Description

The invention relates to a device for the formation of book blocks from printed in an upstream printing machine signatures or in an upstream processing unrolled pre-printed signatures.

From practice, printing presses already designed as web presses are known, in which a web-shaped printing material is printed, wherein the web-shaped printing material can be folded in a folder and separated into signatures. Furthermore, printing presses are already known from practice in which isolated signatures can be combined, for example by stapling, to a printed copy.

For variable printing in small print runs increasingly used as digital printing presses are used. It is important to separate the printed on a digital printing substrate to signatures and unify the isolated signatures to so-called book blocks. So far, no devices are known with which it is possible to unite profitable printed, scattered and possibly folded signatures to book blocks in small numbers.

The device 17 according to the invention serves to form book blocks 18 from an upstream printing machine or from an upstream one Unrolled unrolled, isolated and possibly folded signatures, with the aid of the device 17 according to the invention both glued and non-glued book blocks can be formed.

The device 17 according to the invention comprises a first conveyor 19, which is designed as a belt conveyor in the embodiment shown, wherein the first conveyor 19 takes over the printed in a pre-printed printing machine 10, isolated and possibly folded signatures. The first conveyor 19 extends according to Fig. 2 in the horizontal direction and transports the printed, isolated and possibly folded signatures in the horizontal direction.

The inventive device 17 further comprises at least one signature switch 20, which is associated with the first conveyor 19. In the preferred embodiment shown, the first conveyor 19 is assigned a total of four signature switches 20, via which a signature can be conveyed in different directions.

The device according to the invention further comprises a plurality of second conveyors 21, which in turn are designed as belt conveyors. Each of the promoted by the first conveyor 19 signature is dependent on the switching position of the signature switches 20 each one of the plurality of second conveyors 21 can be fed.

Each second conveyor 21 is associated with a book blocker 22. Each of the book blockers 22, the belonging to the same book block 18 signatures depending on the switching position of the signature switches 20 via the cooperating with the respective book block 22 second conveyor 21 can be fed.

With each book blocker 22 each have an offshoot 23 together. The book block formed in the respective book block 22 can be taken over by the respective book block 22 from the respective offshoot 23 to store the book block on a third conveyor 24 with the aid of the respective Ablegers 23, via which the blocks 18 in the direction of a Auslegeeinrichtung 25th are transportable.

The third conveyor 24 extends below the first conveyor 19 in the horizontal direction and transports the book blocks 18 formed in the horizontal direction in the direction of the delivery device 25th

The inventive device 17 for forming book blocks accordingly comprises a plurality of different conveyors 19, 21 and 24, namely the first conveyor 19, which serves for the horizontal transport of the signatures, the third conveyor 24, which serves for the horizontal transport of the book blocks 18, and the second Conveyors 21, which serve to transport the signatures to the book block formers 22 depending on the position of the signature turnouts 20, wherein the second conveyors 21 extend obliquely from top to bottom between the first conveyor 19 and the book block formers 22, the book block formers 22 below the first conveyor 19 and above the third conveyor 24 is positioned.

The second conveyors 21 are designed such that on the same the signatures before insertion into the respective Buchblockbildner 21 are aufschuppbar to a scale flow. This can be realized by having the second conveyors 21 upstream of the book blockers 21, an area that slows down the signatures. In Fig. 2 Each second conveyors 21 a scraper 42 is assigned. The shingles can be done with fixed or variable coverage.

The book blockers 22 are format variable. At the same signatures can be collected with a defined format width and defined format height to a book block 18 with a defined format thickness, namely format variable in terms of format width and / or format height and / or format thickness.

Each book blocker 22 has an inclined base 26 and a front stop 27, with the respective stop 27 between a first position, in which at the same the signatures belonging to a book block are collectable, and a second position, in which the same one in Buchblockbildner 22 formed book block 18 releases, is convertible. So can Fig. 2 it can be seen that each stop 27 is pivotable about an axis 39 to be transferred from the first position to the second position and vice versa from the second position to the first position.

