Description

Domaine technique de l'inventionTechnical field of the invention

The invention relates to a safety blocker for climbing rope, comprising a U-shaped stirrup equipped with two lateral wings delimiting an internal space for the passage of the rope, and a pinned stop surface against which is blocked the rope in case of fall, the two wings being perforated by two orifices disposed facing each other, and each having an inclined ramp ridge serving as a guide to a carabiner through the two orifices.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

A known blocker of the kind mentioned is described in the document US 4667772 . A carabiner crosses the two openwork wings of the blocker, and is generally connected by a lanyard to the user's shoulder belt to ensure progression when climbing along a rope attached upstream. On a fixed rope, nothing starts the blocking in the absence of action of the user, to avoid any risk of non-blocking by free sliding of the blocker down, we can initiate the blocking by a specific gesture that consists pull the bottom of the carabiner towards the bottom of the orifices, which keeps the blocker against the rope, which then comes into contact with the pimple stop surface. In case of panic of the user during a fall, if the latter was to tense on the stirrup of the blocker, the blocking of the rope would be insufficient or delayed. The safety of the user is not automatic, because it depends on the manual action of continuously pulling the karabiner down to initiate the pre-lock.

The document DE 102010023264 also relates to a blocker of the same type as before, but the stirrup is not monoblock, and comprises a pinned stop surface that can pivot elastically relative to the lateral wings of the stirrup according to the diameter of the rope which is used. During each lock, the carabiner is initially in the up position, and slides down. This results in a loss of efficiency when climbing on a rope. In addition, no means is provided to be able to slide the blocker down.

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

The object of the invention is to provide a U-shaped stirrup clamp associated with a carabiner to ensure the blocking without delay in case of a fall, regardless of the diameter of the rope, and without requiring any particular manual action.

The blocker according to the invention is characterized in that the stirrup comprises a movable control part biased by a spring towards an active actuation position of the carabiner along the ramp for the coming into contact of the rope against the surface of the carabiner. stopping, so as to obtain a first state ready to block when climbing rope, and a second state of locking of the stirrup on the rope during a fall.

The first state ready to lock is automatically obtained thanks to the presence of the spring acting on the carabiner to initiate the pre-lock. The setting of the spring is chosen so that the rope slightly touches the pins of the stop surface without hindering the rope ascending. In the first state ready to block, the The pressure exerted by the rope on the stop surface is significantly lower than that exerted in the second blocking state.

According to a preferred embodiment, the control part is articulated about an axis provided at the upper part of the stirrup, said part being movable in a limited pivoting movement between the active position resting on the top of the caliper, and an inactive position spaced from the caliper. The control part has at least one lateral extension extending parallel to the outside of the corresponding wing, to drive the carabiner during the passage to the active position.

According to a characteristic of the invention, the spring used for the pre-locking is a compression spring interposed between a stud of the stirrup and a curved nose of the control part. It is also possible to replace it with a torsion spring mounted on the pivot axis of the control part.

According to another characteristic, the control part is provided with a gripper able to drive it to the inactive position by a deliberate manual action allowing a controlled descent movement along the rope. This action causes the compression of the spring.

Description d'un mode particulier de réalisationDescription of a particular embodiment

At the bottom of the stirrup 12, the two wings 13, 14 are connected to one another by a stop surface 16 equipped with pins 17.

The pins 17 are distributed over a large part of the stop surface 16 while being slightly inclined downwards. The angle of inclination of the pins 17 is arranged to allow the sliding of the blocker 10 without damaging the sheath of the rope 11 in the direction of the ascent.

The two wings 13, 14 side have identical structures, being perforated by two orifices 18 arranged opposite one another. In the event of a fall of the user, the rope 11 is locked against the stop surface 16 by means of a carabiner 19 passing through the two orifices 18 ( figure 1 ), and acting under pressure on the rope 11 under the action of the weight of the user.

The orifice 18 of each wing 13, 14 is delimited by a closed contour, comprising a first vertical edge 20 and a second oblique edge 21 joined to each other at the bottom by a V-shaped recess 22, by making an acute angle. The second edge 21 forms an inclined guide ramp of the carabiner 19. A third edge 23 connects the two other edges 20, 21 to the enlarged upper part to close the contour.

According to the invention, the blocker 10 further comprises a control member 24 articulated about an axis 25 provided at the top of the fixed bracket 12, near the stop surface 16. This control part 24 in the form of jumper can move in a limited pivoting motion, which can occupy an inactive position ( Figures 2 to 4 ) or an active position ( Figures 5 to 7 ).

