Definitions

  • the invention relates to a printed article, a method for checking the authenticity of a printed article and an article system.
  • Grid generally designates a regular system of intersecting lines (grid lines) which extend over an area to be printed and along which grid dots are arranged as printed elements.
  • grid lines Such raster systems are used in printing technology in order to be able to reproduce halftone images, for example.
  • a printing grid is printed on the surface to be printed.
  • the raster dots included in the print raster are arranged along the raster lines.
  • the raster dots can have different dot shapes, for example round or angular dot areas.
  • the number of raster dots per unit of length is referred to as the raster width or raster frequency. The smaller the dot spacing between adjacent halftone dots, the greater the halftone frequency.
  • amplitude modulated and frequency modulated screens are always the same distance from one another.
  • the grid points themselves can be of different sizes or the same size.
  • frequency-modulated print screens lack uniformity in the screen dot distribution.
  • the raster points are arranged according to a random distribution, resulting in a random distribution of the point distances between adjacent raster points.
  • a security and/or value document in particular a banknote, can be removed, with security features and with a verification element for verifying the security feature.
  • the pamphlet EP 0 279 526 A2 discloses a security document.
  • the pamphlet DE 699 17 947 T2 relates to a method and apparatus for authenticating documents by applying the intensity profile of moiré patterns.
  • the document FR 2 830 791 A discloses a document, such as a banknote or lottery ticket, which is printed with a first motif in a visible ink, oriented at a first angle to a reference axis, and overprinted with a second motif in an ink that is invisible in daylight but invisible under UV light is visible.
  • the second motif appears in a contrasting color to the first motif and is at a second angle to the reference axis; it also includes a third motif at an angle to the other two, revealed by a moiré effect.
  • the object of the invention is to specify improved technologies in connection with the forgery-proof formation of printed articles using halftone printing technology.
  • the authenticity of the printed article should be easily verifiable.
  • a printed article which has a display surface and a printing surface which is arranged in the region of the display surface.
  • the printing surface is printed with a printing grid in which grid dots are arranged at constant grid spacing along grid lines.
  • the grid lines are each designed as a circular arc.
  • a method for checking the authenticity of a printed article is created.
  • a printed article is provided as a test specimen, with the printed article having a printing surface in the region of a visible surface, which is printed with a printing grid in which grid dots are arranged with constant dot spacing along grid lines, each of which is an arc of a circle.
  • a test device is provided in the method.
  • the test means has a transparent test surface with a test print grid printed on it, in which grid dots with the same grid width as the grid dots of the print grid are arranged on the test object.
  • the test equipment is placed on the test item in such a way that the print pattern of the test item and the test print screen of the test equipment overlap.
  • the print screen of the test specimen and the test print screen of the test equipment are shifted relative to one another, for example rotated, until a moiré image becomes visible for the print screen and the test print screen.
  • an article system is created that is prepared for an authenticity check of the type mentioned above.
  • the article system has a printed article and a test device.
  • a printing surface is arranged in the area of a visible surface, which is printed with a printing grid in which grid dots are arranged with constant point or element spacing along grid lines, each of which is an arc of a circle.
  • the test means has a transparent test surface with a test print grid printed thereon, in which grid dots with the same grid width as the grid dots of the print grid are arranged on the printed article.
  • the raster dots of the printing raster can be designed to be the same or different in terms of their dot shape.
  • the dot shape can be round or square.
  • a circular shape or a square shape can be provided.
  • the print screen can be produced as a single color or as a multicolored print screen.
  • the printing surface can partially or completely cover the visible surface of the printed article.
  • a plurality of printing surfaces formed separately from one another can be provided, each of which is printed with a printing grid, it being possible for the printing grids of the printing surfaces which are separated from one another to be of the same or different design.
  • the print screens in different print areas can differ in terms of the dot spacing along the arc-shaped screen lines.
  • the size of the raster dots in the various print areas can be different.
  • the test means can have a plurality of test print grids which are formed with different grid widths, the grid widths corresponding to the grid widths of the plurality of print grids.
  • the test means with several test print grids of different grid widths can be provided regardless of whether the printed article has several print grids. In this way, a test device that can be used for various printed articles can be provided.
  • the printed article can, for example, be a printed document, for example a security document such as an identity card or a passport, in particular made of paper or in the form of a plastic card. Alternatively, it can be a paper document, such as a deed or certificate.
  • the printed document can also consist of materials other than paper, for example a plastic film or a cardboard material.
  • the printing surface with the printing grid arranged thereon can also be arranged on any other article.
  • the print screen can be printed on a sheet, which is then subsequently attached to the article, for example by gluing, which thereby becomes a printed article, ie an article on which the print surface with print screen is arranged.
  • the raster lines of the printing raster can extend along a circular arc in such a way that the raster lines and thus also the raster dots arranged along the raster line are not arranged on a closed circle.

  • the grid point or grid element size may change along the grid line.
  • the halftone dot size can increase steadily or continuously along the halftone line.
  • the changing raster dot size can be provided for individual or all raster lines of the printing raster.
  • the printed screen of the article can have a screen ruling in a range from about 100 lpi to about 700 lpi.
  • the screen ruling of the print screen corresponds to 100 to 700 lines per inch (lpi).
  • the printing screen can be printed using a sympathetic ink.
  • a sympathetic ink For example, it can be a printing ink that only becomes visible when illuminated with UV light.
  • a first tangent to a first point of the circular arc and a second tangent to a second point of the circular arc enclose an angle in the range from about 3 degrees to about 15 degrees, preferably in a range from about 5 degrees to about 10 degrees, which corresponds to the central angle of the circular arc bounded by the first point and the second point, the second point of the circular arc projected perpendicular to the first tangent having a distance along the first tangent in the range from about 10 cm to about 22 cm from the first point of the circular arc.
  • the distance can range from about 15 cm to about 22 cm.
  • the print screen can be an amplitude modulated print screen.
  • the circular arcs of the print screen can all have the same curvature. Alternatively, it can be provided that the circular arcs of the printing screen have different curvatures. For example, a steadily or continuously increasing curvature of the raster lines can be provided over the distribution of the raster lines of the printing raster.
  • the grid points can be arranged along straight grid lines.
  • the raster dots can be arranged along curved lines whose curvature differs from that of the raster lines of the print raster to be checked; in particular, a different arc radius can be provided.
  • the moiré image that occurs when the test piece and test equipment are placed one on top of the other can be visible to the naked eye.
  • the authenticity check is carried out with the aid of an optical imaging system, for example a camera system, with which an image is generated on a screen in order to make the formation of the moiré image detectable.
