Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a three-dimensional article from a mounting kit comprising a plurality of planar parts from at least one raw sheet of material such as cardboard, said article being obtained by assembly of said plurality of parts connected to each other, in which process, in order to produce the assembly kit for said article, all the pieces of said article are positioned in said at least one raw sheet of material, said parts are precut in said raw sheet to obtain a cut sheet, during the cutting operation, uncut areas are formed forming attachment points arranged to hold the precut pieces together and in said cut sheet.
- the invention also relates to a mounting kit for manufacturing a three-dimensional article, said mounting kit comprising a plurality of planar parts from at least one raw sheet of material such as cardboard, and an article obtained by assembly. said plurality of cardboard pieces bonded together.
- the publications US 4,875,737 , US 6,048,032 , EP 2 099 334 B1 and DE 10 2010 040 712 A1 provide examples of cardboard furniture made from a mounting kit comprising a plurality of pieces cut from different sheets of cardboard, these cut pieces being superimposed and transported flat, to be then assembled in three dimensions.
- the cut pieces constituting the mounting kit are packaged flat in a specific packaging, such as a cardboard packaging, a film, a container-shaped suitcase or the like, facilitating their storage and transport.
- a specific packaging such as a cardboard packaging, a film, a container-shaped suitcase or the like, facilitating their storage and transport.
- each cut piece constituting the piece of furniture must be individually identified, referenced, managed and manipulated until it is assembled with the other cut pieces to be packaged as a kit.
- cardboard boxes that incidentally include a game or a cardboard toy to be made from these boxes when the food has been consumed. Examples of such examples are described in the publications JP S59 75482 U and US 2004/094610 A1 .
- These boxes which often form an overpack, are formed from a relatively thin sheet of cardboard, less than a millimeter to save raw material. In this case we speak of compact cardboard and never corrugated paperboard too expensive to produce for this type of application. They generally have a parallelepipedal shape and a dimension substantially corresponding to an A4 format. The parts of the game or the toy are therefore small and pre-cut in at least one of the front or rear walls of the box.
- the three-dimensional object obtained after assembly of the parts is small, lightweight and of low mechanical strength.
- this design is very far from the field of the invention, which mainly concerns furniture and interior decoration, and therefore requires large pieces, beyond the size of these boxes. packaging, precut in a thick cardboard sheet, beyond the thickness of the cardboard sheet used for these boxes. The current solutions are therefore not totally satisfactory.
- the present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by proposing a new method of manufacturing a three-dimensional article in a sheet of material such as cardboard, packaged in a mounting kit for optimizing industrial production, to lower the costs of production. manufacturing, reduce waste, and ensure high repeatability, without adding overwrap, ensuring the integrity of the mounting kit, without loss or omission of parts, thus facilitating the management of references to produce, while offering the buyer a quality item, very easy to assemble, without glue, chisel or cutter, additional accessory, or any additional finish, which can be quickly disassembled to be transported flat, said article obtained can of course be customized as desired, and being secure without any visible cutting edge.
- the invention relates to a manufacturing method as defined in claim 1. It is characterized in that at least two substantially oblong openings are cut in said cut sheet at predetermined locations, in that the at the time of the cutting operation, at least one first hinge fold is created on a median line separating said cut sheet into two substantially equal parts, in that the two parts are folded one above the other in folding said cut sheet around said first hinge fold to form a carrying case of the mounting kit, and in that said openings are arranged to allow the passage of a hand and to define with the cut sheet a carrying handle when said sheet cut out is folded into a suitcase.
- the pieces of said article are cut in a single raw sheet of material.
- At least a first hinge fold and a second hinge fold can be created during the cutting operation on two median lines perpendicular to each other separating said cut sheet into four substantially equal portions, cut the second hinge fold to the intersection with the first hinge fold, and we fold the four parts one on the other by folding said cut sheet around respectively the first hinge fold and then around the second hinge fold to form said bag.
- the second and third hinge folds are cut to the intersection with the first hinge fold, and the six parts are folded one over the other by folding said cut sheet around respectively the first hinge fold and then the second hinge fold and finally the third hinge fold to form said bag.
- locking means arranged to hold the parts of said cut sheet when folded in a suitcase can be created in said openings.
- At least one mounting instruction for said article can be printed on said raw sheet of material.
- a mounting kit as defined in claim 9. It is made from the manufacturing method as defined above, for manufacturing a piece of furniture selected from a stool, a chair, a table of bedside table with a drawer, a shelf, a multiple shelf, a box spring, or any other item selected from a decorative object such as a light, a game, a toy, a utility object.
- the manufacturing method according to the invention is described with reference to three different types of furniture, namely a stool according to the Figures 1 to 5 , a shelf according to Figures 6 to 10 and a luminaire according to the Figures 11 to 15 .

