Abstract

La présente invention a pour objet un procédé pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors (T1, T2, T3, T4), caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte les étapes suivantes : • Détection d'une défaillance sur un transistor (T) parmi ladite pluralité de transistors; • Extinction dudit transistor sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée; • Détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie; et • Extinction des autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors. La présente invention se rapporte également à un système pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors.

Description

Procédé pour limiter le courant dans des dispositifs de type « Pont en H »
La présente invention se rapporte au domaine de l'électronique.
La présente invention possède des applications particulièrement avantageuses dans le domaine de l'électronique pour l'automobile, et notamment dans le domaine des dispositifs de type « Pont en H » et des pilotes de puissance.
Dans les circuits de type « Pont en H », on implémente des protections contre les courants possédant une intensité trop élevée dits « overcurrents » en langue anglaise pour chacun des transistors de puissance.
Lorsqu'un transistor détecte un phénomène de forte contrainte dit « over stress » en langue anglaise, tous les transistors sont coupés en même temps.
La figure 2 illustre un système selon l'état de la technique. On observe sur la figure 2 qu'en cas de détection de courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « overcurrent », tous les transistors sont coupés en même temps.
Ceci implique, en cas de charge inductive, une phase de décharge par diode de roue libre vers la masse et vers l'alimentation positive.
La phase de décharge inductive dans les diodes de roue libre engendre une injection substrat dans les circuits électroniques et contraint à mettre en place des processus semi-conducteur coûteux pour y résister.
La phase de décharge inductive dans les diodes de roue libre engendre également du côté « highside » (c'est-à-dire du côté relié à la tension d'alimentation) une montée de la tension d'alimentation. Ceci contraint à augmenter les capacités de découplage et donc le coût.
La présente invention entend remédier aux inconvénients de l'art antérieur en proposant un procédé permettant de supprimer ou en tout état de cause de diminuer très fortement l'injection diode de roue libre dans le cas d'une détection de courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « overcurrent » ou de détection de phénomènes de type « thermal shutdown » en langue anglaise, c'est-à-dire une coupure pour une raison de température excessive.
A cet effet, la présente invention concerne, dans son acception la plus générale, un procédé pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors, remarquable en ce qu'il comporte les étapes suivantes :
• Détection d'une défaillance sur un transistor parmi ladite pluralité de transistors ;
• Extinction dudit transistor sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie ; et
• Extinction des autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors. Ainsi, le procédé selon la présente invention permet de supprimer ou de diminuer très fortement l'injection diode de roue libre dans le cas d'une détection de courant possédant une intensité trop élevé dit « over current » ou d'un phénomène thermique dit « thermal shutdown ».
Le procédé selon la présente invention permet la mise en oeuvre de processus semi-conducteur avec une faible immunité à l'injection substrat.
Le procédé selon la présente invention permet également de réduire les phénomènes dénommés « overshoot » de la tension d'alimentation et donc de réduire les capacités de découplage.
Le procédé selon la présente invention permet également de réduire la taille des diodes de roue libre.
Selon un mode de réalisation, ladite défaillance est liée à un courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « overcurrent ».
Selon un mode de réalisation, ladite défaillance est liée à un phénomène thermique.
Selon un mode de réalisation, ladite détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de courant sur les transistors opposés.
Selon un mode de réalisation, ladite détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de tension sur les transistors opposés.
La présente invention se rapporte également à un système pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors, remarquable en ce qu'il comporte des moyens pour :
· Détecter une défaillance sur un transistor parmi ladite pluralité de transistors ;
• Eteindre ledit transistor sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détecter sur les transistors opposés audit transistor la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie ; et
• Eteindre les autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors.
On comprendra mieux l'invention à l'aide de la description, faite ci-après à titre purement explicatif, d'un mode de réalisation de l'invention, en référence aux figures dans lesquelles :
- la figure 1 illustre le procédé selon la présente invention dans un mode de réalisation ;
- la figure 2 illustre un système selon l'état de la technique ; et
- la figure 3 illustre le système mettant en oeuvre le procédé selon la présente invention, dans un mode de réalisation. La figure 1 illustre le procédé selon la présente invention dans un mode de réalisation.
La présente invention, telle qu'illustrée figure 1, concerne un procédé pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4, comportant les étapes suivantes :
• Détection 10 d'une défaillance sur un transistor T parmi ladite pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4 ;
• Extinction 20 dudit transistor T sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor T de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée 30 en sortie ; et
• Extinction 40 des autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4.
Dans un mode de réalisation, la défaillance est liée à un courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « overcurrent ».
Dans un mode de réalisation, la défaillance est liée à un phénomène thermique.
Dans un mode de réalisation, la détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor T de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de courant sur les transistors opposés.
Dans un mode de réalisation, la détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor T de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de tension sur les transistors opposés.
La présente invention se rapporte également à un système pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4. Ce système comporte des moyens pour :
• Détecter une défaillance sur un transistor T parmi ladite pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4 ;
• Eteindre ledit transistor T sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détecter sur les transistors opposés audit transistor T la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie ; et
• Eteindre les autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors T1 , T2, T3, T4.
On décrit dans la suite un exemple de réalisation de la présente invention. On considère un dispositif comportant quatre transistors T1 , T2, T3 et T4. Si un courant possédant une intensité trop élevée est détecté dans le transistor T1 , on éteint le transistor T1 , mais on n'éteint pas les transistors T2, T3 et T4. On attend pour cela de détecter sur les transistors opposés au transistor T1 la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie. C'est uniquement à ce moment-là qu'on éteint les autres transistors, contrairement aux solutions de l'état de la technique. Ce procédé est similaire si un courant possédant une intensité trop élevée est détecté dans le transistor 12, T3 ou T4.
La figure 3 illustre le système mettant en œuvre le procédé selon la présente invention, dans un mode de réalisation. Contrairement à la solution de l'état de la technique représentée figure 2, en cas de détection de courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « overcurrent », on ne coupe pas tous les transistors en même temps. On attend pour cela de détecter sur les transistors opposés au premier transistor la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie.
Ainsi, le procédé selon la présente invention permet de supprimer ou de diminuer très fortement l'injection diode de roue libre dans le cas d'une détection de courant possédant une intensité trop élevée dit « over current » ou d'un phénomène thermique évoqué plus haut.
Le procédé selon la présente invention permet la mise en œuvre de processus semi-conducteur avec une faible immunité à l'injection substrat.
Le procédé selon la présente invention permet également de réduire les phénomènes dénommés « overshoot » (en langue anglaise) de la tension d'alimentation et donc de réduire les capacités de découplage.
La présente invention s'applique à tous types de circuits comportant des « high sides » ou des circuits ayant plusieurs MOS avec des phases de diode de roue libre.
L'invention est décrite dans ce qui précède à titre d'exemple. Il est entendu que l'homme du métier est à même de réaliser différentes variantes de l'invention sans pour autant sortir du cadre du brevet.

