Description

The present invention relates to sanitary articles, in particular toilets and urinals with bowls with flushing rim, which are easy to clean, and a cleaning method.

Conventional toilet bowls often have a rim on the top of the bowl, on the underside of which flushing water escapes. The maintenance cleaning of such toilets is often done by attaching a toilet basket containing a cleaning block ("rim block") to the edge of the toilet bowl in such a way that the cleaning block is flushed with water with each flushing process, with cleaning agents and fragrances being released and the The cleaning block gradually dissolves. Maintenance cleaning can often also be done via the water tank. As far as the water tanks are accessible, cleaning agents in lump form can be added to the water tank.

The detergents gradually dissolve in the cistern over a large number of wash cycles and thus provide wash water containing cleaning agents and / or fragrances.

Toilets with a flushing rim have the disadvantage, however, that contaminants from the toilet get into / to the flushing rim and into the rear area of the toilet under the porcelain wall section serving as a baffle plate and these areas cannot be cleaned or only insufficiently cleaned with a small brush.

Furthermore, toilets and urinals are known which have neither an accessible water tank nor a toilet bowl rim, on the underside of which flushing water escapes. In such rimless bowls, flushing takes place in that the bowl is wetted with water with a defined flow profile. The rinsing water is generally directed in such a way that the water from the rinsing water supply line impacts against the rear side of a porcelain wall section which extends at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the supply line. The wall section is part of the toilet bowl and, in conjunction with other guide elements that form open flow channels, causes the flushing water to exit the bowl laterally and on the underside of the wall section through several openings or gaps. The wall, the guide elements and the bowl are designed in such a way that the rinsing water completely wets the inner surface of the bowl to be cleaned as a result of the impact on the wall section, the shape of the guide elements and the shape of the bowl inner wall. The rinse water is then fed to the drain line through the outlet in the bowl.

Rimless toilets of this type are sold, for example, by the company Keramag under the brands "Renova Nr. 1", "4U" or "iCon", by the company Toto under the brand "Tornado Flush" or by the company Mansfield under the brand "Cascade" .

Since these toilets do not have a flushing rim, the soiling known from the prior art does not occur on / in the flushing rim. The rimless toilet bowl is rather up to the small area of the flushing water outlet without undercuts or the like, so that dirt - with the exception of the outlet area for the flushing water - is easily accessible and can be easily removed with a conventional toilet brush.

In such toilets and urinals with rimless bowls, however, soiling, for example from limescale and / or urine scale and decay, algae or fungi, occurs in the area of the outlet openings and crevices, which are very difficult or impossible to remove.

The flow profiles are changed by the formation of limescale and / or urine scale and decay, algae or fungi, i.e. there is a risk that the entire pool will no longer be flooded with flushing water. In the worst case, even the openings and crevices are clogged with limestone and / or urine scale and decay, algae or fungi.

Often only partial cleaning in the area of the openings and crevices to the outlet of the rinsing water is only possible by hand as part of a one-time cleaning, which is perceived by the consumer as extremely unhygienic, because it is necessary to bend down towards the inside of the bowl and then with a small brush to scrub the often inaccessible openings and crevices within the reach of the brush.

In the area of institutional hygiene such as hospitals, kindergartens or old people's homes, such cleaning by hand, which also does not lead to the desired result, is completely ruled out.

If, analogously to the toilet basket, a cleaning agent would be added to the defined flow profile in a container or by gluing, for example with the one in the WO 2009/106220 means described, fasten, the entire flow profile would be disturbed and thus prevented proper rinsing of the bowl.

From the DE 198 51 754 C2 is a dosing device for dispensing a flushing water additive to a flushing water distributor intended for installation in a flushing rim of toilets or urinals known, with a housing provided with the connection piece for the water supply, the housing having a tank for receiving a flushing water additive. Such metering devices are intended for attachment to a toilet with a rim and can be retrofitted in such a way that the housing is placed below the rim and adjacent to the bowl wall.

