Die vorliegende Erfindung offenbart ein Verfahren zur Veränderung einer Geometrie einer Kante (24) eines tragbaren Datenträgers (12), wobei die Geometrie der Kante (24) verändert wird, um die Kante (24) und die Außenseite (26, 28) des Datenträgers (12) von einer gemeinsamen Seite aus zu bearbeiten, ohne dass eine räumliche Lage des Datenträgers (12) verändert wird.

Description

VERFAHREN ZUR VERÄNDERUNG EINER KANTE EINES TRAGBAREN KARTENFÖRMIGEN DATENTRÄGERS
Die Erfindung beschreibt Verfahren zur Veränderung einer Kante eines tragbaren Datenträgers.
Aus dem Stand der Technik sind Verfahren zur Herstellung von tragbaren Datenträgern, wie z.B. Chipkarten, Kreditkarten, Bankkarten, Ausweisen, Versicherungskarten, Führerscheinen, etc., bekannt, welche eine farbige und/ oder eine personalisierte Kante aufweisen, die sich zwischen den zwei Außenseiten des tragbaren Datenträgers befindet.
Im Stand der Technik werden zur Herstellung eines tragbaren Datenträgers mit einer farbigen Kante farbige Folien verwendet, die im Inneren des Datenträgers angeordnet sind. Die farbigen Folien werden von beiden Seiten flächig mit einer weißen Farbe bedruckt, was einen aufwändigen Druckprozess und einen hohen Verbrauch an Farbe bedeutet. Ferner entstehen im Bereich des flächigen Drucks Verbundprobleme mit angrenzenden Folien, die nur über entsprechende, zusätzliche Lackierungen und/ oder eine Verwendung von klebstoffbeschichteten Folien gelöst werden können.
US 2014 224 880 AI offenbart eine Bedruckung der Kante. Dazu werden mehrere tragbare Datenträger gestapelt und anschließend die außen liegenden Kanten bedruckt. Der Nachteil ist, dass es sich hierbei um einen aufwändigen Prozess handelt, der nicht standardisiert ist. Darüber hinaus besteht die Gefahr, dass durch den Druckprozess der gestapelten Datenträger nicht nur die Kanten selbst bedruckt werden, sondern, dass Farbe zwischen die im Stapel aneinanderliegenden Datenträger läuft und somit auch die Außenseiten der Datenträger einfärbt. Im Stand der Technik gibt es ferner zur Herstellung von tragbaren Datenträgern mit einer personalisierten Kante den Ansatz, dass tragbare Datenträger verwendet werden, die eine gerade gestanzte Kante aufweisen, wobei die Kante selbst eine ebene Oberfläche aufweist. Die Kante schließt mit den Außenseiten des tragbaren Datenträgers jeweils einen Winkel von ca. 90 Grad ein. Entsprechende Verfahren offenbaren die DE 10 2008 033 461 AI und die EP 1 970 211 AI. Der Nachteil gemäß Stand der Technik ist, dass es sich um sehr aufwändige und nicht standardisierte Prozesse zum Druck und/ oder zur Personalisierung der Kante handelt, für die es keine standardisierten Fertigungsvorrichtungen gibt.
Es ist deshalb Aufgabe der Erfindung eine Lösung für die oben genannten Probleme zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Die Aufgabe der Erfindung wird durch den unabhängigen Anspruch gelöst. Vorteilhafte Ausführungen sind in den abhängigen Ansprüchen beschrieben.
Zur Lösung der Aufgabe offenbart die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Veränderung einer Geometrie einer Kante eines tragbaren Datenträgers, welches sich dadurch auszeichnet, dass die Geometrie der Kante verändert wird, um die Kante und mindestens eine Außenseite des Datenträgers von einer gemeinsamen Seite aus zu bearbeiten, ohne dass eine räumliche Lage des Datenträgers verändert wird. Dies hat den Vorteil, dass standardisierte Verfahren und Vorrichtungen für den Druck und die Personalisierung sowohl auf mindestens einer Außenseite als auch auf der Kante des tragbaren Datenträgers verwendet werden können. Der tragbare Datenträger kann erfindungsgemäß in einer räumlichen Lage so bearbeitet werden, dass sowohl eine Außenseite des Datenträgers als auch die um die Außenseite laufende Kante bearbeitet, z.B. bedruckt und/ oder personalisiert und/ oder markiert, werden kann, ohne dass der Datenträger in seiner räumlichen Lage verändert werden muss, z.B. verschwenkt oder gedreht werden muss, um die Kante zu bearbeiten. Dies hat den großen Vorteil, dass die Herstellung von tragbaren Datenträ- gern mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren schneller und kostengünstiger möglich ist, als mit den Verfahren des Stands der Technik.
