Claims (10)
- A silencer for a portable firearm (1), in particular an assault rifle or other long gun, that may be placed on a gun barrel (3) of the portable firearm (1), said gun barrel (3) having a muzzle brake (4) fastened thereon that is releasably connectable with the silencer (2) via connecting means,
wherein the muzzle brake (4) has an annular shoulder (10) provided in the region of its front end and forming an internal screw thread (12) that cooperates, by way of a threaded joint (11), with an external screw thread (13) of a threaded sleeve (14) of the silencer (2), and
wherein the enveloping sleeve (28) forming the outer shell of the silencer (2) is connected, by means of radial connecting walls (18, 27), to a tubular inner shell (16) that is aligned with the longitudinal axis and has the threaded sleeve (14) including the axially facing external thread (13) arranged on the front end thereof. - The silencer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the connecting means comprise a threaded joint (11, 12, 13).
- The silencer as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the threaded sleeve (14) on the tubular inner shell (16) of the silencer (2) forms an annular stop (15) for the annular shoulder (10) of the muzzle brake (4).
- The silencer as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the tubular inner shell (16) of the silencer (2) preferably encloses the muzzle brake (4) radially from all sides.
- The silencer as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the tubular inner shell (16) of the silencer (2) has a number of transverse bores (17) disposed side by side at a given distance from each other and leading in an air-locking manner into an expansion chamber (26) disposed between the outer circumference of the tubular shell (16) and the inner circumference of the outer, enveloping sleeve (28).
- The silencer as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the muzzle region of the tubular inner shell (16) leads to a gas chamber (25) which has an enlarged diameter and is arranged in the front part of the silencer (2), within the enveloping sleeve (28).
- The silencer as claimed in the preceding claim, wherein the gas chamber (25) has a number of annular fins (30) disposed parallel with each other and spaced apart from each other so as to form expansion spaces (31) therebetween.
- The silencer as claimed in the preceding claims 5 and 6, wherein the axially extending, rear expansion chamber (26) is connected in an air-locking manner with the front gas chamber (25) via longitudinal bores (19) provided in the front connecting wall (18).
- A portable firearm (1), in particular an assault rifle or other long gun, having a muzzle brake (4) fastened on the gun barrel (3) of said portable firearm and having a silencer (2) as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein said silencer (2) is releasably connectable with the muzzle brake (4) via connecting means, realised preferably in the form of a threaded joint (11, 12, 13).
- A method of mounting a silencer (2) on a gun barrel (3) of a portable firearm (1) provided with a muzzle brake (4),
wherein the muzzle brake (4) is placed into an inner longitudinal reception bore (29) of the silencer (2) until the front portion of the muzzle brake (4) abuts a threaded sleeve (14) of the silencer (2) that is aligned with a longitudinal axis and
wherein a number of rotations are subsequently effected in order to screw the silencer (2) onto the muzzle brake (4).