During use, however, there is considerable soiling and the formation of urine stone between the bowl wall and the outer wall of the dispenser. This dirt is very difficult to remove. The fact that the device is attached to the edge also makes cleaning the edge more difficult.

From the DE 203 12 102 U1 A cleaning system for toilets / urinals is known in which one or more fillable containers are integrated into the porcelain of the toilet / urinal next to the flushing water pipe and are connected to the flushing water pipe so that the flushing water and the container contents can be mixed.

The disadvantage of these fillable containers is that they cannot be cleaned or can only be cleaned with great difficulty. As a result, the container gradually grows with a bacterial lawn, especially when cleaning agents are filled into the container that promote the growth of bacteria.

From the GB 826 603 a toilet bowl is known which has a flushing rim, with a container being formed in the wall of the bowl next to the water inlet, the outlet openings of which are in communication with the bowl. The container is used to hold cleaning agents. In this toilet too, the outlet openings gradually become blocked with urine stone and are very difficult to clean.

The DE 10 2005 029 609 A1 teaches a flushing water duct for a toilet bowl with flushing rim, which has a housing with a connecting piece for connection to the connecting pipe and openings extending laterally and on the underside for the outlet of the flushing water. The housing is in the edge of the bowl, which is in the rear area has a recess, installed and the connection piece is firmly connected to the connection pipe. A dispensing device for dispensing active ingredients as an additive for the rinse water is provided above the housing and is exchangeable.

The problem with this flushing water flow is that splashes get into the housing through the downwardly directed openings, the housing gradually becomes clogged and cannot be cleaned.

The EP 2 341 196 B1 teaches a mixing assembly integrally molded within the sanitary bowl having an inlet conduit and a plurality of drain conduits extending between the mixing chamber and the bowl. A holder for a cleaning agent is located in the mixing arrangement. A disadvantage of this mixing arrangement is that the openings of the drainage lines directed in the direction of the bowl gradually become clogged by splashes from the toilet bowl with urine stone or dirt and cannot be cleaned.

From the U.S. 2,164,321 a toilet with flushing rim and flushing rim channel parts, which serve both as a channel part and for sitting, and which are arranged on the right and left side of the flushing rim, is known.

The object of the present invention is to improve the cleaning of sanitary objects with flushing rims such as toilets and urinals in the area of the openings or gaps protruding into the bowl for the flow of the flushing water and to prevent soiling in this area.

This object is achieved by a sanitary article according to claim 1 and a cleaning method according to claim 7.

The fact that the wall element with the openings, which are easily soiled by the formation of urine scale and gradually "grow" and destroy the entire flow profile, is not an area of the toilet bowl according to the invention, but - as a single part - can be completely removed from the position of use for cleaning purposes , a simple cleaning, in particular the openings of the wall element, is possible, wherein the wall element is then fastened again in the bowl in the position of use or can be replaced by a new one.

The wall element according to the invention can be removed from the bowl as a part or a piece. The wall element is preferably formed in one piece and, in a further variant, in particular in one piece.

In the position of use, ie when the wall element is inserted into the bowl and the side of the wall element pointing into the middle of the bowl forms a circumferential, almost completely smooth surface with the inside of the bowl, the transition between the lateral edges of the wall element and the laterally adjoining edges of the upper area of the inner surface of the toilet bowl almost continuously. In other words, the shape of the inside of the toilet bowl with wall element corresponds to the shape of the inside of a conventional toilet, only the wall element is designed as a removable part which can be removed as such from the position of use.

The toilet is therefore easy to clean in the entire bowl area like a conventional toilet. However, the removable wall element opens up a further possibility of cleaning in the area of the openings, which is not known from conventional toilets. The area of the inflow, in which, as explained later, cleaning agents can also be positioned, can also be easily cleaned after removing the wall element and any bacterial lawn can be removed.

Removing the wall element and openings is much easier and more hygienic than the previously - if at all - practiced option for toilets with flushing rim with dirty openings integrated in the ceramic, namely kneeling down and using a small brush to drive into the dirty openings and these as far as the brush at all reaches into the opening to clean.