The U-shaped rider of the piece 24 has for this purpose two extensions 26, 27 lateral flanking vertically low play the upper part of the wings 13, 14, allowing the passage of the rope 11 in the central portion. The spacing between the two extensions 26, 27 of the control part 24 is thus slightly greater than that of the wings 13, 14 of the stirrup 12. Each extension 26, 27 is provided with a flange 28, 29 at right angle pressing on the top of the respective wings 13, 14 when the rider is in the active position ( figure 5 ). In this active position, the bottom of the extensions 26, 27 partially closes the upper part of the orifices 18. The lower edge of each extension 26, 27 thus constitutes a means of actuation of the carabiner 19 during the passage of the jumper to the active position.

Dans la position inactive, le mousqueton 19 n'est pas sollicité par la pièce de commande 24.A spring 30 cooperates with the control part 24 to urge it towards the active position of actuation of the carabiner 19 causing the rope 11 to come into contact with the stop surface 16. In the example of the figures 2 and 5 , the spring 30 is a compression spring, which is interposed between a stud 31 of the stirrup 12 and a beak 32 curved of the control part 24. The end of the spout 32 moves along a slightly concave guide surface 33 formed on a protrusion 34 of the stirrup 12. In FIG. inactive position, the compression spring 30 is in the compressed state ( figure 2 ), and in the relaxed state ( figure 5 ) in the active position of the control part 24. In the inactive position, the carabiner 19 is not stressed by the control part 24.

It is clear that any other type of spring can be used, in particular a torsion spring mounted on the axis 25, or any elastic element intended to act on the carabiner 19.

For the passage to the active position of the figure 5 it is sufficient to release the spring 30, but it is also possible to press the control part 24 in the direction of the arrow F. The extensions 26, 27 push the carabiner 19 down, and the reaction of this last on the ramp of the second edge 21 of the wings 13, 14 biases the carabiner 19 against the rope 11, which bears against the stop surface 16. The setting of the spring 30 brings the rope against the stop surface 16 , without causing definitive blocking of the blocker. This results in a first state "ready to block" with a pre-locking primer, which allows the rope to rise, and which allows in case of a fall, to obtain effective blocking of the blocker 10 on the rope 11, and without delay. If the user holds the rope above the stirrup 12 of the blocker 10, his hand will press the control part 24, which confirms the first state "ready to block". The expansion of the spring 30 also acts in the direction of the arrow F, and allows to obtain the same position without pressing the top of the control part 24.

The control part 24 is additionally provided with a gripper 35 able to drive it to the inactive position ( figure 2 ) by a voluntary manual action inhibiting the blockage. It is then possible to start a controlled descent movement along the rope.

Instead of being pivotable, the part can be actuated in translation. Instead of having a double jumper with two extensions 26, 27 side, the room could be equipped with a single extension acting on one side on the carabiner 19.

The control part 24 may be of plastic or metal material.
The blocker according to the invention can be used in climbing, speleology and work at height.

A safety ascender for ascending on a rope, comprising a U-shaped clamp (12) equipped with two lateral wings (13, 14) delineating an internal space (15) for passage of the rope (11), and with a spiked arresting surface (16) against which the rope (11) is blocked in case of a fall, the two wings (13, 14) being provided with two openings (18) arranged facing one another and each having an edge (21) in the form of an inclined ramp performing guiding of a karabiner (19) passing through the two openings (18),
characterized in that the clamp (12) comprises a mobile control part (24) biased by a spring (30) to an active actuation position of the karabiner (19) along the ramp for the rope (11) to come into contact against the arresting surface (16) so as to obtain a first ready-to-block state when ascending on the rope, and a second blocking state of the clamp (12) on the rope (11) in the event of a fall.
  2. The ascender according to claim 1, characterized in that the spring (30) is configured to trigger pre-blocking of the rope (11) in the first ready-to-block state.
  3. The ascender according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the control part (24) is articulated around a pin (25) provided at the top part of the clamp (12), said part being movable with a limited swivelling movement between the active position pressing on the top of the clamp (12) and an inactive position away from the clamp (12).
  4. The ascender according to claim 3, characterized in that the control part (24) comprises at least one lateral extension (26, 27) extending in parallel manner outside the corresponding wing (13, 14) to drive the karabiner (19) when movement takes place to the active position.
  5. The ascender according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the spring (30) is a compression spring fitted between a stud of the clamp (12) and a curved nose (32) of the control part (24).
  6. The ascender according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the spring (30) is a torsion spring fitted on the swivel-pin (25) of the control part (24).
  7. The ascender according to claim 3, characterized in that the control part (24) is provided with a gripper (35) designed to drive it to the inactive position by a deliberate manual action allowing a controlled descent movement along the rope.
