- FIG. 10 illustrates an embodiment and arrangement of a passive sound damper.
- the present invention relates to an installation for the natural ventilation of a room, which is characterized by a particular design of the ventilation passage and the sound damper it comprises.
- the installation comprises a local L delimited by walls P.
- This room can be a room of a house or office.
- the walls P are typically masonry walls.
- At least one door or window F is installed in one of the walls P of the local L.
- This window F is preferably a window multi-glazing, for example double glazing, but can be single glazed. It forms an interface between the interior of the room L and the outside of said room.
- the window F in itself is of the known type. It consists of one or more leaves V, V as illustrated in FIG. 1.
- Each leaf V, V consists of an opening frame 30, 30 '(simply called "opening" in joinery) formed by horizontal profiles 30a, 30'a and vertical 30b1, 30b2, 30'b1, 30'b2 framing at least one glazed panel 4, 4 '.
- the opening frames 30, 30 ' have a generally rectangular shape, which borders the respective panels 4, 4' along its four sides. They are preferably identical.
- the opening frames 30, 30 ' are movably mounted in a frame 31 (simply called “frame” in joinery) fixed to the wall P.
- This frame 31 is secured to the wall P and more generally the shell or frame of the assembly where the window F is to be arranged. It is also formed by horizontal profiles 31a and vertical 31b1, 31b2 framing the opening frames 30, 30 '.
- the dimensions of the opening frames 30, 30 'in width are substantially equal to half of those of the frame 31 which surrounds them. Their height dimensions are substantially equal to that of the frame 31, the thickness of the profiles close.
- the opening frames 30, 30 ' have a width of 1.5 m and a height of 2.5 m.
- the profiles 30a, 30'a, 30b1, 30b2, 30'b1, 30'b2, 31a, 31b1, 31b2 are rigid, made of metal such as aluminum or other, wood, plastic or even combining such materials.
- the window F is a sliding window. At least the leaf V is able to move by sliding laterally on at least one horizontal carrier rail 31c mounted in the frame 31, and in particular in its lower part.
- the opening frame 30 may include one or more trolleys with wheels or rollers, adapted to ensure its sliding in the rail 31 c.
- the opening frame 30 is movable between a closed position ( Figures 1, 2 and 5) where it closes the frame 31 and an open position where it releases it.
- the open position ensures natural ventilation between the inside and the outside E of the room L.
- the two leaves V, V are in the extension of one another, whereas in the open position they overlap.
- the lateral vertical profile 30b1 of the opening frame 30 penetrates into the corresponding vertical section 31b1 of the frame 31, these two sections sealingly securing each other.
- these two sections 30b1, 31b1 comprise mutual locking means for locking the leaf V in this position.
- lateral opening frame 30 deviates from the corresponding vertical profile 31 b1 of the frame 31, a predetermined distance (for example between 2 cm and 15 cm, preferably 10 cm) when the leaf V slides. Natural ventilation is possible between the interior and exterior E of room L, through window F.
- the ventilation passage 1 In this intermediate open position, the ventilation passage 1 is formed. It is delimited by the space separating the lateral vertical profile 30b1 from the opening frame 30 of the corresponding vertical profile 31b1 of the frame 31 when said opening frame 30 is in the intermediate open position.
- the passage 1 communicates between the outside E of the room L and the inside of said room to allow a natural ventilation between the outside E and the interior of said room, over the entire height of the window F.
- This natural ventilation is shown schematically in Figures 4 and 6 by the arrow drawn in the passage 1.
- the width of the ventilation passage 1 corresponds to the sliding distance of leaf V from the closed position to the intermediate open position, for example between 2 cm and 15 cm, preferably 10 cm. In the closed position, the ventilation passage 1 has a zero thickness. Any ventilation between the interior and exterior E of the room L through the ventilation passage 1 is prohibited.
- the ventilation passage 1 is delimited by the profiles 30b1 and 31b1, it is not necessary to add an additional accessory that can reduce the total glazed area of the window F and the illumination of the local L. Thanks to the invention, this total glazed surface and this illumination are fully preserved.
- a member 310c forming a stop when the opening frame 30 is in the intermediate open position.
- This element 310c is clearly visible in Figures 2 and 5 and is for example in the form of an elastomeric rib installed in the rail 31c.
- an active noise damper 2 is associated with the ventilation passage 1. This damper is used for active or passive noise control. It is directly integrated in one of the profiles 30b1 or 31b1 supra. In the embodiment of Figures 1 to 4, the noise damper 2 is directly installed in the first section 31 b1 of the frame 31. In the embodiment of Figures 5 and 6, the noise damper 2 is directly installed in the first section 30b1 of the opening frame 30.
