Definitions
- the invention relates to a garment, in particular a jacket or trousers, which is preferably a motorcycle jacket or motorcycle pants.
- the prior art discloses garments having a multilayer construction with an outer upper (e.g., leather or textile) and an inner membrane (e.g., Gore-Tex®) that is breathable, windproof, and waterproof.
- an outer upper e.g., leather or textile
- an inner membrane e.g., Gore-Tex®
- Gore-Tex® Gore-Tex®
- the membrane provides waterproofness of the garment.
- the problem is the use of such a garment in warm outdoor temperatures, since the breathability of the membrane depends on the temperature difference between the inside and outside and increases with the size of the temperature difference. At high outside temperatures, therefore, the breathability of the membrane is relatively low, allowing the wearer of the garment to perspire, which is undesirable.
- the membrane can optionally be inserted or removed in the garment.
- the membrane When using the garment in the rain, the membrane is then inserted into the garment, whereas the membrane is removed when the garment is used in high outdoor temperatures and dry air.
- such garments with a removable membrane are impractical because the membrane is relatively expensive removed or used must become.
- the removed membrane must then be carried in a separate pocket on the jacket or in an extra piece of luggage.
- the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a correspondingly improved garment. This object is achieved by an inventive garment according to the main claim.
- the invention includes the general technical teaching to provide a garment with a breathable, windproof and waterproof membrane, wherein the membrane is firmly connected to the garment, but can be adjusted between different positions to provide sufficient water resistance in the rain and still at warm outside temperatures without rain to avoid perspiration of the wearer.
- the garment according to the invention has a chamber for receiving a body part of the wearer of the garment, which may be, for example, the leg or the torso of the wearer.
- the garment according to the invention So, for example, it can be a jacket or pants.
- the garment according to the invention comprises an upper material which encloses the chamber on the outside thereof.
- the upper material may be leather, synthetic leather or a fibrous fabric, wherein the upper material may also have a plurality of different layers which lie one above the other and are firmly connected to one another.
- the garment according to the invention contains a membrane which is breathable, windproof and waterproof, such membranes are known from the prior art and therefore need not be described in detail.
- membranes are sold commercially under the trademark Gore-Tex®.
- the membrane in the garment of the present invention is disposed on the inside of the upper and secured to the top with a rigid membrane portion inside, the solid membrane portion extending over a portion of the circumference of the chamber.
- Gore-Tex® sold commercially under the trademark Gore-Tex®.
- the membrane in the garment of the present invention is disposed on the inside of the upper and secured to the top with a rigid membrane portion inside, the solid membrane portion extending over a portion of the circumference of the chamber.
- the garment according to the invention is now characterized in that the membrane with a loose membrane portion is not attached to the upper material.
- the loose membrane portion may therefore be applied to the inside of the upper or to the inside of the solid membrane portion.
- the loose membrane portion When the loose membrane portion is applied to the inside of the upper, the chamber is surrounded by the membrane over its entire circumference, resulting in good waterproofness.
- the loose membrane portion when the loose membrane portion is applied to the inside of the solid membrane portion, there are two membrane layers one above the other, while there is no membrane portion on the opposite side. On this side without a membrane section, the garment is therefore relatively wind-permeable, which prevents perspiration of the wearer.
- the loose membrane section is thus adjustable between a rain position and a ventilation position. In the rain position, the loose membrane section lies on the inside of the upper, so that the chamber is surrounded by the membrane over its entire circumference. In the ventilation position, however, the loose membrane portion rests against the inside of the fixed membrane portion, so that the chamber is then surrounded by the membrane only over part of its circumference.
- the fixed membrane portion is located at the rear of the garment.
- the garment is preferably exposed to a relative wind during its intended use.
- this wind is generated by the driving speed of the motorcycle.
- the fixed membrane portion is preferably arranged in such a garment on the side of the garment, which faces away from the wind during normal use. This is advantageous because the wind can then penetrate into the garment in the ventilation position of the garment, whereby a sweating of the driver is prevented.
- the loose membrane section lies above the solid membrane section, so that two membrane layers lie above one another, whereby the membrane's respiratory activity is reduced.
- This disturbing effect of the double-layered membrane at this point is compensated for by the fact that the loose membrane section on the side remote from the fixed membrane section has a planar surface with an air-permeable spacer (For example, three-dimensional tissue) is coated. Between the body of the wearer and the loose membrane portion is then the air-permeable spacer (eg, three-dimensional tissue), so that sweating of the wearer is prevented despite the Doppellagmaschine the membrane at this point.