With each Buchblockbildner 22 continues to work together a book block conveyor 28, which in the embodiment of the Fig. 2 is designed as a slide. Then, when the stop 27 of the respective book block 22 is pivoted to the second position and releases the book block 18 formed in the book block 18, the respective book block 18 can be pushed over the book block conveyor 22 associated book block conveyor 28 from the respective book blocker 22 and the with the respective book blocker 22 cooperating offshoot 23 are supplied.

As already stated, in the embodiment of the Fig. 2 the book block conveyor 28 is designed as a slide which detects the book block 18 formed in the respective book block former 22 at a rear edge and then pushes out beyond the rear edge from the respective book block former 22 in the direction of the copier 23 cooperating with the respective book block former 22 when the stop 27 the book blocker 22 is pivoted to the second position and releases the book block 18 at the rear end opposite front end.

Each clip 23 is transferable between a first position in which it is fed from the cooperating book block former 22 to a book block 18 and a second position in which a book block 18 can be deposited on the third conveyor 24. According to Fig. 2 each branch 23 is pivotable about an axis 40, wherein each branch 23 comprises a pivotable pad 29 and a stop 30 pivotable together with the pad 29.

Then, when the respective offshoot 23 is transferred to the first position, the documents 26 and 29 of book blocker 22 and offshoot 23 are aligned and the stop 30 serves as a stop for pushing out the book block 18 from the book blocker 22 in the tray 23 inside. Then, when the respective branch 23 is pivoted to the second position, the stop 30 thereof can be pivoted relative to the pad 29 thereof, so that then stop 30 and pad 29 are in a common plane, so as to release the respective book block 18, so that the same can be transported by the third conveyor 24 in the direction of the delivery device 25.

The abutment 27 of the respective book block former 22 can only be transferred from the first position to the second position when the offshoot 23, which cooperates with the respective book block former 22, is transferred to the first position.

Each Buchblockbildner 22 is associated with a pressing device 31. With the help of the pressing devices 31, the book blocks 18 formed in the book block formers 22 can be at least partially compressed and thus compacted, namely before pushing the book blocks 18 out of the book block formers 22 and thus before inserting them into the file 23.

As stated above, with the aid of the device 17 according to the invention, it is possible to form not only glued or unsized but also glued or glued book blocks 18. For the formation of sized book blocks 18, the device 17 comprises at least one adhesive application device 41, by means of which adhesive or glue can be applied to the printing material or the signatures, which are to be combined in the area of the respective book block former 22 to form a book block 18.

Accordingly, each adhesive application device 41 is arranged upstream of the respective book block former 22, preferably downstream of the respective signature switch 20. By contrast, it is also possible to arrange the adhesive application devices upstream of the respective signature switch 20. In Fig. 2 upstream of the respective signature switch 20 stopper monitors 32 are shown.

The glue or adhesive is preferably applied to the signatures via the respective adhesive application device 41 on one side, from above or from below. In this case, adhesive is then applied to each signature of a book block, with the exception of the last or uppermost signature of the respective book block. In contrast, it is also possible to arrange the adhesive application devices such that they apply from below adhesive to the signatures of a book block to be formed. In this case, then down to the first or lowest signature of a book block 18 is applied to each signature of the same adhesive from below.

When forming glued or glued book blocks 18, the press devices 31 are advantageous for pressing the adhesives provided with the signatures before being pushed out of the respective book block former 22, at least in the area of the adhesive application.