- An active damper 2 generates in the ventilation passage 1, a noise level equivalent to the ambient sound level to be controlled, including noise from a source of noise located outside E. In practice, this active damper 2 generates a noise that is superimposed on the sound waves propagating in the ventilation passage 1.
- the active noise damper 2 can be in the form of a piezoelectric actuator or a loudspeaker.
- a linear loudspeaker of the type described in the aforementioned US Pat. No. 6,285,773 (Carme) is preferably used and to which the person skilled in the art can refer if necessary.
- This type of linear speaker can indeed be easily housed in a reduced volume and in particular in a narrow space, while having a performance comparable to that of a conventional speaker conical membranes.
- the geometric shape and the particular arrangement of the constituent elements of the linear loudspeaker offer a very satisfactory performance. In particular, given the long length of the membrane, it moves a large mass of air during its vibration, which provides a good performance in the low frequencies.
- This linear speaker is for example installed vertically over the entire length of the profile 30b1 or 31 b1.
- the linear speaker may however be replaced by several circular speakers 22 installed side by side along the entire length of the profile 30b1 or 31 b1 as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 3.
- ASCA loudspeakers marketed by the applicant.
- loudspeaker is used, bearing the reference 22, that the latter is a loudspeaker as such (linear or circular) or a piezoelectric actuator.
- the sound absorber 2 may comprise a single linear speaker or several circular speakers 22 arranged along the profile 30b1 or 31b1.
- An integration in the frame 31 makes it possible to simplify the design of the damper 2 and its wiring.
- the choice of the number of loudspeakers and their arrangement depends on the sound field to attenuate, by superposition, the noises propagating in the passage. ventilation 1, to increase the sound insulation when the window is in the intermediate open position.
- the loudspeaker 22 comprises a membrane 220 adapted to vibrate and generate a counter-noise in the ventilation passage 1.
- An actuator 221 is associated with the diaphragm 220. This actuator 221 is adapted to induce a vibratory movement at the diaphragm 220. It may be a piezoelectric actuator or, more conventionally, an actuator using an electrically energized magnet and coil arrangement to cause the vibration of the diaphragm 220 which generates the noise.
- At least one microphone 21 is installed in the ventilation passage 1 to capture the acoustic signals propagating therein.
- the microphone 21 sends a signal representative of the noise in the ventilation passage 1 to a control electronics 23. Therefore, the control electronics 23 emits a control signal to the actuator 221 as a function of the acoustic signals picked up by the microphone 21.
- the damper 2 thus increases the sound insulation of the window F while it is in the intermediate open position.
- the microphone 21 is advantageously a control microphone connected to the control electronics 23. This control microphone 21 is installed in the ventilation passage 1 so that it is as far away as possible from the noise source S. Generally, the control microphone 21 is offset from the longitudinal center plane MP of the profile 30b1, 31b1 on which it is installed, opposite the source of noise S to be attenuated. In the example of FIGS.
- the control microphone 21 is shifted from the longitudinal median plane MP, to the room L. If the noise source S is the ambient noise prevailing inside the room L (for example the music of a discotheque), the control microphone 21 is shifted from the longitudinal median plane MP, towards the outside E.
- the Applicant has surprisingly found that the noise attenuation was effective and stable, in a relatively wide frequency band from 0 Hz to 650 Hz, and more particularly from 70 Hz to 650 Hz.
- control microphone 21 is oriented in a direction which is perpendicular to the direction of propagation, in the ventilation passage 1, acoustic signals from the source of noise S.
- the control microphone 21 is thus oriented in a direction that is parallel to the direction of movement of the leaf V, that is to say parallel to the longitudinal median plane MP.
- This residual acoustic signal is a combination of noise residual reaching the interior of the room L and a noise generated by the speaker 22 which is ideally the inverted copy of the noise to be removed from the source S.
- control microphone 21 is installed on the same profile 30b1, 31b1 as that in which is installed the speaker 22. More particularly, the control microphone 21 is adjacent to the membrane 220. This configuration simplifies the design of the noise damper 2 in the extent that all its constituent elements are grouped together in one and the same profile 30b1, 31b1.
- the control microphone 21 may, however, be installed in the ventilation passage 1, on another profile which is remote from the profile 30b1, 31b1 in which the loudspeaker 22 is installed.
- the control microphone 21 may for example be arranged on the profile 30b1 of the opening frame 30 which is opposite the profile 31 b1 of the frame 31 in which the speaker 22 is installed.
- the reverse configuration is of course conceivable.
- the control microphone 21 can still be installed on one of the horizontal sections 31a of the frame, in the ventilation passage 1, while the speaker 22 is installed on one of the vertical profiles 30b1 or 30b2, and vice versa.
- control electronics 23 comprises a non-adaptive type FB feedback filtering means having an input FBe connected to the control microphone 21 and an output FBs connected to the actuator 1. 1.
