Description

The invention relates to a fire protection and smoke extraction device for ventilation and smoke extraction systems, comprising at least one shut-off element pivotably arranged in a housing, this housing being insertable into a ventilation or smoke extraction duct and seals being assigned to the shut-off element in its closed position which closes the cross section of the housing , each of which has at least one sealing section made of intumescent material, which is arranged in the longitudinal center plane of the shut-off element in its closed position.

Fire protection systems with shut-off elements are known in the event of a fire. They close a ventilation duct that runs through a wall, for example, to prevent sparks, smoke and heat from being transferred to an adjacent room. Smoke extraction devices with shut-off elements are also known.

These can normally be closed, but in the event of a smoke extraction they open despite fire exposure to enable smoke extraction via smoke extraction ducts or pipes.

The invention relates to a combined fire protection and smoke extraction device, the shut-off element of which closes a ventilation or smoke extraction duct against the spread of fire and the shut-off element of which can also be opened to allow smoke to pass through. According to the standards, such a fire protection and smoke extraction device can have to be closed in the event of a fire and, after this closure, can be opened again for an assumed smoke extraction event. The seals of the fire protection and smoke extraction system must ensure a tight closure of the ventilation or smoke extraction system when it is shut off; however, when it is opened or reopened, they must not hinder the movement of the shut-off element.

A fire protection device according to the preamble of claim 1 is in the DE 103 50 872 A1 shown. One-sided stops are provided there for the flap leaf to limit its pivoting movement. A fire damper is also still available EP 0 512 414 A2 known.

The invention is based on the object of showing a fire protection and smoke extraction device mentioned at the beginning, which improves both a tight barrier in the event of a fire and enables opening and reopening to dissipate smoke.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a fire protection and smoke extraction device according to claim 1, in which the sealing section made of intumescent material is assigned a sealing section made of non-intumescent material on both sides, the sealing sections being arranged in recesses in a wall of the housing and the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material the sealing section made of intumescent material Enclose each in such a way that heat cannot directly affect the intumescent material.

In the fire protection and smoke extraction device according to the invention, at least one sealing section made of intumescent material is used for the seal. Such a material expands at higher temperatures and can therefore completely fill and seal a gap between the housing wall and the shut-off element. This material has therefore proven itself in fire protection systems with shut-off elements.

The fire protection device according to the invention is also a smoke extraction device, so that the shut-off element can also be opened to remove smoke in the event of a fire in order to comply with the corresponding, particularly European, standards. The intumescent material must not hinder this opening. For this purpose, the invention proposes that the intumescent material be temporarily or for a required period of time protected from attack by heat causing its expansion is preferably protected. In direct contact, other sealing sections made of non-intumescent material are provided on both sides of the sealing section made of intumescent material, which initially protect the intumescent material against the attack of heat. This is particularly the case when the pivotable shut-off element is in its closed position. It is then assigned to a section of the wall of the housing. The seals are also arranged in this area. The sealing section made of intumescent material is located in the longitudinal center plane of the shut-off element in its closed position; the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material are arranged flanking each longitudinal side of this sealing section. In this way, the sealing section is encased in intumescent material, so that heat acting cannot directly impact this intumescent material.

In this way, the fire protection and smoke extraction device according to the invention can withstand fire attacks for a period of time solely due to the functionality of the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material. The sealing sections do not change to such an extent that the shut-off element cannot be opened or reopened. The shut-off element can therefore still be opened for a later smoke extraction process.

If the fire protection and smoke extraction device according to the invention is not used for the smoke extraction process, it is and/or remains closed and is then exposed to more fire. After a period of time required for the shut-off element to be opened, the seals made of non-intumescent material gradually lose their heat-insulating and sealing effect due to the increase in temperature. This gradually reduces the protection of this sealing section made of non-intumescent material. Increased heat is transferred to the intumescent material, so that it then reacts and expands. Then The shut-off element is fixed with the intumescent material and a tight and stable fire protection effect is created.

According to the invention it is provided that the sealing sections are arranged in recesses in a wall of the housing. Both the sealing section made of intumescent material and the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material can be arranged in depressions. The free internal cross section of the housing is thereby expanded; in particular, the pivoting movement of the shut-off element is not hindered by sections protruding into the pivoting path.

Furthermore, it can be provided that a larger depression is provided for the sealing section made of intumescent material than at least one depression for the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material. In this design, the sealing section made of intumescent material is a little further away from the inner cross section of the housing, which can improve its insulation against heat attack. In this arrangement, a cavity is formed above the sealing section made of intumescent material, which allows the intumescent material to expand somewhat despite the shielding by the sealing sections made of non-intumescent material without hindering the mobility of the shut-off element. Only when the heat attack continues does the intumescent material expand to such an extent that it bridges this cavity and rests against the shut-off element.

According to another development of the invention, it can be provided that a seal made of non-intumescent material protrudes into the pivoting path of the shut-off element in the area of its closed position. This protruding seal can form a stop for the shut-off element. Since the protruding seal protrudes into the pivoting path in the area of the closed position of the shut-off element, the shut-off element is in its closed position when it stops against the protruding seal. That's it for the rest Seal made of non-intumescent material and assigned to the seal made of intumescent material.

The sealing sections provided can each be designed in the form of strips. Such strips can be arranged next to each other; a strip made of intumescent material is flanked on both sides by a strip made of non-intumescent material.

The seals made of non-intumescent material can be made of mineral materials, glass fiber or silicates or even combinations of these materials.

The fire protection and smoke extraction device according to each of the two exemplary embodiments has a cuboid housing 1 into which a shut-off element 2 is pivotally inserted. The outside of the housing 1 is covered with a surrounding frame 3, which is placed on the walls 4 of the housing 1.

The sectional views in Figure 4 and in Figure 9 show 4 strip-shaped sealing sections on the inside of a housing wall in the open position of the shut-off element 2. There are three sealing sections in each case, which are shown in detail in the enlarged illustrations Figure 5 and Figure 10 are explained.

In Figure 5 the longitudinal center plane of the shut-off element 2 is illustrated by a dashed line 5. A first sealing section 8 made of intumescent material is arranged in this longitudinal center plane. This seal section 8 made of intumescent material is enclosed on each of its long sides by a sealing section 7 made of non-intumescent material.

In the first exemplary embodiment Figures 1 to 5 the sealing sections 8, 7 are arranged in a recess in the wall 4, with the largest recess being provided for the sealing section 8 made of intumescent material. A cavity 6 is provided above the sealing section 8 made of intumescent material.

In the second exemplary embodiment in Figures 6 to 10 In turn, recesses are provided in the wall 4 of the housing 1 for the sealing sections. A first sealing section 7 made of non-intumescent material and the sealing section 8 made of intumescent material are arranged in a recess, a second sealing section 7 made of non-intumescent material is arranged in a smaller recess. This section 7 made of non-intumescent material also projects further into the interior of the housing 1, so this section 7 forms a stop for the pivoting movement of the shut-off element 2. In this exemplary embodiment, too, a cavity 6 is provided above the section 8 made of intumescent material.

The walls 4 of the housing 1 preferably consist of a silicate material. The circumferential frame placed on the walls 4 has a metallic profile 9 in its interior, which is covered with silicate sections 10.
