the touch. In addition, since the art medium 1 comprises a frame 4, the graffiti can be exposed in a manner analogous to a painting canvas, which facilitates the organization of the exhibition. The frame 4 also makes it possible to reinforce the mechanical characteristics of the art support 1 by avoiding stressing the element made of hardened material 2.

Claims (7)

1. A method for manufacturing an art support (1), in particular for making graffiti, comprising:

   - a step of injecting (E2) a curable material into a mould (5) comprising a cavity (50) representing a relief of a wall portion,

   - a step of attaching (e3) a canvas (3) to said curable material,

   - a step (e5) of attaching a stretcher (4) to said canvas (3),

   - a mould release step (E6) so as to form an art support (1) comprising a canvas (3) covered with an element of cured material (2) having the relief of a wall portion, the stretcher (5) having smaller dimensions than the dimensions of the element of cured material (2) so that the element of cured material (2) extends protruding from the stretcher (4) by a distance between 1 and 4cm such that the peripheral edge of the art support (1) is in relief, thus hiding the stretcher laterally.
2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the canvas (3) is attached to said element of cured material (2) by applying a curable material.
3. The method according to one of claims 1 to 2, wherein the stretcher (4) is attached to said canvas (3) by applying a curable material.
4. The method according to one of claims 1 to 3, comprising a step of colouring the element of cured material (2) so as to mimic the colour of a wall.
5. An art support (1) comprising a canvas (3) comprising a front face (3A) and a rear face (3B), a stretcher (4) attached to the rear face (3B) of said canvas (3) and an element of cured material (2) comprising a front face (2A) having a relief of a wall portion and a rear face (2B) attached to the front face (3a) of said canvas (3), the stretcher (4) having smaller dimensions than the dimensions of the element of cured material (2) so that the element of cured material (2) extends protruding from the stretcher (4) by a distance between 1 and 4cm such that the peripheral edge of the art support (1) is in relief, thus hiding the stretcher laterally.
6. The support according to claim 5, wherein the canvas (3) is adapted to be stretched on said stretcher (4).
7. The support according to one of claims 5 to 6, wherein the element of cured material (2) has a thickness between 1 mm and 50mm.
