  1. Yarn traversing device (11) for a winding device (4) of a cross-wound package textile machine (1) with a yarn guide (25) connected to a single drive (34) via an endless traction element in the form of a toothed belt (30), with the toothed belt (30) circulating in a largely closed housing (23) of the yarn traversing device (11) and being guided by deflecting wheels (31 and 32) arranged at the side of a traversing area (B) and by a drive wheel (41) connected to the single electric motor drive (34) and where a drive wheel (41) connected to the electric motor drive (34) has a set of teeth (44) that meshes with the teeth (38) of the toothed belt (30),
    characterised in that
    the toothed belt (30) along with its teeth (38) is guided by deflecting wheels (31 and 32) that both have smooth running surface (33).
  2. Yarn traversing device (11) according to claim 1, characterised in that the smooth running surface (33) of the deflecting wheels (31 and 32) are both framed by an upper (39) and lower (43) guide ring.
  3. Yarn traversing device (11) according to claim 1, characterised in that the toothed belt (30) is made of a highly elastic, wear-resistant material.
  4. Yarn traversing device (11) according to claim 1, characterised in that the electric motor drive (34) is designed as a stepper motor controlled in a defined manner and is connected to a control computer (35) via a control line (36).
  5. Yarn traversing device (11) according to claim 1, characterised in that the yarn traversing device (11) is designed as a compact, modular component in the form of a yarn guiding unit (22) that can be completely exchanged if necessary.