- the active feedback attenuation technique is based on a feedback loop arranged to generate an active attenuation of the sound waves propagating in the ventilation passage 1.
- the signal measured by the control microphone 21 is injected into the actuator 221 through the feedback filtering means FB which corrects said signal to attempt to cancel its energy.
- This retroactive technique makes it possible to obtain an acoustic attenuation with a certain gain, without generating instability in a frequency band of treatment. Most often, this treatment frequency band corresponds to low frequencies, for example sound waves in the frequency band ranging from 0 to 400 Hz and more particularly from 70 Hz to 400 Hz.
- the control electronics 23 advantageously comprises: pre-amplification means comprising an input connected to the control microphone 21 and an output connected to the input FBe of the feedback filtering means FB; and amplification means comprising an input connected to the output FBs of the feedback filtering means FB, and an output connected to the actuator 221.
- This control electronics 23 constitutes here a feedback loop arranged to generate an active acoustic attenuation without generating instability in a selected frequency band.
- the frequency band in which the feedback filtering means FB is effective without generating instability in the sense of Nyquist is of the order of 0 to 650 Hz for sound waves, and more particularly of 70 Hz to 650 Hz.
- the feedback filtering means FB comprises a plurality of active analog filters of order greater than or equal to 1, arranged to generate a transfer function making it possible to avoid instabilities in the 0-650 frequency band.
- the transfer function of the filtering means FB is determined such that the phase of said transfer function does not pass through the value 0 in the band 0 -600 Hz, and more particularly the band 70-600 Hz.
- control electronics 23 comprises for this purpose an FF (FEEDFORWARD) anticipation filtering means, having an FFe input connected to a reference microphone 25 and an FFs output connected to the actuator. 221.
- FF FEDFORWARD
- a reference microphone 25 of the PUI Audio brand bearing the reference POM-2246L-C33-R and manufactured by the company PUI Audio can be used.
- a reference acoustic field upstream of the propagation of the acoustic field in the ventilation passage 1, is detected by the reference microphone 25, then processed by the filtering means FF in order to determine the command to be applied to the actuator 221.
- pre-amplification means comprising an input connected to the reference microphone 25 and an output connected to the input FFe of the forward filtering means FF; and amplification means comprising an input connected to the output FFs of the forward filtering means FF, and an output connected to the actuator 221.
- the control electronics 23 comprise summing means 24 having: a first input 24e1 connected to the output FBs of the feedback filtering means FB; a second input 24e2 connected to the output FFs of the forward filtering means FF; and an output 24s connected to the actuator 221.
- the output signal of the summing means 24 which is applied to the actuator 11 is thus a linear combination of the signals coming from the signal channels. filtering by feedback and anticipation.
- Amplification means are advantageously provided comprising an input connected to the output 24s of the summing means 24, and an output connected to the actuator 221.
- the anticipation technique is articulated around the non-adaptive type FF anticipatory filtering means or adaptive. Compared to non-adaptive filtering, adaptive filtering is more efficient in terms of noise attenuation, but requires more computing power and higher realization cost.
- the forward filtering means FF is of the non-adaptive type
- its transfer function is a fixed function which is preset and which does not vary.
- the transfer function is dynamically modified, continuously, by an algorithm for real-time analysis of the acoustic signal from the source S.
- the coefficients of the FF anticipatory filtering means are adapted in real time according to an algorithm chosen so as to minimize the energy of the vibrations picked up by the control microphone 21 as a function of the energy of the reference vibrations picked up by the reference microphone 25.
- the forward filtering means FF comprises: a first input FFe1 connected to the control microphone 21; and a second FFe2 input connected to the reference microphone 25.
- the FF anticipatory filtering means comprises adaptive type finite impulse response filters. The coefficients of these filters are updated in real time by a minimization algorithm which takes into account the signals picked up by the control microphone 21.
- the minimization algorithm is of the least mean squares type, also called LMS for "LEAST MEAN SQUARES" or more advantageously of the least significant type.
- the transfer function of the secondary said path between the loudspeaker 22 and the control microphone 21 is measured, sampled and saved in the memory of a processor of the control electronics 23. thus previously measured transfer will then be used in the calibration phase for the adaptation of filter elements anticipation.
- This step is performed in a manner known to those skilled in the art.
- the "hybrid" type active attenuation obtained according to the invention results from a combination of the anticipation and feedback filtering means in which the anticipatory filtering is grafted onto the feedback filtering or vice versa.
- This makes it possible to linearize the retroactive attenuation in a whole frequency band wider than the frequency band (0-650 Hz, and more particularly 70-650 Hz) processed directly by the FBF filtering means, to accelerate the convergence of the minimization algorithm, and to improve the robustness of the FF anticipatory filtering means.
- This improves the active attenuation gain in an enlarged band that can go up to 4000 Hz, by suppressing the pumping effect mentioned above.