Ein vorteilhaftes Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist, dass die Kante bearbeitet wird, indem die Kante mittels eines Druckverfahrens bedruckt wird. Für das Druckverfahren kommt jedes geeignete Druckverfahren in Frage, wie z.B. ein Tampondruckverfahren. Somit kann beispielsweise die Kante bedruckt werden, um einen farbigen Rahmen um mindestens eine Außenseite des Datenträgers zu erzeugen, wobei die bedruckte Kante auch unter dem Begriff Colored Egde bekannt ist.
Ein weiteres vorteilhaftes Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist, dass die Kante bearbeitet wird, indem die Kante mittels eines Laserverfahrens markiert wird. Das Laserverfahren ist ein standardisiertes Verfahren z.B. zur Personalisierung, mittels dem erfindungsgemäß einfach die Kante bearbeitet, z.B. markiert oder personalisiert, werden kann, ohne dass z.B. die Kante in ihrer räumlichen Lage bewegt werden muss, damit ein Laser die Kante z.B. markieren kann. Ferner eignet sich das Laserverfahren besonders zur nachträglichen Bearbeitung der Kante, also nach Abschluß des Herstellungsverfahrens des tragbaren Datenträgers.
Ein weiteres vorteilhaftes Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist, dass die Geometrie der Kante so verändert wird, dass sie schräg und/ oder rund ist in Bezug auf mindestens eine Außenseite des Datenträgers. Die schräge oder runde Geometrie der Kante sind nur zwei beispielhafte Möglichkeiten für die mögliche Geometrie der Kante, um erfindungsgemäß mindestens eine Außenseite und die Kante von einer Seite des tragbaren Datenträgers bearbeiten zu können, ohne dass die räumliche Lage des tragbaren Datenträgers verändert wird und ohne dass spezielle Vorrichtungen und Verfahren verwendet werden müssen, sondern dass herkömliche Vorrichtungen und Verfahren weiter benutzt werden können. Alternativ bietet sich z.B. eine Geometrie an, bei der im Verlauf der Kante um die Außenseiten des tragbaren Datenträgers sich z.B. eine runde in eine schräge Geometrie verändert. Desweiteren muss die Geometrie sich nicht über eine gesamte Höhe des tragbaren Datenträgers erstrecken, sondern kann sich auch nur über einen Teil der Höhe erstrecken. Die Kante selbst kann z.B. mittels eines Stanzverfahrens hergestellt werden. Alternativ kann die Kante auch mittels eines Laserverfahrens oder eines mechanischen Fräsverfahrens ausgebildet werden. Ferner kann die Kante während oder nach dem Herstellungsverfahren des tragbaren Datenträgers her- gestellt werden.
Ein weiteres vorteilhaftes Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist, dass ein Datenträger verwendet wird, der in seinem Inneren mindestens eine weiße Folie und als äußerste Folie auf beiden Außenseiten jeweils eine Overlayfolie aufweist. Die Verwendung dieses Aufbaus hat besonders vorteilhafte Eigenschaften insofern, als eine Kennzeichnung der Kante, z.B. durch ein Bedrucken und/ oder ein Markieren ein hoher Kontrast erzeugt wird, wobei ein Betrachter die Kennzeichnung auf der Kante besonders gut und deutlich erkennt.
Im Folgenden werden vorteilhafte Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung beschrieben. Figur 1 zeigt einen schematischen Aufbau eines kartenförmigen Datenträgers gemäß Stand der Technik im Querschnitt.
Figuren 2, 3, 4 und 5 zeigen jeweils einen Aufbau eines erfindungsgemäßen Datenträgers mit unterschiedlichen geometrischen Kantenformen im Querschnitt.
