- bosses 40 are preferably produced by a process of stamping the plate 4 and have a substantially spherical upper surface.

- each boss 40 forms a contact point 40A which has a contact surface of less than 2 mm 2 and preferably less than 1 mm 2 .
- the plate 4 has a thickness of the order of 2 mm and comprises seventeen bosses 40 distributed over the periphery of the plate 4, the bosses 40 having a contact surface with the stops 35 consisting of a circular surface with a diameter of the order of 1 mm.
- the contact surfaces of the bosses 40 are the only zones where the plate 4 is directly in contact with the heating body 3 so that the heat transfer by conduction between the heating body 3 and the plate 4 takes place only by these bosses 40.
- the plate 4 is fixed against the heating body 3 by three screws 7, visible on the figure 5 , one of the screws 7 being placed close to a front point of the sole 2 and the two other screws being placed symmetrically on the edge of the plate 4 in the rear part of the sole 2.
- the plate 4 is not in direct contact with the heating body 3 at the level of the screws 7 in order to limit the heat transfer by conduction in this zone.
- the heating body 3 also comprises ribs 36, 37 which protrude into the steam distribution chamber 34, these ribs 36, 37 being located in a middle zone of the soleplate 2 and coming opposite a middle zone 41 of the plate 4 devoid of opening.
- the height of these ribs 36, 37 is adapted so that they do not come into direct contact with the plate 4 when the plate 4 is assembled on the heating body 3 with the bosses 40 resting against the stops 35, a silicone seal , not shown in the figures, filling the resulting space between the ribs 36, 37 and the plate 4 to provide a mechanical connection between the plate 4 on the heating body 3, in addition to the fixing screws.
- the ribs 36, 37 are constituted by a first rib 36 having a general U-shape and by a second rib 37 having a general V-shape, each of these ribs 36, 37 having a groove forming a cavity into which the silicone seal is injected, this seal covering the ribs 36, 37 over a height of 0.5 mm to come into contact with the plate 4 and contribute to the fixing of the latter.
- the plate 4 comprises, on either side of the central zone 41, openings 42, 43 allowing the vapor to be diffused from the distribution chamber 34 towards the cap 5, the cap 5 comprising, facing each opening 42, 43 at least one steam outlet hole 50 .
- most of the openings 42 of the plate 4 have a diameter corresponding substantially to the diameter of the steam outlet hole 50 of the cap 5 coming opposite so that the plate 4 is in direct contact of the cap 5 in the vicinity of the steam outlet holes 50 and can transmit heat by conduction in this zone.
- the plate 4 may however have a larger surface to locally limit heat transfer by conduction.
- the plate 4 comprises three larger openings 43 located respectively close to the front tip, in the central zone of the sole 2 and close to the rear part of the plate 4, each of these openings supplying several steam outlet holes of the cap 5.
- the iron thus produced has the advantage of having a cap 5 provided with an ironing surface which has a relatively homogeneous temperature of the order of 140° C. when the vaporization chamber 32 is at a temperature of the order 165°C to produce a continuous steam flow of the order of 35 g/min.
- the heat transfer by conduction between the heating body 3 and the plate 4 is limited only to the contact points 40A located at the end of the bosses 40, the latter having a very reduced, the rest of the heat transfer taking place by radiation through the distribution chamber 34.
- the large number of contact points 40A and their small contact surface makes it possible to have excellent control of the heat flow established by conduction between the body heater 3 and the plate 4.
- the large number of contact points 40A also makes it possible to obtain good control of the distance separating the bottom of the cavity forming the distribution chamber 34 and the plate 4, which makes it possible to to have an excellent control of the heat flow established by radiation between the heating body 3 and the plate 4 .
- contact points 40A carried by bosses 40 produced by stamping on plate 4, have the advantage of being very economical to produce. They also have the advantage of being very compact, making it possible to obtain a very compact sole 2 construction.
- the presence of the aluminum plate 4, which has a high thermal conductivity, also makes it possible to contribute to improving the uniformity of the temperature at the level of the ironing surface. Indeed, if a temperature gradient appears between different points of the plate 4, this is quickly attenuated by the heat transfer which is then established in the thickness of the plate 4.
- An iron is thus obtained having a compact construction and economical to implement and having a temperature at the level of the ironing surface that is substantially constant, around 140° C., for ironing all types of textiles without damaging them.
- such a construction makes it possible to maintain the temperature of the heating body in the immediate vicinity of the vaporization chamber around 165° C. which makes it possible to produce a continuous steam despite of the order of 35 g/min sufficient to ensure high ironing efficiency.
- bosses in relief could be made by molding, the latter being able to be made on the heating body rather than on the plate.
- the aluminum plate/stainless steel cap assembly may be replaced by a single aluminum plate, the underside of which directly constitutes the ironing surface.
- the iron may comprise a heating element whose power is limited to 1600 W when the voltage of the domestic electrical network is of the order of 120 V.
