Definitions
- the present invention relates to a rifle with a linear breech.
- FR-A-3 043 767 discloses a rifle comprising a barrel, a breech which is movable in translation relative to the barrel and which comprises a breech head adapted to be engaged inside one end of the barrel and a locking mechanism for the breech head inside the barrel.
- the locking mechanism comprises tilting segments, which are arranged in a circle, attached to one another, and which are each movable between an unlocked position, where they do not prevent the disengagement of the breech head from the barrel , and a locked position, where they oppose the withdrawal of the breech head from the barrel.
- a sleeve is used, slidably mounted around the cylinder head, to switch the rocking segments from their unlocked position to their locked position, and vice versa.
- the movement of the sleeve is controlled by a lever, maneuverable by the user.
- This type of rifle is qualified as a rifle with a linear breech (or with a linear reset), insofar as the breech must be moved in translation to reload.
- a rifle also includes a striker, the function of which is to drive the primer of the cartridge under the effect of an elastic force exerted by a spring.
- the relaxation of the spring is controlled by a trigger, the tilting of which takes place when the user presses the trigger tail.
- the sequencing during a shot is as follows. First of all, the user moves the breech away from the barrel to be able to load ammunition (cartridge) inside the chamber. Then, the user rocks the lever towards him to arm the striker, that is to say compress the spring of the striker. During this stage, the body of the striker is driven by the lever towards the rear and comes to hang on a notch formed on the trigger. The trigger then retains the striker in position and the striker spring is compressed. Then, the user advances the breech towards the barrel and brings the breech head inside the barrel. The user can then lock the movement of the cylinder head by pivoting the lever. Once the bolt head is locked, the user can pull by acting on the trigger via the trigger tail.
- the striker is held in the armed position by the sole action of the trigger.
- the striker is released and is pushed forward by the force of the spring. There is then a risk that the striker pushes in the primer of the cartridge and the shot can go away even when the bolt head is not completely locked, which is of course unacceptable.
- the invention intends to remedy more particularly by proposing a new type of rifle, with which the trigger is inactive as long as the breech head is not completely locked inside the barrel.
- the invention relates to a rifle with a linear breech, comprising a barrel, the breech, which is movable in translation relative to the barrel and which comprises a breech head adapted to be engaged inside one end of the barrel , the breech head internally accommodating a striker resiliently loaded by a spring, a trigger retaining trigger, a locking mechanism, for selectively locking the breech head in a configuration engaged inside the barrel, this mechanism comprising a lever movable between an unlocked position and a locked position.
- the stroke of the lever between the unlocked position and the locked position comprises a first section, along which the lever opposes the release of the striker under the force of the spring and pushes the striker in a configuration where the trigger no longer cooperates with the striker, and a second section, along which the striker is returned in a configuration where it is able to cooperate with the trigger and where the lever, then in the locked position, no longer opposes the release of the striker .
- the striker is released from the trigger and is held in the armed position by the sole action of the lever. As long as the lever has not switched to the locked position, it therefore prevents the striker from being released. Thus, if the user presses the trigger tail before the bolt head is completely locked, this will have absolutely no effect because, during this phase, the striker is in any case disengaged from the trigger. This avoids the risk of accident.
- the figure 1 represents a rifle breech 2.
- the breech 2 is mounted in translation on a slide 4 fixed on the body of the rifle, near the stock.
- the breech 2 is thus movable in translation along an axis X2 substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the rifle (not shown).
- the rifle comprises a barrel (not shown), the breech being movable in translation relative to the barrel.
- the breech 2 comprises a breech head 6 adapted to be engaged inside one end of the barrel.
- the cylinder head 6 internally houses a striker 8, which is shown alone in the figure 2 and which is loaded elastically by a spring (not shown), which is commonly called striker spring.
- the striker 8 is movable in translation along an axis parallel to the axis X2 of displacement of the breech 2. Typically, during a shot, the striker 8 is thrown forward under the force of the striker spring to come to press the primer of a cartridge (not shown) housed in a barrel chamber.
- the striker 8 comprises lateral slots 82 for guiding in translation along the axis X2.
- the front direction designates a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rifle and oriented towards the direction of shooting, and the rear direction defines a completely opposite direction, facing the shooter.
- the rifle also includes a trigger 12 for holding the striker 8.