Figur 1 zeigt einen kartenförmigen Datenträger 2 gemäß Stand der Technik. Der Datenträger 2 umfasst im Inneren des Datenträgers 2 z.B. zwei weisse Folien 4. Die weisse Folie 4 ist eine eingefärbte Folie, wie sie käuflich erwerblich ist. Auf den beiden äußeren Seiten des Verbunds, bestehend aus den beiden weissen Folien 4, ist jeweils eine Overlayfolie 6 und 8 als äußerste Folienschicht angeordnet. Um die umlaufende Kante z.B. zu bedrucken oder zu markieren, ist es notwendig, dass der tragbare Datenträger so bewegt wird, dass z.B. mittels eines Druck- oder Laserverfahrens die Kante bearbeitet werden kann. Dies ist sehr aufwändig und stellt einen Nachteil des Stands der Technik dar, welcher durch die vorliegende Erfindung überwunden wird. Die Figuren 2, 3, 4 und 5 offenbaren jeweils ein Ausführungsbeispiel eines erfindungsgemäßen kartenförmigen Datenträgers 12 mit unterschiedlicher geometrischer Form einer Kante 24. Der erfindungsgemäße Datenträger 12 weist in seinem Inneren zwei weisse Folien 14 auf. Auf einer Oberseite der oberen weissen Folie 14 ist eine erste Overlayfolie 16 angeordnet. Auf einer Unterseite der unteren weissen Folie 14 ist eine zweite Overlayfolie 18 angeordnet. Die geometrische Form der Kante 24 ist in einer gestrichelten Linie dargestellt. Die geometrische Form der Kante 24 kann während und/ oder nach der Herstellung des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 ausgebildet werden. Dazu eignen sich beispielsweise mechanische Verfahren, z.B. ein Fräsverfahren, oder ein Laserverfahren oder jedes andere geeignete Verfahren, um die geometrische Form der Kante 24 zu erzeugen. Die Kante 24 kann z.B. bedruckt werden, um einen farbigen Rand des tragbaren Datenträgers zu erzeugen. Als weitere Alternative kann die Kante 24 z.B. mittels eines Lasers markiert oder personalisiert werden, um z.B. benutzerspezifische Daten auf die Kante 24 des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 zu schreiben. Der erfindungswesentliche Effekt ist, dass durch die geometrische Form der Kante 24 sowohl mindestens eine Außenseite 26, 28 als auch die Kante 24 selbst z.B. bedruckt und/ oder mittels eines Lasers markiert werden können, ohne dass die räumliche Lage des tragbaren Datenträgers verändert werden muss. Ein weiterer Vorteil der Erfindung ist, dass die Kante 24 auch nach der Herstellung des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 hergestellt und bearbeitet, z.B. bedruckt und/ oder mittels eines Lasers markiert oder personalisiert werden kann.
Ein weiterer Vorteil der Erfindung ist, dass die geometrische Form der Kante 24 des Datenträgers 12 einen optischen Eindruck beim Betrachten des Datenträgers 12 hinterläßt, dass wenn ein Betrachter eine Außenseite 26, 28 des Datenträgers 12 betrachtet, dann sieht der Betrachter gleichzeitig die Kante 24 und erhält damit zudem einen optischen Eindruck einer z.B. farbigen und/ oder personalisierten Kante 24 des Datenträgers 12. Für die geometrische Form der Kante 24 gibt es unterschiedliche Möglichkeiten. Beispielhaft sind in den Figuren 2 und 3 eine einseitig abgeschrägte Form, in Figur 4 eine beidseitig abgeschrägte Form und in Figur 5 eine abgerundete Form angegeben. Figur 2 zeigt, wie sich die Kante 24 über die gesamte Höhe des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 und alle Folien des Datenträgers 12 erstreckt und Figur 3 zeigt, wie sich die Kante 24 nur über einen Teil der Folien bzw. der Höhe des Datenträgers 12 erstreckt. Es sind alle anderen geeigneten geometrischen Formen für die Kante 24 ebenfalls möglich. Ferner ist es möglich, dass die Kante 24 in ihrem Verlauf um die erste und zweite Außenseite 26 und 28 die geometrische Form behält oder verändert, dass z.B. eine runde in eine abgeschrägte Form übergeht.

Claims

P a t e n t a n s p r ü c h e
1. Verfahren zur Veränderung einer Geometrie einer Kante (24) eines tragbaren Datenträgers (12), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Geometrie der Kante (24) verändert wird, um die Kante (24) und eine Außenseite (26, 28) des Datenträgers (12) von einer gemeinsamen Seite aus zu bearbeiten, ohne dass eine räumliche Lage des Datenträgers (12) verändert wird.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kante (24) bearbeitet wird, indem die Kante (24) mittels eines Druckverfahrens bedruckt wird.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kante (24) bearbeitet wird, indem die Kante (24) mittels eines Laserverfahrens markiert wird.
4. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche 1 bis 3,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Geometrie der Kante (24) so verändert wird, dass sie schräg und/ oder rund ist in Bezug auf die Außenseite (26, 28) des Datenträgers (12).
5. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche 1 bis 4,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Datenträger (12) verwendet wird, der in seinem Inneren mindestens eine weiße Folie (14) und als äußerste Folie eine Overlayfolie (16, 18) aufweist.