The production of book blocks 18 with the in Fig. 2 shown apparatus 17 is thus such that with the aid of the first conveyor 19 individual signatures are conveyed in the horizontal direction, in the direction of the signature switches 20. Depending on the switching position of the signature switches 20, the signatures in the range of one of the obliquely extending second conveyors 21 and thus fed to one of the book block formers 22, wherein all the signatures belonging to a book block 18 are guided into the area of the same book block former 22 at the signature turnouts 20. Subsequent signatures of the next book block are then conveyed in the direction of the next signature switch 20 and thus towards the next book blocker 22. In the formation of glued or glued book blocks 18 adhesive or glue is applied to the signatures. The signatures are scaled in the region of the second conveyors 21. A shingled stream of scaled signatures enters the area of the respective book block former 22, the signatures forming the book block both at their front ends and at their rear ends on a stop to rest, namely in the region of the front end of the pivotable stop 27 and As soon as all the signatures of a book block have been collected in the book block former 22, the book block is preferably pressed over the respective pressing device 31. The cooperating with the respective Buchblockbildner 22 offshoot 23 is pivoted upward, so that its base 29 is aligned with the base 26 of the respective book block 22. Then the stop 27 of the respective book block former 22 can be pivoted releasing the respective book block 18, in which case the respective book block conveyor 28 expels the book block 18 from the respective book block former 22 and inserts it into the respective file 23, in which case the respective book block 28 abuts against the stop 30 of each offshoot 23 comes to rest. Subsequently, the offshoot 23 pivots downward to subsequently pivot the abutment 30 thereof and release the respective book block 18 for transport through the third conveyor 24. The above procedure takes place in the alternating cycle between the different book blockers 22 and offshoots 23 of the device 17.

In the embodiment of Fig. 2 the book block conveyor 28 are designed as a slide which push out a book block 28 on the rear edge and the rear end of the respective book block 22 and insert into the respective offshoot 23. Fig. 3 to 5 show variants of the device 17 according to the invention in the area of cooperating with the respective book block former 22 and the respective offshoot 23 book block conveyor.

Also in the embodiment of Fig. 3 the book block conveyor 28 is designed as a slide which detects the respective book block 18 to be conveyed out of the respective book block former 22 at a rear end in the transport direction, wherein in the exemplary embodiment of FIG Fig. 3 the book block conveyor 28 clamps the book block to be transported at the rear end. Trained as a slide book block conveyor 28 therefore includes a clamping device of clamping bar 33, which come to rest at the top and bottom of the book block 18 and clamp the same in the region of its rear end when pushing out of the book block 22 and fix.

Another difference of the book block conveyor 28 of Fig. 3 opposite to the Fig. 2 shown book block conveyors 28 is that in Fig. 3 the actual book block conveyor 28 is mounted on a belt conveyor 34 and not, as in Fig. 2 shown, is actuated via a linearly displaceable piston 38.

Fig. 4 shows a book block conveyor 28, as well as in Fig. 3 is received on a belt conveyor 34 and is moved over the belt conveyor 34, wherein the book block conveyor 28 of the Fig. 4 is designed as a stop on which the book block 18 formed in the respective book block 22 comes to rest with a front end. It can be provided to clamp the book block 18 to be conveyed in the region of its front end via a clamping device of the book block conveyor 28 and to fix.

Another variant of a book block conveyor 28 shows Fig. 5 , where in Fig. 5 the book block conveyor 28 can come into abutment both at the rear end and at the front end of the book block 28 to be ejected. The movement of the book block 18 formed in the book block former 22 preferably takes place in FIG Fig. 5 such that after release of the book block 18 in the book blocker 22 by pivoting the stopper 27 of the book block 18 due to gravity slides down and comes with its front end on the book block conveyor 28 to the plant. Serving as a stop for the front end of the book block 18 book block conveyor 28 is then displaced by means of a piston 35, in particular a pneumatic piston, down, then the book block 18 passes into the region of a belt conveyor 36, through which the book block 18 the offshoot 23rd can be supplied. Via a further piston 37, the book block conveyor 28 serving as a stop can be withdrawn in order to release the book block 18 so that it can ultimately come to rest against the stop 30 of the child 23.

Instead of the belt conveyors, other conveyor systems can also be used, for example chain conveyors, belt conveyors or gripper systems.

Both in the area of the book blocker 22 and in the region of the offshoot 23, the respective book block 18 lies with its front end on a stop 27 or 30, wherein these stops 27, 30 can be designed as a rake.