"Removable upwards" is understood not only to be completely vertical, but also to be taken at an angle from above (e.g. at an angle of 70 ° to 90 ° to the horizontal).

The openings in the wall element serve for the direct passage of the rinsing water into the bowl or the bowl rim and not for filling another vessel.

With the wall element removed from the bowl, all external surfaces are accessible for cleaning.

There are various variants for positively locking the removable wall element, which is U-shaped, in the bowl.

Since the U-shaped wall element according to the invention corresponds in some but not all features with the wall element not according to the invention, the L-shaped wall element not according to the invention is first described below.

In the toilet with flushing rim, it is possible to provide an opening in the bowl with means for a form-fitting fastening, the opening being at the place where the wall section is usually located and the flushing rim piece adjoining it upwards. In a variant not according to the invention, an L-shaped wall element with a horizontal plate can be pushed into this opening from above so that the inside of the bowl is on the right and left of the wall section and the top of the horizontal plate is on the top of the plate on the right and left right and left adjoining top of the flushing rim.

If the wall element is L-shaped in the variant not according to the invention, the long leg of the L corresponds to the previously described vertically extending wall element, at the upper edge of which is a rectangular plate (short leg of the L), which in turn covers the opening in the rim or in the rim of the rimless toilet.

The width of the wall element depends on the diameter of the connecting pipe. The width should at least correspond to the width of the connecting pipe. The wall element is preferably between 3 and 30 cm, preferably between 8 and 25 cm and particularly preferably between 15 and 20 cm wide.

Because the wall element can be completely removed from the toilet and reinserted, a holder can be attached to the side of the wall element that does not point in the direction of the inside of the bowl and can be used to store lumpy, gel-like or liquid cleaning agents.

After the wall element can be removed from the position of use, the rear area of the wall element with the holder is also accessible, i.e. that - for example when removing the wall element for cleaning purposes - a new cleaning agent can be inserted into the holder at the same time.

According to the invention, the wall element is U-shaped, one leg forms the baffle plate described above, the bottom of the U corresponds to the leg of the L described above and the other leg of the U serves to reach over the outer edge of the toilet and serve as an abutment. In the invention, which is suitable for free-standing toilets and urinals, the positive connection with the bowl is achieved by the U-profile attached to the bowl, so that, depending on the configuration, the lateral groove connections described below can be omitted.

In a variant of the U-shaped wall element, the right and left sides of the wall element with the bowl are also each over a groove connection connectable. The groove connection can for example be a tongue and groove connection, the groove being provided on the bowl and the tongue being provided on the side of the wall element or vice versa.

In a further variant of the U-shaped wall element, the wall element has two molded retaining lips on the side, each of which can be fastened in a corresponding groove in the bowl. The wall element is pushed into the groove in the bowl from above. If the wall element is removed for cleaning purposes, the groove is then also accessible for cleaning purposes.

A dovetail connection between the U-shaped wall element and the bowl is also possible.

It is also possible that the other leg of the U is designed in the form of two individual legs or pins which engage in corresponding vertical bores in the bowl. This variant is particularly suitable for toilets attached to the wall.

The U-shaped wall element can also be designed as a disposable item, preferably with an integrated cleaning agent, which can then be filled or exchanged like a normal toilet basket during cleaning.

The cleaning agent can also be introduced directly into the connection pipe for the water supply without additional fastening means, it also being possible to provide a special device for dosing into the pipe (pipe-in-pipe system).

In addition, a special metering device such as a pump with a battery can be inserted into the pipe.

Such a cleaning agent located in the area of the inlet of the rinsing water in the direction of flow in front of the bowl and the outlet openings and also generally in front of the guide elements does not have a disadvantageous effect on the flow profile in the bowl. It dissolves each flushing process partially in the water located in the inlet and thus provides cleaning and / or scenting agents in the flushing water, as is also known, for example, with the cleaning products that are added to the toilet boxes.