Claims

REVENDICATIONS
1. Procédé pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4), caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte les étapes suivantes :
• Détection d'une défaillance sur un transistor (T) parmi ladite pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4) ;
• Extinction dudit transistor (T) sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor (T) de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie ; et
• Extinction des autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4).
2. Procédé selon la revendication 1 , caractérisé en ce que ladite défaillance est liée à un courant possédant une intensité trop élevée.
3. Procédé selon la revendication 1 , caractérisé en ce que ladite défaillance est liée à un phénomène thermique.
4. Procédé selon la revendication 1 , 2 ou 3, caractérisé en ce que ladite détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor (T) de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de courant sur les transistors opposés.
5. Procédé selon la revendication 1 , 2 ou 3, caractérisé en ce que ladite détection sur les transistors opposés audit transistor (T) de la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie est réalisée par un détecteur de tension sur les transistors opposés.
6. Système pour limiter le courant dans un dispositif de type « Pont en H » comportant une pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4), caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte des moyens pour :
• Détecter une défaillance sur un transistor (T) parmi ladite pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4) ;
• Eteindre ledit transistor (T) sur lequel une défaillance a été détectée ;
• Détecter sur les transistors opposés audit transistor (T) la décharge de l'énergie accumulée en sortie ; et
• Eteindre les autres transistors de ladite pluralité de transistors (T1 , T2, T3, T4).