Also known in the field of bulk food packaging, cardboard boxes that incidentally include a game or a cardboard toy to be made from these boxes when the food has been consumed. Examples of such examples are described in the publications
The current solutions are therefore not totally satisfactory.
The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by proposing a new method of manufacturing a three-dimensional article in a sheet of material such as cardboard, packaged in a mounting kit for optimizing industrial production, to lower the costs of production. manufacturing, reduce waste, and ensure high repeatability, without adding overwrap, ensuring the integrity of the mounting kit, without loss or omission of parts, thus facilitating the management of references to produce, while offering the buyer a quality item, very easy to assemble, without glue, chisel or cutter, additional accessory, or any additional finish, which can be quickly disassembled to be transported flat, said article obtained can of course be customized as desired, and being secure without any visible cutting edge.
For this purpose, the invention relates to a manufacturing method as defined in claim 1.
Preferably, the pieces of said article are cut in a single raw sheet of material.
However and according to the dimensions of said article, it is possible to cut the pieces of said article into at least two raw sheets of material. In this case, at least one of said cut sheets obtained is folded around the other cut sheet to form said bag.
According to the dimensions of said cut sheet, at least a first hinge fold and a second hinge fold can be created during the cutting operation on two median lines perpendicular to each other separating said cut sheet into four substantially equal portions, cut the second hinge fold to the intersection with the first hinge fold, and we fold the four parts one on the other by folding said cut sheet around respectively the first hinge fold and then around the second hinge fold to form said bag.
It is also possible to create during the cutting operation a first hinge fold on a median line and then a second and third hinge fold on two lines parallel to each other and perpendicular to said center line separating said cut sheet into six substantially equal parts. , the second and third hinge folds are cut to the intersection with the first hinge fold, and the six parts are folded one over the other by folding said cut sheet around respectively the first hinge fold and then the second hinge fold and finally the third hinge fold to form said bag.
In said apertures locking means arranged to hold the parts of said cut sheet when folded in a suitcase can be created in said openings.

In the exemplary embodiments illustrated, the elements or identical parts bear the same reference numbers. The material used is generally in the form of a raw sheet of material, flat, and preferably rectangular, without this form being limiting. The material can be cardboard. In this case, the raw sheet may consist of one or more layers of flat and / or corrugated cardboard, superimposed and glued together. When using flat cardboard, it is called compact cardboard whose thickness of a layer may vary between 0.25mm and 0.40mm, without these values being limiting. When corrugated cardboard is used, each layer of cardboard may be single, double or triple corrugated, depending on the intended applications and the mechanical stresses to which the manufactured article must respond. For example, the thickness of a layer of corrugated cardboard may vary depending on the thickness of the grooves between 0.7mm and 5mm, without these values being limiting. One can of course superimpose several layers of corrugated cardboard increasing all the thickness of the raw sheet of material and its mechanical strength. This example of material is not limiting and extends to any other material that can be cut and folded in a manner similar to the cardboard, and having similar advantages to the cardboard, such as lightness and rigidity. Mention may be made of certain synthetic or composite materials, such as, for example, cellular polypropylene, cellular polycarbonate, and any equivalent cellular material.
Of course, before this cutting operation, it is possible to print on the raw sheet of
The printing operation and the cutting operation can each be performed in a single pass on a printing machine and then on a cutting machine respectively. The printing can be done by flexography, inkjet, screen printing, offset, or any other suitable printing technique. The cutting can be done by stamping, laser, or any other suitable cutting means. The
The manufacturing method of the invention which has just been described is of course adaptable to other items in three dimensions, as explained below. In the following description, not all process steps are described again in detail. Only the characteristics that differ are developed. In cases where the piece of furniture to be made is too large to fit on a single raw sheet, then the pieces of said piece of furniture are distributed on several raw sheets of material, these pieces being secured to the sheets by attachment points, and these sheets being grouped inside one of the sheets of material to secure them in the form of a carrying case, according to the manufacturing method of the invention.

The arrangement of the parts of the mounting