Alternatively, the cleaning agent can also be glued to the side of the wall element directed in the direction of the rinsing water inlet, either adhesive viscous cleaning agents, for example from the WO99 / 66017 , of the EP1 325 103 B1 , of the EP 1 318 191 B1 or the DE 10 2004 056 554 A1 known can be used. Toilet detergents in the form of bars can also be used using special adhesive pastes from the WO 2009106220 A1 are known to be glued to the baffle side of the wall element.

In a further variant of the invention, at least a partial area of the wall element is transparent or has a viewing window so that the consumer can check whether cleaning agent has to be refilled.

It goes without saying that the wall element has guide surfaces on the side facing in the direction of the connecting pipe and / or openings on the side and / or below, which guide and distribute the water in the desired area of the bowl.

In this way, the present invention not only enables sanitary items to be cleaned easily in the area of the openings, but also enables, for the first time, a simplified cleaning of toilets with a rim without the flow profile in the bowl being impaired.

The wall element according to the invention can be made of different materials such as plastic, stainless steel, glass or ceramic.

It is also possible to manufacture the wall element from plastic and then to cover it with ceramic or other materials.

Plastic is preferably used, if necessary veneered with ceramic, since a separate plastic part is easy to manufacture, easy to clean and, compared to ceramic parts, tolerances can be maintained much better during manufacture.

In a further variant, some or all of the openings can be designed with nozzles in order to enable better and more targeted alignment of the flushing water jet in the toilet. These nozzles can be rigid or they can be moved out in the direction of the bowl when the flush is actuated by the water pressure. In general, depending on their shape and orientation, the nozzles can also enable a different distribution and orientation of the individual flushing water jets in the toilet. Thus, the removable wall element, which has openings with nozzles, also makes it possible to improve the flow profile, especially in the area of heavy soiling or less heavily wetted areas.

In contrast to the additional containers known from the prior art, which are fastened in the bowl, the wall element according to the invention also eliminates a container rear wall, between which and the interior of the bowl further dirt and urine stone can collect. The wall element according to the invention preferably has no surface directly adjacent to the inner wall of the bowl or the inner edge of the toilet, but rather it is only held laterally or in an area of the toilet remote from the bowl interior. In this respect, dirt cannot get stuck between two adjacent walls in or near the toilet bowl.

Another advantage of the present invention is that the sanitary article according to the invention can also be used in the institutional sector, since it enables hygienic and simple maintenance cleaning.

Figure 1 shows a toilet 11 with a toilet bowl 12, an upwardly folded toilet seat 13 and a cover 14 which is also folded up. The cover 14 and glasses 13 are pivotably attached to the bowl 12 by corresponding means 15.

The bowl 12 has on its upwardly facing side a flat edge 16 on which the toilet seat 13 rests in the closed position.

The inward-facing wall 18 of the bowl 12 is slightly curved and otherwise largely smooth ( Figure 4 ). Individual guide elements 19 are provided on the inner bowl wall 18, which serve to keep the water entering the bowl interior through openings 21 from the rear area of the bowl 12, namely the connecting pipe 23, with a defined flow profile in the form of open flow channels on the inner wall 18 along the bowl. In the case of the toilet 11, a wall element 20 with openings 21, which can be removed from the bowl 12, is provided in the rear area of the toilet bowl 12, ie near the water connection pipe 23, instead of the conventional wall section functioning as a baffle. The lateral transition between the wall element 20 and the bowl 12 should be almost stepless, ie the visible side 34 of the wall element 20 should merge almost steplessly into the inner wall 18 of the bowl, in order to avoid soiling in the transition area, but also around overall to give the impression of a uniformly circumferential "round" bowl rim.

For fastening, the wall element 20 is simply pushed into the grooves 27 in the bowl 12 from above in this embodiment not according to the invention. At the lower end, the grooves 27 have openings ending in the pipe space 23, so that any contaminants in the grooves 27 can also be flushed out. Since the grooves 27 are outside the interior of the bowl and the openings 21, they cannot become soiled with urine stone like the openings 21.