- the trigger 12 is designed to keep the striker 8 in the armed position, with the compressed striker spring, as long as the shooter has not pressed the trigger tail.
- the rifle comprises another spring 13, shown schematically in the figure 7 only, to maintain the trigger 12 in a position where it is able to snap with the striker 8.
- the trigger 12 includes a hook-shaped end 120, more commonly called trigger notch, which is designed to come lodge in a notch 84 of the striker 8, in order to retain the striker 8 behind.
- the rifle comprises a locking mechanism, for selectively locking the breech head 6 in a configuration engaged inside the barrel, this mechanism comprising a lever 14, which is shown alone at the figure 3 and which is movable between an unlocked position, shown for example in the figure 7 , and a locked position, shown for example in the figure 13 .
- the axis of rotation of the lever is perpendicular to the axis of movement of the striker 8 (and also to the axis X2 of movement of the cylinder head 2).
- the locking mechanism comprises tilting segments 16 arranged in a circle, in an abutment with one another. These segments 16 are housed in a cavity defined in the barrel, at the front of the cartridge receiving chamber.
- the segments 16 are each movable between an unlocked position, shown for example in the figure 9 , where they do not oppose the disengagement of the breech head 6 from the barrel, and a locked position, shown for example in the figure 13 , where they oppose the withdrawal of the breech head 6 from the barrel. All details relating to the structure and operation of the locking mechanism are described in the publication FR 3,043,767 .
- the locking mechanism comprises a member 18 for tilting the rocking segments 16 from their unlocked position to their locked position, and vice versa.
- this member 18 is a sleeve mounted to slide around the cylinder head 6.
- the movement of the sleeve 18 is controlled by the action of the lever 14.
- the lever when the lever is in the unlocked position, the sleeve 18 is advanced and maintains the segments 16 in their unlocked configuration.
- the sleeve 18 moves back (see the arrows F5 on the figure 13 ) and pushes the segments 16 in their locked configuration, as represented by the arrow F6 at the figure 13 .
- a firing sequence (step by step) is described below with reference to figures 4 to 13 especially.
- the shooter pivots the lever 14 backwards, that is to say in the direction of the arrow F2 at the figure 4 , to arm the striker 8, that is to say to compress the striker spring. More precisely, the shooter pivots the lever 14 from the locked position, where it extends substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the rifle, towards the unlocked position, where it extends in an inclined relationship to the longitudinal axis of the rifle. During this step, the body of the lever 14, which bears the reference 140, pushes the striker 8 backwards. The striker spring is then compressed.
- the body of the lever 140 is housed inside a protective casing for the cylinder head 2.
- the striker 8 is guided in its movement along the axis X2 by fixed pins 10, which are respectively engaged in the slots 82 of the striker 8.
- the striker 8 comes to hook, or snap, automatically on the trigger 12.
- the striker 8 slightly pushes the trigger down, against the elastic force exerted by the spring 13, to pass the protruding hook of the trigger 12 and the trigger automatically returns under the return force of its spring in a position where it comes to snap with the striker 8.
- the end 120 of the trigger 12 hooks to the striker 8, more precisely at the notch 84 of the striker 8.
- the striker 8 is then held back, in a so-called armed position. We are then in the configuration of the figure 7 .
- the shooter moves back the breech 2 away from the barrel, as represented by the arrow F1 at the figure 1 .
- the gunner can then optionally insert a cartridge inside the barrel chamber, that is to say, chamber a cartridge.
- the shooter moves the breech 2 forwards, in order to insert the breech head 6 inside the barrel.
- the shooter must then lock the breech head 6 inside the barrel, in particular to avoid the recoil of the breech during firing.
- the shooter switches the lever 14 from the unlocked position to the locked position, that is to say in the direction of the arrow F3 at the figure 11 .
- the stroke of the lever 14 between the unlocked position and the locked position comprises a first section, defined between the configuration of the figure 8 and the configuration of the figure 14 , along which the lever 14 opposes the release of the striker 8 under the force of the striker spring and pushes the striker 8 in a configuration where the trigger 12 no longer cooperates with the striker 8.
- the lever 14 comprises a mechanical member 142, visible in particular at the figure 3 , which abuts against a complementary mechanical member 80 of the striker 8 when the lever 14 is in the first section, so as, on the one hand, to oppose the relaxation of the striker 8 under the force of the striker spring and, d on the other hand, pushing the striker 8 in a configuration where the trigger 12 no longer cooperates with the striker 8.