- an air-permeable spacer eg, three-dimensional tissue
- the air-permeable spacer thus allows in the ventilation position of the loose membrane portion an air flow between the body part in the chamber on the one hand and the loose membrane portion on the other.
- loose membrane portion and the solid membrane portion preferably each extend over 30-70%, 40-60%, or substantially 50% of the circumference of the chamber.
- the membrane may be formed integrally with the loose membrane portion and the solid membrane portion.
- the loose membrane portion and the fixed membrane portion are separate parts, which are then joined together.
- the membrane may be a commercial membrane, such as a Gore-Tex® membrane.
- the membrane has a plurality of pores with a large pore density, wherein the pore density is preferably at least 100,000 / cm 2 , 200,000 / cm 2 , 500,000 / cm 2 or 1,000,000 / cm 2 .
- the size of the individual pores is preferably substantially smaller than a drop of water and substantially larger than a water molecule.
- the garment is preferably a motorcycle jacket or motorcycle pants.
- the invention is not limited to these examples in terms of the type of garment, but also in other types of garments realizable.
- FIGS. 1A and 1B show an inventive embodiment of a motorbike pants 1, wherein the two drawings each show a cross-sectional view of a pant leg in the region of a leg 2.
- Figure 1A shows here a so-called rain position, which provides optimum water resistance and is used when driving in the rain.
- FIG. 1B shows, however, a so-called ventilation position, which provides optimal ventilation with reduced water resistance and is used, for example, during rides in summer at high outside temperatures without rain.
- the motorbike pants 1 initially has an upper 3, which may be formed in a conventional manner and may consist for example of leather, fiber fabric or several different layers of different materials.
- the upper 3 includes a chamber 4, which receives the leg 2, which is known per se from the prior art and therefore need not be described in detail.
- a membrane On the inside of the upper 3, a membrane is attached, which consists of a solid membrane portion 5 and a loose membrane portion 6.
- the fixed membrane portion 5 is fixed by means of an adhesive layer 7 on the inside of the upper 3 and that on a rear side 8 of the motor pants 1.
- the solid membrane portion 5 extends approximately over half of the circumference of the chamber. 4
- the adhesive layer 7 there is also the possibility that an air layer is located between the fixed membrane section 5 and the inside of the upper material 3.
- the fixed membrane section 5 can therefore also be fastened in a different manner to the upper 3, for example by selective stitching.
- the loose membrane portion 6 is integrally connected to the fixed membrane portion 5 and located at a front side It is important that the loose membrane portion 6 is not connected to the upper 3.
- the loose membrane portion 6 can therefore occupy different positions, namely on the one hand, the rain position shown in Figure 1A and in FIG. 1B illustrated ventilation position.
- the loose membrane section 6 is therefore coated on its front side with an air-permeable spacer 10.
- the air-permeable spacer 10 allows at the rear of the leg 2 an air flow between the leg 2 and the front of the folded back loose membrane portion. 6
- FIGS. 2A and 2B are largely consistent with that described above and in the Figures 1A and 1B illustrated embodiments, so reference is made to avoid repetition of the above description, with corresponding details with the same reference numerals are marked with an apostrophe.
- a peculiarity of this embodiment is that the garment is a motorcycle jacket 1 '. Otherwise, this embodiment is consistent with the embodiment described above.
- the invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments described above. Rather, a variety of variants and modifications are possible, which also make use of the inventive concept and therefore fall within the scope defined in the appended claims.

Description
The invention relates to a garment, in particular a jacket or trousers, which is preferably a motorcycle jacket or motorcycle pants.
The prior art discloses garments having a multilayer construction with an outer upper (e.g., leather or textile) and an inner membrane (e.g., Gore-Tex®) that is breathable, windproof, and waterproof. When using such a garment in the rain, the membrane provides waterproofness of the garment. However, the problem is the use of such a garment in warm outdoor temperatures, since the breathability of the membrane depends on the temperature difference between the inside and outside and increases with the size of the temperature difference. At high outside temperatures, therefore, the breathability of the membrane is relatively low, allowing the wearer of the garment to perspire, which is undesirable.