The wall element 20 must of course be sufficiently rigid in order to be able to serve as a baffle wall for the rinsing water flowing in.

Of course, the attachment of the wall element 20 to the bowl 12 must also withstand the water pressure.

In the detailed view of the wall element 20 in the non-inventive Figure 5 openings 21 in the lower region of the wall element 20 are shown. Instead of openings 21, there can also be a gap between the lower edge 31 and the bowl 12, through which the water can flow.

In addition, lateral openings 21, as in the not according to the invention Figure 5a shown, be provided, or both lateral openings and openings downwards. In addition, the wall element 20 can also have guide surfaces on the side pointing in the direction of the connecting pipe 23 in order to guide the water flow according to the requirements of the bowl 12.

To clean the slightly soiling openings 21 in the wall element 20 (and also the bowl 12), the wall element 20 is removed from the bowl 12 (pulled out) and cleaned, for example, in a wash basin with water and possibly a brush and urine scale remover or the like, or in a dedicated washing machine (Bedpan washer, available from Hagmann or Topol).

After removing the wall element 20, which is not according to the invention, the bowl 12 can now also be cleaned in a simple manner with a brush, since all surfaces that could possibly be contaminated by splashes from the toilet room can be cleaned directly by simply passing the brush through from above, without bending over or using special brushes for inaccessible places.

The fact that the openings 21 are easy to clean because the wall element 20 can be removed means that the openings 21, as is the case in the prior art, are no longer slowly clogged with urine stone and the flow profile is disturbed until the bowl 12 is then no longer completely wetted by flushing water.

In comparison to the conventional toilets, in the toilet 11 the wall section 20 with the openings 21, against which the flushing water from the connecting pipe 23 impacts from behind, is not part of the ceramic bowl, but a separate, removable part.

In Figure 7 is shown schematically how a toilet cleaning and / or scenting block 28 for maintenance cleaning can be attached to the side of the wall element 20 facing in the direction of the connecting pipe 23. For this purpose, a basket-like container 29 can be molded or attached to the side of the wall element 20 pointing in the direction of the connecting pipe 23, in which a cleaning agent 28 that gradually dissolves with each rinsing process can be stored. The wall element 20 can comprise a horizontal plate 50 or be U-shaped (in Figure 7 not shown).

Such a cleaning agent 28 is generally used up after 1 to 2 weeks in a family of four and can then be replaced by removing or pivoting out the wall element 20 and filling the container 29.

Of course, the means 29 for fastening the cleaning agent 28 can also be shaped differently or attached to the wall element 20 in a different manner.

Instead of the additional fastening means 29 for the cleaning blocks 28, the cleaning blocks 28 can, however, also be glued directly to the rear side of the wall element 20, for example with those from the WO 2009/106220 A1 known means. It is also possible to use a highly viscous adhesive cleaning agent instead of a solid cleaning block 28 and to glue this directly or indirectly to the wall element 20.

In order to further improve the direction of flow of the rinsing water in the bowl 12, the openings 21 can also be designed in the form of nozzles which also allow different directions for the exiting jet, as in FIG Figure 8a , b shown schematically.

In Figure 8c another nozzle is schematically sketched, which is moved out by the water pressure (in the direction of the arrow) and flushes radially perpendicular to the water inlet and returns to the starting position after the flushing process has ended.

In Figure 9 Examples of form-fitting connections between the wall element 20 and the bowl 12 not according to the invention or the flushing rim 40 are shown. Figure 9c shows a groove connection between wall element 20 and bowl 12, in which, not according to the invention, a groove 47 is provided on both sides 25 of wall element 20 and a tongue or protruding nose 46 is provided on the corresponding side of bowl 12.