- the striker 8 is pushed in a configuration where it is released from the trigger 12. This is visible when we look at the enlarged figure 12 , where we see the presence of a clearance J between the functional surfaces of the trigger 12 and those of the striker 8. This clearance J indicates that the trigger 12 no longer cooperates with the striker 8.
- the shooter can press the trigger, without this having any effect.
- the trigger 12 is completely inactive.
- the mechanical member 142 of the lever which is formed in the example by a projecting relief, abuts against the complementary mechanical member 80 of the striker 8, which makes it possible to retain the striker 8 towards the rear and to avoid that the blow goes off on its own.
- the member 80 mentioned above is formed by a projecting relief, formed on one side of the striker 8 (see figure 2 ).
- the mechanical member 142 of the lever and the complementary mechanical member 80 of the striker together form a cam mechanism, making it possible to transform the rotation F3 of the lever 14 into a translational movement F4 of the striker 8.
- the functional surfaces members 142 and 80 that is to say the contact surfaces, are complementary to each other. In particular, these functional surfaces are inclined so as to obtain a wedge effect, which transforms the rotational movement of the lever 14 into a translational movement.
- the stroke of the lever 14 between the unlocked position and the locked position also includes a second section, defined between the configuration of the figure 14 and the configuration of the figure 16 , and, along which the striker 8 is resiliently biased forward, by the force of the striker spring, in a configuration where it is able to cooperate with the trigger 12 and where the lever 14, while in the locked position, does not no longer opposes the release of the striker 8.
- the second section is consecutive to the first section on the path of the lever between the unlocked position and the locked position.
- the striker 8 is returned to a configuration where it cooperates with the trigger 12, that is to say in a configuration where the trigger 12 keeps the striker in the armed position by snap-fastening.
- the rifle is then in the configuration of the figure 16 .
- the breech head 6 is locked inside the barrel, and the striker 8 is held by the trigger 12.
- the shooter By pressing the trigger tail (not shown), the shooter causes the trigger 12 to tilt in the direction of arrow F7, which releases the striker 8, which is then projected forward under the force of the striker spring.
- the striker 8 then pushes the primer of the cartridge mounted inside the barrel, and the shot starts.
- the mechanical members 142 and 80 can be provided in other forms (notches, bumps, notch, grooves, etc.).

Description
The present invention relates to a rifle with a linear breech.
Conventionally, a rifle also includes a striker, the function of which is to drive the primer of the cartridge under the effect of an elastic force exerted by a spring. The relaxation of the spring is controlled by a trigger, the tilting of which takes place when the user presses the trigger tail.
With a rifle with a linear breech, the sequencing during a shot is as follows.
During the entire bolt head locking phase, the striker is held in the armed position by the sole action of the trigger. Thus, if the user presses the trigger tail before the bolt head is completely locked, the striker is released and is pushed forward by the force of the spring. There is then a risk that the striker pushes in the primer of the cartridge and the shot can go away even when the bolt head is not completely locked, which is of course unacceptable.
It is these drawbacks that the invention intends to remedy more particularly by proposing a new type of rifle, with which the trigger is inactive as long as the breech head is not completely locked inside the barrel.
To this end the invention relates to a rifle with a linear breech, comprising a barrel, the breech, which is movable in translation relative to the barrel and which comprises a breech head adapted to be engaged inside one end of the barrel , the breech head internally accommodating a striker resiliently loaded by a spring, a trigger retaining trigger, a locking mechanism, for selectively locking the breech head in a configuration engaged inside the barrel, this mechanism comprising a lever movable between an unlocked position and a locked position. According to the invention, the stroke of the lever between the unlocked position and the locked position comprises a first section, along which the lever opposes the release of the striker under the force of the spring and pushes the striker in a configuration where the trigger no longer cooperates with the striker, and a second section, along which the striker is returned in a configuration where it is able to cooperate with the trigger and where the lever, then in the locked position, no longer opposes the release of the striker .
Thanks to the invention, during the bolt head locking phase, the striker is released from the trigger and is held in the armed position by the sole action of the lever.
