Reducing the pipe wall thicknesses, even for truck coolant coolers, means that the temperature cycling is becoming increasingly important. So far, heat exchangers / coolers have usually failed at high thermal cycling on corner tubes in the tube radius area. By introducing stress-reducing measures in the radii range of the bottom passages, it was possible to reduce the stresses in the radius region of the tubes to such an extent that the heat exchangers now also fail in the tube fold areas weakened by tube undercuts.
The present invention therefore deals with the problem of providing for a flat tube of the generic type an improved or at least one alternative embodiment, which is characterized in particular by an increased thermal cycling.
This problem is solved according to the invention by the subject matter of
In the present invention, the knowledge is used that increased by an increased wall thickness strength and can be reduced by an increased inner radius, the voltages. The flat tube according to the invention, which is suitable for use in a heat exchanger, such as a coolant radiator, has a back and two bent legs, each having an end portion bent in a bending area. The two end portions are connected at their free ends to the back, so that such a folded flat tube has at least two parallel flow channels. An inner surface of a wall of the flat tube has an inner radius in the respective bending region, while an outer surface has an outer radius. According to the invention, the increased wall thickness of the wall of the flat tube in the bending area is now achieved in that the inner radius R I is greater than or equal to the outer radius R A , that is, R I ≥ R A. By means of the thus achieved increase in the wall thickness and the increase in the radius of this particularly under the thermal cycling load area can be increased and thus the thermal shock resistance can be increased.
In an advantageous development of the solution according to the invention, a wall thickness d of the wall in the bending region is less than 16 mm. By the low Wall thickness can be achieved in this area even an optimal heat transfer or heat exchange.
The present invention is further based on the general idea to equip a heat exchanger with at least one such flat tube and thus to create a heat exchanger, which has a significantly increased thermal shock resistance compared to previously known from the prior art heat exchangers.
The present invention is further based on the general idea to provide a method for producing such a flat tube, in which initially a metallic strip material is provided. Of this metallic strip material now two end portions are bent in the respective bending region by about 90 °, wherein an inner surface has an inner radius R I and an outer surface has an outer radius R A and where it can be that R A = R I + w, w = Wall thickness of the flat tube. In a subsequent work step, the bending area is reshaped by massive forming in such a way that R I ≥ R A. This can be achieved, for example, by pressing material from an outer edge into the outer radius area by means of massive forming. This allows R A to be significantly larger than 0.32mm before massive forming (eg R A1 = 0.58mm, w = 0.26mm, with R I = R A1 - w = 0.58mm - 0.26mm = 0.32mm) , R I does not change during massive forming, only R A decreases (eg R A2 = 0.20mm). Due to the large bending radius no undercut is necessary and there are no folds and cracks on the inside. Subsequently, the two legs are bent with the respective end portions arranged thereon such that they lie parallel to a back of the flat tube and the two end portions touch the back at their free ends. Finally, these two end portions are now tightly connected to the back, for example, soldered and thereby completed the flat tube. This can all be done automatically, making one not only cost-effective, but also high quality production of the flat tube is possible.

Bei freiem Biegen gilt für den Innenradius: RI = RA+ W.The following geometric relationship exists between D and R A : R A = 2D. Thus, the bending radius R A is fixed on the outside, because to avoid leaks must apply: R A <0.32 mm. For free bending, the inner radius is R I = R A + W.

According to the invention, the