- the reference microphone 25 is installed on the same profile 30b1, 31b1 as that in which the loudspeaker 22 is installed. Unlike the control microphone 21, it is installed outside the ventilation passageway. 1 and oriented towards the source of noise S. The reference microphone 25 can thus optimally capture the copy of the noise to be removed from the source S and transmit this signal to the control electronics 23. Good results are obtained when the reference microphone 25 is oriented in a direction which is parallel to the direction of propagation of the acoustic signals from the noise source S. The reference microphone 25 is thus oriented in a direction which is perpendicular to the direction of movement of the diaphragm 220, that is to say perpendicular to the longitudinal median plane MP of the profile 30b1 , 31 b1. In this arrangement, it appears that the reference microphone 25 satisfactorily collects the acoustic signal coming from the noise source S, without being disturbed by the noise generated by the loudspeaker 22.
- the reference microphone 25 and the control microphone 21 are carried by the same profile 30b1, 31b1.
- the control microphone 21 and the reference microphone 25 are each carried by a separate section.
- the reference microphone 25 may for example be arranged on the profile 30b1 of the opening frame 30 which is opposite to the vertical profile 31b1 in which the speaker 22 and the control microphone 21 are installed. It can also be installed on one of the horizontal sections 31a of the frame 31, while the speaker 22 and the control microphone 21 are installed on one of the profiles 30b1, 31b1, and vice versa.
- Other arrangements may be envisaged, such as those described in the European patent EP0898774 (FRAUNHOFER) or in the US patent US 6963647 (FRAUNHOFER), to which the skilled person can refer if necessary.
- a switch is adapted to activate the noise damper 2.
- the switch 5 is in the form of a toggle switch or push-button installed in the room L on a wall P, which switch is of the type traditionally used for lighting. By manipulating this switch 5, the user can activate or deactivate the noise absorber 2, for example by controlling the power supply of the control electronics 23.
- the switch is controlled by the movement of the window F so that when said window passes from the closed position to the intermediate open position, said switch automatically activates the noise damper 2 active.
- a position sensor may be installed in the rail 31c.
- the position sensor When the window F is in the intermediate open position, the position sensor cooperates with the switch so that the latter automatically activates the active noise damper 2.
- This switch can also be adapted to automatically disable the noise absorber 2 active when the window F is in the closed position or it is not in the intermediate open position.
- the damper 2 may also be passive, that is to say it is adapted to absorb all or part of the sound waves propagating in the ventilation passage 1.
- the faces of the profiles 30b1, 31b1 , 31 a which are located in the ventilation passage 1 and which delimit said passage on these four sides, may be partially or completely covered with a sound insulating material.
- the noise damper 2 is installed in the profile 31 b1 of the frame 31.
- the face of the corresponding section 30b1 of the opening frame 30, which is located vis-à-vis the damper 2 , in FIGS. 5 and 6, the sound absorber 2 is installed in the profile 30b1 of the opening frame 31.
- the face of the corresponding section 31b1 of the fixed frame 31, which is situated in the face of with respect to the damper 2, is coated with the sound insulating material 13.
- the damper 2 is passive.
- a flexible membrane 220 is simply suspended from the side walls of a cavity 223 arranged in the profile 30b1, 31b1. The membrane 220 closes the cavity 223 so as to vibrate in the ventilation passage 1. In this configuration, the membrane 220 absorbs all or part of the sound waves propagating in the ventilation passage 1, to increase the sound insulation .
- the membrane 220 is for example formed by a film with elastic properties, such as an elastomer having an elastic power or a polyethylene film.
- the local L may be a particular passenger compartment, such as the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, a train, or even an aircraft.
- the walls P are then for example made of sheets.
- the window F may comprise a single leaf V formed by the opening frame 30 mounted movably in the frame 31, or more than two leaves.
- the two leaves V, V may be able to move by sliding laterally in parallel planes on horizontal support rails mounted to the lower part of the fixed fixed frame 31.
- the leaf V can move by sliding vertically on one or more vertical load-bearing rails mounted in the side portion of the frame 31, and in particular in the vertical sections 31 b.
- the frames 30 and 31 are preferably of rectangular or square shape, but may be of polygonal shape, have one or more curved edges, etc.
- the natural ventilation in the passage 1 can be from outside the room L to the outside E; or from inside the room L to the outside E.
- the element 310c forming an abutment may be in any other form that is suitable for those skilled in the art.
- the ventilation passage 1 and the noise damper 2 may be associated with an oscillating window where the opening frame 30 is rotatably mounted in the frame 31.
- the FEEDBACK feedback filter can be adaptive, for example using an IMC-FXLMS type algorithm for "Internal Model Control
- the processing can be either analog or digital.
- the FEEDFORWARD advance filter can be used alone, without a FEEDBACK feedback filter.