- The lever comprises a mechanical member, which abuts against a complementary mechanical member of the striker when the lever is in the first section, so as, on the one hand, to oppose the relaxation of the striker under the force of the spring and, d on the other hand, pushing the striker into a configuration where the trigger no longer cooperates with the striker.
- The mechanical member of the lever and the complementary mechanical member of the striker together form a cam mechanism, making it possible to transform the rotation of the lever into a translational movement of the striker.
- When the lever is pivoted from the locked position to the unlocked position, the lever is capable of pushing the striker, against the elastic force exerted by the spring, into a position where the striker clings to the trigger by snap-fastening.
- The rifle includes another spring to hold the trigger in a position where it is capable of snapping with the striker.
- The second section is consecutive to the first section on the path of the lever between the unlocked position and the locked position.
- In the first section, the striker is pushed into a configuration where it is triggered by the trigger.
- The axis of rotation of the lever is perpendicular to the axis of movement of the striker.
- The locking mechanism comprises tilting segments arranged in a circle, in an abutment with one another, the segments being each movable between an unlocked position, where they do not prevent the disengagement of the breech head from the barrel, and a locked position, where they oppose the withdrawal of the breech head from the barrel. The locking mechanism comprises a member for switching the rocking segments from their unlocked position to their locked position, and vice versa.
- The member is a sleeve mounted sliding around the cylinder head.

It is then said that, when the lever is pivoted from the locked position to the unlocked position, the lever is capable of pushing the striker, against the elastic force exerted by the striker spring, into a position where the
Advantageously, the
In the example, the second section is consecutive to the first section on the path of the lever between the unlocked position and the locked position.
In most cases, the
In a variant not shown, the
The characteristics of the embodiment shown in the figures and variants not shown envisaged above can be combined with one another to generate new embodiments of the invention.
Claims (10)
- Linear breech carbine, comprising:- a barrel,- the breech (2) which is moveable in translation relative to the barrel and which comprises a breech head (6) adapted to be engaged inside one end of the barrel, the breech head accommodating in the interior a striking pin (8) which is loaded elastically by a spring,- a trigger (12) for retaining the striking pin,- a locking mechanism for selectively locking the breech head in a configuration engaged in the interior of the barrel, this mechanism comprising a lever (14) which is moveable between an unlocked position and a locked position, characterised in that the course of the lever (14) between the unlocked position and the locked position comprises:- a first section, along which the lever opposes release of the striking pin (8) under the force of the spring and pushes the striking pin into a configuration where the trigger (12) no longer cooperates with the striking pin, and- a second section, along which the striking pin is returned into a configuration where it is able to cooperate with the trigger and where the lever (14), then in the locked position, no longer opposes release of the striking pin (8).
- Carbine according to claim 1, characterised in that the lever (14) comprises a mechanical member (140) which abuts against a complementary mechanical member (80) of the striking pin (8) when the lever is situated in the first section, so as, on the one hand, to oppose release of the striking pin under the force of the spring and, on the other hand, to push the striking pin into a configuration where the trigger (12) no longer cooperates with the striking pin.
- Carbine according to claim 2, characterised in that the mechanical member (140) of the lever and the complementary mechanical member (80) of the striking pin together form a cam mechanism, making it possible to transform the rotation of the lever (14) into a translation movement of the striking pin (8).
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that when the lever (14) is pivoted from the locked position into the unlocked position, the lever is able to push the striking pin (8), in opposition to the elastic force exerted by the spring, until in a position where the striking pin hooks onto the trigger (12) by engagement.
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the carbine comprises another spring (13) for retaining the trigger (12) in a position where it is able to engage with the striking pin (8).
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the second section is consecutive to the first section over the course of the lever (14) between the unlocked position and the locked position.
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that, in the first section, the striking pin (8) is pushed into a configuration where it is disengaged from the trigger (12).
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the axis of rotation of the lever (14) is perpendicular to the axis of displacement of the striking pin (8).
- Carbine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the locking mechanism comprises rocking segments (16) disposed in a circle, attached to each other, the segments each being moveable between an unlocked position where they do not oppose the disengagement of the breech head (6) out of the barrel, and a locked position where they oppose withdrawal of the breech head (6) out of the barrel and in that the locking mechanism comprises a member (18) for rocking the rocking segments from their unlocked position into their locked position, and vice versa.
- Carbine according to claim 9, characterised in that the member (18) is a sleeve mounted to slide around the breech head (6).