To solve this problem garments are known in which the membrane can optionally be inserted or removed in the garment. When using the garment in the rain, the membrane is then inserted into the garment, whereas the membrane is removed when the garment is used in high outdoor temperatures and dry air. However, such garments with a removable membrane are impractical because the membrane is relatively expensive removed or used must become. In addition, the removed membrane must then be carried in a separate pocket on the jacket or in an extra piece of luggage.
The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a correspondingly improved garment. This object is achieved by an inventive garment according to the main claim.
The invention includes the general technical teaching to provide a garment with a breathable, windproof and waterproof membrane, wherein the membrane is firmly connected to the garment, but can be adjusted between different positions to provide sufficient water resistance in the rain and still at warm outside temperatures without rain to avoid perspiration of the wearer.
The garment according to the invention has a chamber for receiving a body part of the wearer of the garment, which may be, for example, the leg or the torso of the wearer. The garment according to the invention So, for example, it can be a jacket or pants.
In addition, the garment according to the invention comprises an upper material which encloses the chamber on the outside thereof. For example, the upper material may be leather, synthetic leather or a fibrous fabric, wherein the upper material may also have a plurality of different layers which lie one above the other and are firmly connected to one another.
Furthermore, the garment according to the invention contains a membrane which is breathable, windproof and waterproof, such membranes are known from the prior art and therefore need not be described in detail. For example, such membranes are sold commercially under the trademark Gore-Tex®.
The membrane in the garment of the present invention is disposed on the inside of the upper and secured to the top with a rigid membrane portion inside, the solid membrane portion extending over a portion of the circumference of the chamber.
The garment according to the invention is now characterized in that the membrane with a loose membrane portion is not attached to the upper material.
The loose membrane portion may therefore be applied to the inside of the upper or to the inside of the solid membrane portion. When the loose membrane portion is applied to the inside of the upper, the chamber is surrounded by the membrane over its entire circumference, resulting in good waterproofness. In contrast, when the loose membrane portion is applied to the inside of the solid membrane portion, there are two membrane layers one above the other, while there is no membrane portion on the opposite side. On this side without a membrane section, the garment is therefore relatively wind-permeable, which prevents perspiration of the wearer.
The loose membrane section is thus adjustable between a rain position and a ventilation position.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the fixed membrane portion is located at the rear of the garment. For a jacket, this means that the fixed membrane section is in the back of the jacket. For a pair of pants, on the other hand, this means that the fixed membrane section is located on the back of the leg.
Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the garment is preferably exposed to a relative wind during its intended use. In a motorcycle jacket or a motorcycle pants, this wind is generated by the driving speed of the motorcycle. The fixed membrane portion is preferably arranged in such a garment on the side of the garment, which faces away from the wind during normal use. This is advantageous because the wind can then penetrate into the garment in the ventilation position of the garment, whereby a sweating of the driver is prevented.
It has already been mentioned above that, in the ventilation position, the loose membrane section lies above the solid membrane section, so that two membrane layers lie above one another, whereby the membrane's respiratory activity is reduced. This disturbing effect of the double-layered membrane at this point is compensated for by the fact that the loose membrane section on the side remote from the fixed membrane section has a planar surface with an air-permeable spacer (For example, three-dimensional tissue) is coated. Between the body of the wearer and the loose membrane portion is then the air-permeable spacer (eg, three-dimensional tissue), so that sweating of the wearer is prevented despite the Doppellagigkeit the membrane at this point.
The air-permeable spacer thus allows in the ventilation position of the loose membrane portion an air flow between the body part in the chamber on the one hand and the loose membrane portion on the other.
It should also be noted that the loose membrane portion and the solid membrane portion preferably each extend over 30-70%, 40-60%, or substantially 50% of the circumference of the chamber.
It should also be noted that the membrane may be formed integrally with the loose membrane portion and the solid membrane portion. However, there is also the alternative possibility that the loose membrane portion and the fixed membrane portion are separate parts, which are then joined together.
It has already been briefly mentioned above that the membrane may be a commercial membrane, such as a Gore-Tex® membrane. To achieve sufficient breathability, the membrane has a plurality of pores with a large pore density, wherein the pore density is preferably at least 100,000 / cm 2 , 200,000 / cm 2 , 500,000 / cm 2 or 1,000,000 / cm 2 . The size of the individual pores is preferably substantially smaller than a drop of water and substantially larger than a water molecule.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the garment is preferably a motorcycle jacket or motorcycle pants. However, the invention is not limited to these examples in terms of the type of garment, but also in other types of garments realizable.