Figure 9d shows a trapezoidal wall element 20 not according to the invention, in which the two sides 48 of the wall element 20 converge towards one another in the direction of the interior of the bowl. In the direction of the inside of the bowl, the wall element 20 also has a nose 26 ″ which serves to engage behind the edge 27 ″ on the bowl 12. The pressure of the water impinging on the rear side 42 of the wall element 20 from the connecting pipe 23 presses the wall element 20 with its inclined sides 48 against the inclined sides 49 on the bowl 12.

A variant with a dovetail connection not according to the invention is shown in FIG Figure 9e shown.

Figure 10 shows a toilet 11 with flushing rim 40 and a removable wall element 20 not according to the invention with a horizontal plate 50 in section. In contrast to the representation in Fig. 4 In a toilet 11 with a flushing rim 40, the rim 40 is U-shaped, as in FIG Figure 11 shown for the front area of the toilet 11. In the case of a toilet 11 with a flushing rim 40, it is advisable to make the wall element 20 removable together with the horizontal plate 50 connected to it at right angles and firmly connected to the wall element 20, so that the wall element 20 is one part with the horizontal plate 50, which is preferably integrally connected to it can be pulled out upwards and cleaned. In Figure 15 a further variant of a U-shaped wall element 20 according to the invention is shown. Another variant according to the invention, namely with a U-shaped wall element 20, is shown Figure 10a . In this variant, the wall element 20 comprises, in addition to the horizontal plate 50, a plate 51 which serves as an abutment and which is connected to the horizontal plate 50 in a downward direction at right angles and which overlaps the toilet rim.

Since this U-shaped wall element 20 engages around the upper edge of the bowl 12 by resting on three surfaces and thus a positive connection with the bowl 12 is achieved, the additional fastening through the lateral groove 27 is not absolutely necessary in this variant.

Claims (9)

1. Sanitary article (11) having a rim (40), in particular a toilet or urinal, which has a connection pipe (23) for supplying flushing water, a bowl (12) and a wall portion (20) with openings (21), wherein the openings (21) serve for the through-passage of the flushing water into the bowl (12) and the wall portion (20) is arranged in the rear area of the bowl (12), wherein the wall portion (20) with the openings (21) is a wall element (20) which can be removed upwards from the bowl (12), characterized in that the wall element (20) is of U-shaped design in that a deflecting plate is arranged as a leg of the U at a right angle at its upper edge to a base (50) of the U, and a further leg (51, 52) of the U is either used to overlap the outside edge of the bowl (12) and to act as an abutment or said further leg (51, 52) is configured in the shape of two individual legs or pins which engage with corresponding vertical bores in the bowl, wherein a form-fitting connection to the bowl is achieved through the U-profile fitted onto the bowl.
2. Sanitary article (11) according to Claim 1, characterized in that the connection pipe (23) merges directly into the bowl (12).
3. Sanitary article (11) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that that side of the wall element (20) which is oriented in the direction of the inner side (32) of the bowl (12) forms a horizontally encircling, more or less completely smooth surface in the use position, i.e. when the wall elements have not been removed from the bowl (12).
4. Sanitary article (11) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the openings (21) of the wall element (20) are configured in the form of nozzles, in particular in the form of nozzles which can be moved out in the direction of the bowl interior under the water pressure.
5. Sanitary article (11) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the wall element (20) has means (29) for fastening a toilet cleaning agent (28), and the fastening means (29) are fastened on a side of the wall element (20) which is directed towards the connection pipe (23).
6. Sanitary article (11) according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that a toilet cleaning agent (28) is adhesively bonded directly or indirectly to the wall element (20).
7. Method of cleaning a sanitary article (11) according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that, for the purpose of cleaning the openings (21), the wall element (20) is removed from the sanitary article (11) and cleaned separately.
8. Method for regularly cleaning a sanitary article (11) according to Claim 6, characterized in that the regular cleaning takes place by means of the toilet cleaning agent (28) bonded to the wall element (20) and flushing.
9. Sanitary article (11) according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the wall element (20) is connected to the bowl (12) via groove connections (26, 27, 46, 47, 26', 27').
